Vince Gilligan did such a good job of cutting the stress and dread of these characters' circumstances with an occasional moment of "maybe everything's gonna be alright." He just peppered them in there. And it was just the right amount.
not that vince gilligan isn’t really important to the series but you also gotta give credit to the editor and the specific writers and director for this episode vince gilligan is hardly ever actually behind the camera and making those kinds of decisions
Bravo Vince!
@@jakedurazo712 lmao. He is the showrunner also executive producer of both shows and director of the movie. Get lost GOT fanboy.
@@heriksalvadorianreacts6646 individual episodes have their own directors, it’s not always the showrunner at the helm
@@luckystiff5695 a director is like a conductor, he doesnt write the music he just helps translate it from the page. Gilligan decided all the major beats of the story and how to connect the dots, the directors helped stylize those action beats and story points to make them interesting to watch.
The whole notion of having a meth lab in customer's housing was the most genius idea in the show, second being the massive laundry room setup. But this is elegant, having all your equipment in modular cases, plug-and-play, and then easy to pack up when done and then move to the next house.....simply brilliant.
It must have taken a lot of research on the writers part to figure out how the setup for making this stuff would go. That's what gets me.
@byronsenior6499 they hired real life consultants in order to make sure they don't accidentally teach people how to make meth
@@r9kv753 That to. :) I meant the construction of this system for creating it.
Imagine all those households who later found out on the news that the fumigation company was actually a thieve circle.
And to make matters worse...their entire house got "methed up" by Americas most wanted Drug Kingpin as well
lol
@@r9kv753 Stupid way of wasting precious money and work time since anybody with internet access can easly find info how to set up such lab.
I feel like if Walt’s brother in law wasn’t in the DEA they could’ve done this routine for 20 years and never had trouble.
But then again he woudnt hAve found jesse
Honestly if Walt wasn't so self destructive they could have gone on for as long as they wanted
@@jameshetherington1 Walt's self destructiveness didn't really play a role in his downfall. It was over when Hank found a book in the bathroom, pretty much random chance.
Expect he still had cancer.
@@Korijenkins1414 Walt keeping the book that was literally the only surviving piece of evidence that linked him to anything around is an example of his self destructiveness
It's kinda crazy how Walter manages to mess up every good situation he gets. The money from Elliot, cooking for Gus, the fumigation solution. He screws up a good opportunity and somehow manages to salvage it just to mess everything up again until everything was gone
He's a little man with a giant ego Mike said it best he just had to control everything instead of knowing his place and cooking.
The most damning point is when he has the perfect opportunity to throw Hank off his trail. Hank is convinced that Gale was Heisenberg. And that was that. Gale's dead, Heisenberg's gone.
All Walter had to do was keep his mouth shut, keep a low profile, and keep cooking. Hank and the DEA would think that it was just someone copying Gale and would be chasing non-existent leads and Walter could complete his contract with Gus and then go his separate way.
Instead he couldn't keep it shut, had to put Hank back on his trail, and then lead to Hank sniffing around Gus's operation and well... yeah.
@@Killzoneguy117 Excellent analysis! Walter White is his own worst enemy...
He enjoys chaos.
How did he mess up the fumigation situation again? I can't remember
From RV, to Lab, to someone’s house. Now that’s what I call improvising.

The montages of BrBa and BCS are truly classic.
Yeah but the first 3 seasons of Better Call Saul are boring as hell compared to Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad is the type of show you can rewatch over and over.
@@infinitynotifications7082 😐
@@infinitynotifications7082 disagree. I've rewatched BCS more than Breaking Bad, love the pace and character building.
@@DatCatReal good point
@@infinitynotifications7082 I agree. The series really didn't start for me until his brother commit suicide.
Walt was so obsessed with a clean lab they spent an entire episode killing a fly only to work in a place like this lol
It's under fumigation, ain't no fly surviving in there with all those gaseous chemicals... wait.
He wasn't obsessing with a clean lab. He's was with a lot in his mind and the fly was his way to cope.
Wasn't about the fly?
Well they aren't going to find any alive flys in a fumigation site
The fly was lalo's dead spirit keep whispering "werner zieglerrrrrrrrrr" into his ear, it had to be put down.
I still think "Vamonos Pest" is a genius name for an extermination company in New Mexico.
I love episodes\montages of Jesse & Walt working without conflict, they're a great team...sometimes...
The music was so brilliant In this scene and all of the cooking scenes, what I love most is the progression of taste in arrangement which corresponds with the progression of lab quality throughout the series. In season 1 and 2 they were still making meth in the trashy RV and the music reflected the quality of the lab, in season 3 and 4 the lab cooks were accompanied by orchestral instrumental arrangements to reflect the professional business-centered laboratory provided by Gus and in season 5 and this scene in particular the music reflects the grandiose nature of simply cooking for yourself without the added constraints of deadlines or threat of law.

Nothing beats the cooking meth scenes in Breaking Bad. I could watch them all day.

It's a a good idea to intersperse them with the scene from the Crystal Palace or from Splooge's house. You know, to keep the perspective.

Setting this lab up and tearing it down every couple of days must’ve been really annoying lol. Smart because it makes it much harder to find but annoying for sure.
One may find the cleaning up to be negligible when the return of investment you get out of it is tremendous
Yea no point in complaining when you know youre making thousands.
You trying to tell me no job has annoying parts? How long was the setup? 15 minutes?
Thousands 🤣🤣
Vince Gillian really made cooking meth look as elegant as bob ross painting… now that’s genius
It’s actually truly crazy that they were making Meth in peoples’ homes. It’s so crazy and brilliant at the same time
This scene was a major influence when I directed my 4-minute short film about Screen printing. The use of camera angles, close-ups and editing were really inspiring and helpful.
"Maybe you and i could partner up"
I really miss this show watching these clips from the show, gives me chills 🤗
They're like a traveling circus! Bringing their tent full of joy to a neighbourhood near you!
It's interesting how there's always relaxing music and satisfying imagery in almost every scene where Walt is cooking. It's another way Vince Gilligan tries to get you to side with Walt even though he's a pretty evil dude.
The drug sniffing dog walking past the house on his off time: ayo
coolest montage in the series
I think crystal blue persuasion beats it
Burning down the lab was the best one
Ikr but the atoms have a weird color
They started cooking from RV to structured lab to other people houses
If no one has mentioned it yet, the song is "On a Clear Day, by The Peddlers. What a lowkey funky gem. It is a cover of a Robert Goulet song from the 50's, I belive.
To get all that equipment into those cases must have been quite the feat of engineering
I love how Jesse just leaves the front door wide open for anybody to walk in and help lol
“Hey, home owner again, how is the fumigation going?”
All fun and games till the nanny cam catches you cooking 🤣
My question is this; Did the houses actually get debugged or were they just contaminating neighborhood after neighborhood with meth lab chemicals...like the back yard of this house? I mean, some kid was going to play in that back yard again, and good old Walt is dumping anhydrous all over the place.
The show made it clear that Walt had no care for human or even children's lives for that matter. Considering that they ran an air tight operation, I would venture that they probably actually did debug the homes after, just spent an extra 2-3 days cooking than the usual debugging, complete guesses on my end, but Walts downfall was never amateur moves like not debugging homes after cooking in em.
The music in this series is so amazing
Yesss do you know this one?
"On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" by The Peddlers
These were the good days ❤️
1:11 this might be a bit far fetched but i think this nod symbolizes that they have to work with what they have or get to work but they also do it in the finale maybe it’s the same symbolism idk
1:08 Most iconic shot ever.
I think I want to watch the whole thing again. I am going to do my own marathon episode after episode
Thinking about the aftermath after he gets exposed, imagine all the houses that had to be condemned cause he made meth in them.
One thing that always bugged me about Breaking Bad was the filters that they wore on their respirators. Chemical filters are always round, while particulate filters, like the ones they used, are rectangular. Totally not suitable for an environment with harsh chemical fumes. A small, obscure detail of course but one that would bug someone like me that works in the chemical industry.
It's not just a song, its a masterpiece art work with chemistry
Is anyone gonna talk about the song they chose for this scene? I've been listening to it nonstop all day. The BB soundtrack is incredible, I've found a lot of great songs
02:07 ahh the New Mexico backyard. Thinning grass that's almost dead.
Love the desert, don't miss the disgusting landscape at times.
Near invincible weeds, plenty of "goatheads", and everything dead, dead, dead.
2:28 is just perfect
i love this scene so much.
The scene with them on the couch watching tv and talking about Andrea and Brock is the one moment in the show you can genuinely tell they truly care for each other. In a mostly extremely toxic relationship, it showed at the end of the day they were truly each others best friend. Walt just had too much ego and couldn’t put it aside when it mattered most.
Is this the only moment in the show Walt was actually happy?
I doubt it. He feared for his life in some parts but for a lot of it he was happy. Acknowledging the moment Skylar asked why he did it to which he responded with “I liked it. I was good at it. I was really… I was alive.”
He was happy in that scene where him and Skyler were looking for a house
He was happy just before he died at the end, lovingly laying his hand on the tank
Train Heist before shooting the kid
........did you even watch the show?
Worse than the underground lab but better than the RV lab.
Never watched breaking bad. Always heard it was a good show. And off of these scene alone. I know it's a good show
I'm jealous. I wish I could go back and erase it from my memory (all 20 times I've watched the entire series) so I could experience it again. My favorite show of all time, hands down.
It's not the best, ITS THE GREATEST SHOW EVER MADE Period.
So here is what I find funny. Walt goes crazy over there being “one” fly in Guses lab saying it poses a risks to contamination. Yet he is perfectly okay with cooking in a house filled with bugs, fumigation, and other harmful chemicals lol.
All the people saying that all Walter had to do this and that and he would never had gotten caught are forgetting that Heisenberg had a massive massive ego issue, which became the reason of Walter’s demise
this is the moment ted got the green light for skylar's back door
1:45 why are they pouring metal fillings in it?
catalyst, aluminium probably
@@connordowning216 That's exactly what it is. You need a positive ionic metal to get the reaction going, and Aluminum is the cheapest option.
They mention it as aluminum, while Victor is cooking while they’re being held hostage after killing Gale
Because unlike Victor, Walt and Jesse never forget the aluminum.
Alooooominum
The montages in this show are the blue meth grade of montages.
This scene was epic. Loved it.
Just saw this scene on Breaking Bad today, had to get the song!
Passion in the work is perfection in progress.🤯
I feel like sticking to a van in the desert is still easier. Just bring a battery jumper next time
They didn’t want easy they wanted a nice workspace that could never be tracked back to them
They couldn't produce as much product in an RV
None of the neighbors smell it?
They mentioned that in the show…no one would really question any smell as everyone thinks the house is being fumigated.
This show makes me love meth but it doesn't make me wanna try it.
I think you misunderstood the source material. It ruined everyone's life.
I‘tzZ pReeTy fuUn!
I suggest trying it, if you can apply the harm reduction policy and only have access for a very limited amount. After the crash and recovery, you can reassess the effects with the comedown in mind: was it worth it? The answer is often "no".
If the show ended on this scene... perfection.

while they are doing this, they are not clearing the house of pests, would whatever pests they were hired to fumigate chew through and contaminate the room?
My kidneys synthesizing up piss while I'm asleep so I have to wake up at 1 AM:
Don't those houses have nanny cams? If I was allowing a bunch of strangers into my house to get it fumigated I would have definitely put some cams around.

Walter white really did build an empire with his fumigation business. It looked like Everyone in town gave him 5 star reviews.
I wonder if the cops ever found out that he was cooking in people's homes. I mean, most of the people involved died, right? Except Jesse, who escaped.
Weird to think these houses are actually infested with bugs
And Walt was fine making the product
But a house fly in the lab
He goes crazy
Walt didn't care about any fly it was all just symbolism
