@@slimehousetv truth. Found you through retro ghetto and absolutely love your content even thought it’s not my chosen viewing. You’re amazing at your craft as well as video/editing.
As a late 80's early 90's kid, I can confirm this looks like something playmates would have made in the early 90's. You knocked it out of the park, dude.
I think the Mk6 Corvus Pattern Marines actually come from the 80's, so that kinda reinforces the decision for the M7 Aquila Pattern representing the 90's.
The bright colors, chunky proportions and accessories are spot-on. They probably would have come with a net-launcher or something, too -- everything came with a net-launcher whether it made sense or not! 😂
Whoa!!!! These are PERFECT representations of the 90's toy aesthetic... I remember Kay-Bee toys (not sure if you guys had that store in the UK-- kind of a mall-based toy shop chain that was huge in the 80's and 90's here in the States) being absolutely jammed with big, chunky, 5-8 POA figures like old ToyBiz Marvel figures or Kenner Aliens vs Predator and Terminator figures... this design you've made fits in perfectly with them! Totally bonkers cool, man! 👏👏👏
Pro Tip for painting yellow. Paint it over pink. Sounds weird, but pink covers really well over other colours and yellow goes down nicely over the top.
Those are sick as hell. The way they're designed could lead to a lot of modularity. You know, if you retooled the center of the Aquila you could make that modular as well. A skull, tear drop, maybe even drop a costume gem in there. For content creators I'd say midwinter minis and MS Paints, if you don't mind international shipping I'd say Maniac and Ninjon.
Ok, to explain, the White arrow is the codex symbol for a battle line unit, meaning just a marine with a simple boltgun. The gold/yellow trim means he's part of the 2nd company of the 10 companies a codex compliant chapter has. 1st company has white, 2nd yellow/gold, 3rd red, 4th green and all the others have their own. The 10th is a pure scout company.
I remember those pots...Enchanted Blue, Snot Green...loved them...got them in the early 90s and was still using some of them around 2011-2012 while newer GW pots had dried into acrylic plumb-bobs in just a year or two...lol
For Ultramarines and chapters following the Codex Astartes very closely the color of the trim on the pauldron denotes the company the marine is part of. The second company of the Ultramarines uses both yellow and gold (just like the first company uses both silver and white). The wings on the chest have no standardized color as far as I know. Fantastic retro action figures. I especially like the red and black Space Marine (my own custom chapter wears black armor with red pauldrons and faceplates). It reminds me of the Flesh Tearers color scheme.
In terms of heraldry, gold and yellow are interchangeable, hence the yellow trim on the 90s marines. The same applies for white & silver too. Great vid & lovely looking toy at the end
If you get the green light from GW to put these out and enough eyes see them youre going to give Joytoy a huge run for their money. Absolutely amazing work, bravo.
As a huge fan of old school Warhammer 40k stuff this is actually so accurate to the original space Marine miniatures seeing this miniatures in action figure form it's actually pretty cool man I'm surprised that Joy toy has not even do this yet, but you did a really amazing job though.
These are fantastic! I've never gotten into 40K more than just the video games, but had these been out in the 90's I'd have been absolutely mad for them! The paint is amazing, the size is excellent, and the whole aesthetic is exactly what I think of when anyone mentions 40k. Wonderful work!
astounding work there mate, this whole video has been a big hit of nostalgia, nearly bust a nut seeing all those old White Dwarf mags. and that was before you mentioned making a Dreadnaught.
First off: this is FANTASTIC! I've never seen your channel before, but this is so cool! I'm sure someone else has pointed this out, but the vertical arrow on the shoulder literally means it's a Tactical Marine. An X-shape with arrowheads in each direction means it's an Assault (jump pack) marine, and Devastator Squads have a triangle/delta symbol. These are just the basic "Codex Compliant" symbols, though, because the codexes always offer a bunch of alternatives.
@@slimehousetv I wouldn't worry too much, there's always going to be some exception somewhere, the hobby is set up to accommodate individual creativity after all! Seriously, these are so cool, thank you for showing this off! :D

Snap on roller skates, modular fore arms that can function as anything from launching projectiles to a base for a giant morningstar weapon, in addition to all manner of other accessories from jet packs to entirely new limbs.
