multi segment display - so no pixels involved - did you not try to resolder all the joints first - it may have just been a dry solder joint from age - the display might have been ok? that aside great content

@@Ratarossa - Nice markup on a < £1 part... www.elpro.org/gb/215-16-segmente-1-stellig
(Being pedantic, they're segments in this case not pixels!)
@@Ratarossa Where did you get your red display from? I am in Canada, my display is missing a few segments on my 1998 F1. I was looking online but not sure the exact one to buy. The number stamped on mine is no longer readable. Thank you for any help you can give me.
@@Ratarossa do you have a link for me please? I have send a mail to elpro. But do you have a link at ebay for me please? greetings Marc
elpro does not have them anymore
Hello. Iam french. Where i can buy this. I have the same probleme. Thanks
how did you know the orientation of the display"
Im not sure but as each wire goes to a segment and as the display appears to be symmetrical both vertically and horizontally it may not matter. If orientation is important I expect there’s something written on the chip to show you.
Orientation definitely matters. Look closely and you’ll see that the display has a decimal point round led in one corner. Make sure the new one goes back in the same way as the old one.
Hi , from can i found to buy a display please
Oh Jeez...I was holding my breath when you test-fired the display. I was hoping the LED display wasn't soldered in upside down. I'm sure it was directional. You have to make those things idiot-proof so the average knuckle-dragging tech could do it. Wait....they'd just replace the whole module and charge thousands.
If you thought that was difficult try removing and soldering a new screen on an Audi cluster.
@@gplusgplus2286 Man....cars today are SOOOO overly complicated (with all the features) that all it takes is one little capacitor or other electronic do-dad to kill the entire car.
H
they missed a trick there by not having that octal display on a plug in module
get some braid and flux...
