I wouldn't say the Moog Prodigy is "simple", but it sure looks fun in this guy's hands. He does a great job of explaining and demonstrating the 2001 different effects.
If you feel like explaining how to use my SQ-1 with my DAW (Logic) and Korg MS 20 mini, I'd love to hear your explanations on that subject. I'm having a helluva time getting it all synced up. :)

I'd been building my own little noisy machines for years before I could afford a proper one, but when the (horrible!) DX7s and the like came out, loads of people traded Prodigies and MS20s in. During the mid 1980s you could pick a second hand one really cheaply! My Prodigy was £80.

I got an MF102 with not much idea of what to do with it (I'm a bass player) thanks to channels like yours, I'm getting into this amazing world of machines doing blip blip blip sounds. Thanks!
40 years on, and still got my model 1, along with original packing case, polystyrene packing pieces and original documentation! -You missed one switch though! - the "TRACKING" on the VCF "off" "half" and "full" - made soooo much difference when recreating "real world" instruments - still, when you have to explain to the kids "monophonic" means, and how the signal paths are managed by components not algorithms in a digital processor, I suppose something has to give!

I knew all about this synth and how analog synths work (i’ve got a jx3p and my dads yamaha cs20m) but this prodigy is a synth my dad owned and sold many many years ago and deeply regrets selling it. I wish he still had it too! I’ll get one someday. Don’t lose faith in young people not playing & learning about real synths! I’m 18, own a dx7 among other digital synths as well as the analog ones but only hardware, no software :) Looking forward to watching more videos on your channel, thanks for the content

This video is really helpful, and thank you for not being a condescending techy know-it-all! My Prodigy only has one line-out, can this go through a modulator and then through an amp? I don't have one, but someone said my synth is useless because it only has one line-out... And that I have to modify it to have multiple outs.. Or should I just use it straight up through an amp? That's what I've been doing and been getting some cool sounds. Thanks to your vid I wanna dust it off and give it another go!
Thanks for the nice feedback! All you do is connect the line out to an amp via a modulator or pedal if you have one. I have no idea what your friend is saying about multiple line outs unless it's suggesting you can access some of the control voltages to drive something else. Don't do it! You've got a classic machine so don't start hacking into it ~ just have fun!
I love my Moog Prodigy too! I have the 336A model... How steady is your modulation? It seems nearly impossible to have a drum machine playing, sync the modulation, and have it sustain and keep to the beat. On mine, I have to keep tweaking it very slightly to keep it on beat if I play one note. Not sure if that is just my unit or if that happens with everyone. Still a great machine - I use my Moog Prodigy in every video on my channel! Sweet synth
You're asking a lot of an old analogue synth to keep perfect time! These things were built with pitch bend and modulation/tremolo so the keyboard player could compete on stage with the guitarist, while the drummer was drunk and the bass player was leering at the audience. Nobody could have imagined the standards that modern machines expect to work to. Yes, the drift in timing and pitch can be a bit frustrating, but to me it's part of their charm!

I nearly traded my Korg MS20 and Prodigy for a DX7 back in the 1980s. So glad I didn't!
Moog himself said that it can be pronounced either way. Moog sounds cooler.
I have one I bought for bass mainly. I heard it said some people even prefer the PROD to the Mini.

How much does it costs to install a CV gate into the early model of Prodigy? The later Prodigy has CV, but older Prodigy does not.
