  • When Anne Glenconner wrote Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown, she had no idea that the book -- about her life as Princess Margaret's lady in waiting for over 30 years -- would become an international runaway hit and launch a new chapter of her life. Since then, she has turned her hand to murder mystery and written two books based on two of her favourite stomping grounds, Mustique and Holkham. Moderator: Francesca Beauman

What an absolute hoot she is. It's so hard to believe she is 90 now and she's in such robust good health physically and mentally.

Absolutely wonderful. Especially for a 90 year old lady! And she is a hero to have survived the Tennant marriage and lived to tell the tale!

Really? I just saw a bit of the documentary The Men Who Bought Mystique and the old nut almost hit the member of the filming crew. His son Christopher skulking around, clearly scared of his father. That she put up with this old bag is her business but how could she give birth to 5 children and expose them to such a violent man I cannot comprehend. They all are crazy. As to her trumpeting about Margaret who was an awful woman and there are many, many people who confirm this, is another story about Lady G character. Bravo to Lady Glenconner for being an author at this age and going strong but I have no sympathy for her and the story of her life. We all create our reality and how could she not think of her kids and stay married to the crazy man I don’t get.

17 and sent off as a travelling sales person and traveling to the US. What was her Mother thinking?! And then her husband takes her to a brothel. How absolutely horrible. What was he thinking?! They are all very weird. But she is wonderful. How she managed to keep her sense of humour I can’t imagine.

It makes me sad that there are so many countries that used to have monarchies but no longer have them. If Russia still had a Tsar, the invasion of Ukraine would not have happened.
