Actually the first Thumpin' Thursday bass I've ever really wanted to own.
Zelomeister no shit huh!
Now that's a heck of a relic job 53 years in the making.
That's the only to make that otherwise you're a poser.
jeff1586er so true
I don't play bass and I want that bass.
right!
I play bass and I ABSOLUTELY want that bass.
Nikki Sixx took this, this one is awesome!
Fender custom shop relic bass in today standard
#ThumpinThursday #1965FenderYazzBass
1) Hey Joe/Jimi Hendrix
2) Spirit of Radio/RUSH 🇨🇦
3) Ramble On/Zeppelin
Vibey McVibestrom Lake Algae Green/Lake Placid Blue. great sounding RnR jazz machine
great demo Mark, Hi Jen 🎥🎸
Where have you been? I've been looking through the comments every GOTD upload!
I was hoping for Warpigs
Grant Higashi sometimes my comments drop off. RUclips bug
I should have added the "Mike M. ---" before my comment (my bad)
Three great songs.
Nothing like a Fender that's been there a done that.
Jazz basses have always been my go to bass. Lot of range in tones. Simply awesome vibe.
still blows my mind the amount of knowledge Mark has on guitars, seems like he knows everything
cole vanbalen google
Not Google, he only uses that for the makes he's less familiar with. He's an acknowledged specialist regarding a few makes...Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, Gretsch & Martin.
Prevagen???
Coolest bass you’ve done yet.
I enjoyed the Ramble On. Tasty licks, lovingly played. Real mojo, not factory-made.😎
That awesome narrow neck...and that TONE.
God damn is that ramble on bass line smoooooth
I’m in love with this bass, super tones, super vibe, it’s been places.... Marc, never seen you smile so much over a bass. Norm should gift it to you - you deserve it. Just fab! 👌🏻🖤 thank you!
That tone with both pickups on.....fucking so good.
Nice. I actually like the green color it has transformed into.
The comments here are excellent and show appreciation for something real. In this poseur world of brand new ripped jeans and brand new relic guitars, it’s a beautiful thing to see and appreciate something genuine. Much love for this - even Thumpin Thursday haters have to stand back and admire this treasure. Great job Mark!
Nice Bass. Love the "Pond Algae Green". This looks like a good bass to sell to Ron Blair! I bet he would like that Jazzy Goodness.:)
What! Think about the play history on that bass. Awesome as always.
Thanks for this demo. I forgot how fabulous an old Jazz Bass could sound. Plus the babes loved Jazz Bass players long time.
That is the coolest bass I have ever seen....and I am not kidding. Whoever owned that...it was their only bass no doubt
And some idiot commented that they'd like a refinish. How insane is that?
mel obrien ummm yeah....really insane
Perfect selection of tunes for the "Creature"....love this bass.
Yay! I have a jazz bass in my music room. Great show Mark and Jen.
I ain't no soothsayer, but I predict that this bass is gonna go real fast. That is fantastic!
As Jen would say "Byeeeee."
Dude that is fantastic. It vibrated my floor.
Oh wow. I've never wanted a bass more in my life.
That thing is just monstrously AWESOME!!! Lake Algae Green, and sounds KILLER!!!! Hey, what's this? a Thumpin' Thursday that I enjoyed!!! Bet that bass doesn't stick around very long! Congrats to the highest bidder!
That has to be the best bass I’ve seen on this show so far! I said “GOD DAMN!!” All the FEELS!!!...and I’m not even a bass player.
I seriously think this is the best sounding bass in this youtube channel.
This bass is so rad: I love Guitar of the Day! I’ve showed the series to my friends at college (and they really love Jen)! My 20th birthday is tomorrow (5/18) and if it’s not too late to request a shout-out I’d love one: my favorite day is Flat Top Friday so I definitely lucked out this year! Rock on, guys -Chris Bassani, NJ (bus-on-ee)
Nice choice, very cool swampy vibe thanks !
That has to be the best sounding old J bass you have given us a demo on!!!!!
Awesome set list to match the vibe!🤘
Now that is a badass bass! Love it!
Really liked the sound of that. Great song selection too. Im kinda getting into thumpin Thursday.........
Does this Lake Placid Blue Fender Jazz make you non flaccid? Ahhh (it's a cover soo).. 1.Hey Joe" 2.Rush "Spirit Of Radio" 3.Led Zeppelin "Ramble On"
Damn. Old Fender bass that's seen some playing. i always feel like the story of rock and soul and all that good stuff is right in front of me when i look at one of these. i think i'm in love. Again.
An instrument with a story to it, just lovely. @3:00 I wonder if any of the custom shop's master builders would think otherwise if they had watch this, man a replica of that finish would be so cool!
Oh man, the 61 oh C-Mon maan lol , thanks Mark ✌️ and Jen 🌷
That sir, is ridiculous!!
Wow! Love it!!!
Freaking rad bass......I like the minty stuff.....but the stories that a worn guitar would have is cool too.....nicely done as always Mark and Jenn......👍👍
Sounds great!
That thing sounds amazing.
I'm typically happy when we pass over Thumping Thursday but even I want that bass.
I'm in love!
(again)
Very well loved instrument. Somebody poured a lot of emotion into that thing. I bet if you play it right. It’ll tell you some of its secrets
Sorry to say that I haven't been watching as much lately, but I'm glad I caught this one. Ramble on is one of the only Zep songs I can really get into. Love that bass line! Play some Zappa some day...I dare you.
Beautiful ...
this is the most coolest bass ever, the sound and the look its amazing!!! I wonder how much cost.....
Now that is a real relic ,,
Blue, green or purple...sounded great
As 4 string guitars go that's pretty amazing. 3 great songs too.
this thing sounds incredible, hope the next owner continues its legacy!
I'm really happy you played a Rush song but I wish it would've been a different one.
Wish my usa 2015 jazz sounded and looked as good. That's a great bass.
Do Fender still use paint materials that do this? I love the idea of paint changing over time. Also some of the coolest wear n tear I've seen.... Am I right in saying you'd never get a new guitar to do that over time because of newer paint types? I wish they made certain models from nitro
That thing is sick do so rad!!!!!
Damn I bet that one could tell some stories. Coolest bass I’ve seen on here? Quite probably.
Shes been around some gigs i like it !
Love it. You couldn’t make that up. Great song s.
FUCK! so much vibiness oh my God! You’re on a roll this week hoping for a sick straturday. Keep it up my brother
Oh man, that bass has seen action
Screw the Hendrix Estate
That worn part on the upper body cutaway, is from the sleeve zipper of the former owners leather. Same as the wear on the back, all zipper.
It's not mint, but more importantly, it's not fake wear and tear on it from the custom shop. That bass is fucking gorgeous.
That is some really nice age on that thing!!
Yeah man !!
Nice one mark great video,, have you seen Frank lately??
That's Nice!!!!!
Finally he did Ramble on I have watched all of the bass episodes hoping to hear it suffering through the bass
Someone loved and played the shit out of it.
what amp are you using?? sounds fantastic
Wooo!
My lord that bass has bigtime vibe
Nikki sixx bought it...pretty sweet bass
Was that a strap button on the back of the headstock?
Happy THUMPIN' Thursday
everyone. Definitely better than
a 'relic' version! Hey Mark, how
narrow is it @the nut?
Matthew Paluch If it’s a Fender Jazz it’s 1.5” at the nut. Nice and fast. A P-bass from the same era would be 1.75” by comparison. Modern P-bass is 1.625” but the modern Jazz is still 1.5”.
I'm probably the biggest HATER of thumpin Thursday, HOWEVER I gotta give this one up to you bass guys! This guitar has IT. FUCKING RAD. Thanks guys! BYEEEEEE 🎸🔥🎸🔥
That (to my eyes) looks like it faded to British Racing Green. Thanks...now I have to have a British Racing Green Jazz Bass.
Great demo tho!
I wonder who has owned this.
The movie Lake Placid was about an alligator so I say change the color name to gator green...Nice choice of songs, Mark...
Man, somebody L O V E D that instrument!
Awesome bass and I’m not even a bass player lol. Look what good shape the case is in! Haha I feel there is a reason for that. Usually either the case or the guitar one is beaten. I doubt this bass spent much time in the case.
This thing got maaad mojo!
I got 1965 fender jazz bass sunburst.
The colour (yes, that's the correct spelling) reminded me of my old Sherwood Green Strat...
Color colour couleur calor, wha'? Green is the colour of my true-loved PRS (that last bit needs work).
Why was Larry the Cable Guy wandering around in the background?
sounds great,if I played a 4 string I would want it,Badly.
Wow...
I'm not normally a fan of Jazzes, they're usually a bit too trebly for me. but this one has some nice midrange to it and I think that Lake Placid Green might just be cooler that Pelham Green.
GEEZ that tone with both pickups... Jazz bass on steroids
The Jacket!
I can dig it.
Mr.Stranger DUG
AARRG........it's beautiful....
Someone's started drinking a little earlier today......get some help little curtis.....
Cool enough for its new owner, Nikki Sixx. Surely out of my price range.
annnnnnnnd... Sixx just bought it. Nice.
How much?
I think you will probably find hat the
"greenish" finish is due to the bass being played in smokey clubs.
Looks like you could get a disease just picking that thing up!!! LOL Love it!!
LOL
It would be perfect for a Lysol commercial... lol
a 1 of. definitely a custom colour
Dammit Mark, do you remember what happenned the last time you played some jimi hendrix? ;)
That's a real players bass. That was someone's work horse. Looks very cool and just years ago if you wanted to sell it nobody would give it a second thought. Just a beat up old Fender. Now it's in vogue to have one so beat up. Gotta love the fact nobody used a can of spray paint on it.
