- We asked our Mexican dads to rank different store-bought salsas 😭😂
We asked our Mexican dads to taste test and rank different store bought salsas! Many Mexican dads love making spicy and tasty salsas but how do salsas from the store compare? The dads tried all sorts of salsas like Taco Bell Salsa verde, Tostitos Restaurant Style Salsa, Casa Sanchez Mild Salsa Roja, Herdez Salsa Verde, Pace Mild Picante Sauce, La Victoria Salsa Verde, Tostitos Chunky Habanero Salsa! Do you like to eat salsas? Which these salsas look tasty?

What do you want to see the papahs rank next? 👀
Mexican hot sauces!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Energy drinks or Taco Bell or any other Mexican American restaurant like chipotle, del taco, or taco bueno
I like when they try each others food!
They should rank Taco Bell orders, or they should guess wich Mexican dish is the American version and wich one is the Mexican one
Mexican HOT SAUCES!!!!
You should make them taste each others homemade food and rate it.
YES
YESSSS
are you trying to start world war 3 wtf
They did an episode where Mexican dads taste each other's carne asada

To be fair, you guys are having them try all the mild versions of these salsas, and one of their most common complaints is that they aren't spicy enough.
despite the level of kick they have, store salsas are not really big in México, we all prefer to do our own, and yes home made salsas are just better
Counterpoint: you usually can't find the spicier versions of these on the shelf.
This was my exact thought. Also the guy saying you can't find the spicier versions I have never had an issue finding the hot varieties.
@@shiftinggearsmedia - especially Herdez, if you go to latino grocery stores... when Herdez says 'hot' or 'spicy', it's not the same as when Taco Bell says it, lol
@@BillyJoe1305 🤔
I love how many times dude says “in an emergency” like any emergency would call for salsa. Legendary.
Lol I eat salsa like every week, so if you’re out I think that’s an emergency 😂
He means when the food is already served and you have nothing else to serve as salsa, not an actual emergency 😆
*fiery tornado scorches the earth
QUICK GRAB SOME SALSA
Yep a Mexican emergency calls for SALSA!
No salsa can beat the salsa made at home in the molcajete🔥🔥
You already know that its bout to be hella spicy💀
ong frfr
Got me busting
Kinda wanna get one now. All I do is talk shit about store bought salsa but I never tried making my own. I'm a pocho 😂
@@Severmore Si, si eres. Ningún mexicano que se respete come salsa comprada. Y edito: no no necesitas un molcajete, con la licuadora puedes hacer salsas, los mexicanos no somos un cliche que solo usamos molcajete para hacer salsas.
@@SarahLynn__ good decision deleting that dumb ass response.
Seems to me like they were actually just fine with store bought salsa, as long as it was spicy. I bet if they didn't know the last was store bought, they'd have all loved it.
the real kicker is the not homemade tortilla chips. Mexican store made tortilla chips are fire as fuck, Still hot.
I haven't tried the last 2 botles of tostitos salsas to asure i would know if it was homemade, but with the other ones its very easy to tell when the're not homemade, very easy.
Salsa in the molcajete is ALWAYS the best! I can attest to that!😊😊😊😊😊
This needed to be a blind taste test. So much bias when they know what it is before tasting.
They would still tell u it’s shit except the one with glasses😂
@@olmec-21yep. Mexicans know their salsas.
@@Severmorethen a blind taste test would actually prove your claim. This proves nothing.
I tried most of those salsas (went hungry to the store n got fooled by the photo and description on the label) and their reviews are VERY accurate… most are trash.
Someone is offended, just because you like it dont mean others have to
3:35 He truly speaks the TRUTH! Homemade will always beat store bought! Thats where you will get the texture, flavor and spice you crave and expect!😊😊😊😊❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've watched a few of these now and I can tell that Vicente is just a great person. He seems like he would give you the shirt off his back.
I hope they compare each others salsas and rate them (or other Hispanic cultures salsas)
That would be a good idea
I should preface this with saying that I am a white boy from the Midwest but I can handle myself in terms of spicy food. I grew up eating canned salsa and thought it was ok. It was not until I lived in San Antonio for several years where I got to try authentic Mexican food and real Mexican salsa and wow. Like I said I can handle my spice level and I told my Mexican girlfriend at the time that her mom could turn up the heat level in her salsa as hot as she possible could…that was a mistake. Like the dad in this video he said that salsa should be so hot it kicks your ass and I agree. However this woman’s salsa knocked me out, let me get back up and knocked me out again it was so hot. To this day I don’t buy canned salsa and make my own the way her mom told me to…it’s been a life changer
I didn't realize how much I needed a Spanish speaking, with captions, react channel! As someone with decent reading comprehension in Spanish but absolutely terrible listening comprehension this is just perfect!
the translations weren't always connecting the dots. I'm hispanic, and I was like the man just said his grandson said the salsa doesn't work, but they translated it differenlty. IDK. maybe i'm the dumb ass.
does that one guy not know how rating 1-10 works?
I love how they are all wildly different in opinions
Love this series! Great job!!!!!!!!
I love your guys new channel! I'm wondering if you can do a video of Mexican dads trying store bought hot sauces! ❤️
Great idea, already on the list! 😁
They should do the Hot Ones Challenge!!
Mrs. Renfo’s ghost pepper salsa is the best store bought salsa. Not for the timid. It really has a kick. Especially if you dunk Paqui ghost pepper tortilla chips. It’ll get the adrenaline pumping for sure.
Yes!!! Love that shit
Mrs. Renfro's has some good products. Their jalapeño slices aren't flavorless like everyone else's
i add that to shitty salsas lol
Their reaper salsa is my favorite. It's the only store bought salsa I've found that's spicy enough for me
Definitely the best store bought brand. I've tried a few of theirs and they are great!
"This is pure venom"
Mans didn't say venom 🤭
Nice video guys congratulations. Make a blind taste video with salsas maybe some store bought and home made salsas to see if the papahs can tell the difference. With the mamahs homemade salsas.
This channel is so great for helping me learn Spanish quicker. Thank you!
Im thinking they may really appreciate the "Mrs. Renfros" salsas. I love the Habanero and ghost pepper. There are others as well, but I like spicy and those two are spicy!
That shit has a lot of vinegar man. Too acidic.
@@thirteen8582 I can't tell!
Mrs Renfros Ghost pepper is a staple in my fridge
Les goo another papah video always brings me the hypes
Lmao I feel like we can all relate to being pressured to eat Chile as a kid haha y también el dinero nunca llego 😂😂
I love the 5 at the end, dude is a legend.
Mrs. Renfo’s is the only way to go when buying store bought salsas
They all had different scales but it felt like they basically gave the exact same scores.
Pace is my favorite store bought for sure. But It's actually pretty easy to make your own salsas, especially if your oven has a decent broiler
Pace chunky hot is better than 99% of Mexican restaurants in Texas. The taqueria shacks are a different story
@@johnmaynard3463 I like Salsa but this Pace chunky hot its hard to find in asia i only find the mild.
@@JJOOKER Pretty easy to raise the heat level of that. Can throw jalapeños on the grill or in the oven, dice em, and the salsa becomes great. takes 5 minutes
Should consider saying the brand afterwards to eliminate any negative preconceptions 👌
"I'm not gonna make fun of you!" Lol😅😅😅 that's the one then
I love this.
If you guys ever need a quick party snack, try pouring Pace salsa over a block of cream cheese, dip them chips in and enjoy 😋
I've never tried that before, but one time I mixed Pace with Velveeta when I was on a time crunch and it was pretty good - has to be the spicy Pace though.
Love these dudes! I would hang out with all of them anytime!
Asking stupid questions eh Ramon? Love you love the papahs
I would love to see them try different jarritos flavors!😊
My favorite is the grapefruit and ALWAYS the hardest to find.
@@ginamarshall7691we have a small wal-mart market and that’s the only flavor they ever have lol.
I’m pretty sure they already know what Jarritos taste like
He said “No manches”.🤣
Haven’t even seen it but I’m willing to bet some curse words are said😂😂
This is my favorite video so far 😂
I’m lucky to have a Mexican grocery like 400 ft from me. They have this tall, skinny fridge of fresh made salsas everyday. Verde and Roja. And they got fire tortilla chip brands I’ve never heard of before.
I once made a salsa fresca that they may like.it was tomatoes, yellow onion, jalapenos, habeneros cilantro and a few Thai chilies all diced up. Then i added in some lime juice, salt pepper garlic powder and the kick in the balls, a tablespoon full of Carolina reaper flakes. Ohhh it was so good and tasty but so spicy it could strip the paint off a car.nobody but me would eat any of it.and after eating some on a chip I had to eat almost a hand full of chips to get the burn down. But it was damn good.I grew up in san diego and imperial county in california. Most of my friends were hispanic.I basically aS adopted by their families since i spent more time at my friends houses than mine it seemed.I remember helping my best friends mom, aunties, grandma and cousins fold tamales, or watching the grandpa roast a goat over the fire pit in their back yard. I learned to cook alot of good hispanic food. Carne asada is to this day my favorite. The red kind is my top favorite. My go to breakfast is chorizo and egg burritos. I love cooking and know how to cook many hispanic dishes. Not just Ted med stuff but real authentic meals. One of the dad's talked about chilequilas. Ohhhh damn i love those. But i truly miss tamales where I'm at now I can't get them or alot of the ingredients to make them.
Man theres so many good store bought salsa its amazing these still exist. Gotta get some mrs renfro or mateos. Those have some amazing heat and flavor
Bro was disappointed his whole life 😂😂
This is my new favorite channel.
When I was a kid my Mom would take Herdez Salsa Casera and "doctor it up" as she would say. By the time she finished adding a few fresh ingredients it was pretty darn good.
Y’all need to start doing blind taste testing with homemade and store brands. That dude scored damn near everything -100 😂 there’s always something he has a gripe with
i love your channel💕
Thank you! 🙏🏽
You gotta do this with the new Cholula salsas. I'd be interested in seeing if theyre any good.
This just makes me realize, I don't think I have ever had AUTHENTIC, GOOD, SALSA.
My favourite store brand Salsa is Mrs. Renfros, but aside from that, this just makes me want to try and find as local as I can true salsa
Dunno where ya live and maybe it'll get expensive, but I'm sure you can find jalapenos (or serranos, maybe chipotle if you're lucky) and green tomato in a local store or supermarket.
You just need to buy those, add onion, a bit of garlic and boil all together (yes, all of it) for lets say one hour or so. Don't drip anything. Now, for the real deal: we mexicans usually smash the boiled mix using a "molcajete" (stone version of mortar and pestle) so the salsa is well mixed but not liquid. It needs to have chunks. Even the traditional molcajete adds a bit of "stony" flavor, which is considered a plus.
Some people like to use blender, to have a perfectly smooth texture. That's fine too. Useful if you plan to do enchiladas or similar stuff.
Whatever you choose, enjoy. Personally, I love tex-mex food too and I try to make my own chili with meat. Of course, it isn't as good as the southern version.
Dude it’s so fucking easy to make homemade salsa. Takes ten minutes at most
I would really love to know their homemade recipes so I could make and try them at home.
I want to see them try mrs. Renfro's line of salsas ...... 😊
Man! I was hoping you would include the Spicy Habanero and you did at the end, and they rated it way better than the others just like I figured.
Yes papa , now I only buy salsa from the deli section of the market, or make my own. Gentlemen you have good taste!
Chillest dads fr
Should have them try to taste the difference between multiple salsas at once. Like a homemade, store bought, and restaurant made salsa. Then have them rate them
My favorite store-bought salsa is called Casa Pablo's. Made in Missoula Montana.
Delicioso 🍅🌶️🧅🧄
Why did you buy the mild versions of all these salsas? They all sell a spicy variant. It's never going to be as good as something fresh, but they might have at least not have hated them as much if you gave them the ones labeled hot instead of mild. I feel like I just watched mexican dads being tortured with mild salsa
Also, it would have been interesting to see what they thought about El Pato sauce, in the yellow cans. We love that sauce.
I have an idead a cooking episode for either the mamas or the papas where they all make their own salsa and guac and then do a blind tasting of all of the ones made to see which one is the best and if they can recognize their own I would love this so much!!
The first 2 guy is a real Mexican he doesn't criticize the food. That's how you know it's good or not. He just tells you yes or no. That's all you need to know.
I loved those old pace commercials 😂😂😂😂😂
I may not have a real basalt molcajete, but I do have a granite mortar and pestle -- which is kind of close? I love making my own homemade salsa with it! Manufactured salsa will _never_ compare to homemade! But if I do want a store-bought salsa, I'm probably getting Herdez.
I live in a border town that's about 20mins away from San Luis, Mexico. In our town we only have 1 grocery store, 1 meat market, 2 fast foods, and 2 gas stations. That's it. That's all that makes up our town. The grocery store price gouges the food in there sometimes to $10 a box of cereal..so imagine the produce prices at times. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy the pre-made salsas because of the price gouging here 🥲 we do make homemade if we travel a little further to a dif town and get access to their grocery stores.
I have all the ingredients in my garden 😁
We need more Papah! Videos ❤
The best food is always homemade and FRESH. It's what separates the good from the bad.
Herdez has a roasted version of that Salsa verde that slaps. I like to add a little cilantro and sautéed jalapeño to wake it up a little.
I need papahs and mamahs together in a video!!!! PLEASE😭😭😭😭
For real though that Tostitos Habanero is awesome.
I'd love for them to show us how to make their own homemade salsa!
That’s funny my wife and tried that Habanero one at a party and get it every now and then. We said the same thing, its not better than a home salsa but for a quick buy, that’s the one to get.
The thing is you gotta look at the ingredients used. When I or my family make a home made salsa we never add vinegar or extra oils its just the base ingredients. The reason store bought salsas taste sour or synthetic is because of all the additives and a lot of store salsas use heavy amounts of vinegar as a cheap additive for taste.
I was waiting for one they would all be at least okay about. Had to watch the whole video to find chunky habanero. Now i know which salsa to buy at the store 😂
Video suggestion: rank/rate/review different coffee. Homemade ones vs like Starbucks, Dutch bros, scooters, etc. kinda like the Bobba tea video
The best store bought Salsa I ever had was El Sabroso but it's almost impossible to find.
As someone with bad stomach problems, I'm glad salsa exists that isn't spicy
I need them to make their own salsas 😫
Negative 1,000 😂😂
I'm glad I saw this. It reminded me that the landscapers will be here tomorrow morning
They should rate their own homemade salsa.
This!!
Yes
I always make my salsa from scratch but I always keep a herdez guacamole salsa. That’s the best store bought salsa hands down.
Surprised On the Border wasn't shown. It isn't the best salsa but I find the taste of it better than Tostitos. Then again, I'm a big fan of cumin and they go heavy with the cumin in that one.
U should of done homemade salsa vs store bought
Homie started eating chile hella young 😂😂😂
"No manches"🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please have them try Mrs. Renfro's line. Cheese sauce, ghost pepper, and Carolina Reaper. Bonus points if you use Ghost Pepper chips. Also reaper salsa from pukerbutt pepper company.
Making your own salsa is so rewarding. Also a big time flex rolling up to the party and you get to tell people you created a kickass salsa from scratch
Back in the day one night a week you could get $1 bean burrito from taco bell.. and if you asked they'd put on green hot sauce.. being students and poor we'd get 30 of them and eat all week. Thank god for good plumbing .. but it was better with the green salsa
Do a part 2 with spicy ones
The only store bought ones we do is from the Mexican Grocery stores in the deli area
What about refrigerated store-bought salsas?
Should included Mrs Renfros ghost pepper salsa. So good.
For store bought, Tapatio is my fav. I put it on everything!
They gotta try Mateo's habanero salsa, literally the best store bought salsa
If i could find a salsa recipe collection cookbook from multiple people. I would love to try it.
I trust these ratings
My mom told me the truth behind the green sauce from HERDEZ. Warm it up, add 1 or 2 Chiles, and blend it again. For more flavor, fire roast them . For more spice add more Chiles.
Internet Shaquille was posting crazy a while back about how the trick to a good Salsa rojas is less tomato than you think you need. Same is true for salsa verde and the tomatillos. These sauce companies love using tonnes of these 2 because they are very high in moisture so they can pack it to a liquid which is easy to preserve. A good homemade salsa isn't so wet and that means you can taste the mixture of flavours much better.
This is why every Salsa verde here was "too sour, not spicy".
The missed the best one! Sadies!
The dad with glasses is too dramatic low key😂
I always buy the tostitos Habenro Salsa, its always my go too when buying chips and dips and dont feel like making homemade salsa. Glad these guys gave that a much better score than the others. I can still hold on to my latino card.😅
