In my career I've had 6 emergencies, 3 of them catastrophic. What you're teaching here can definitely save lives.

On my second flying lesson the instructor did a severe slip and I thought it was the end. He laughed. Lessons were $13 a half hour. 1962. Cub J3
I like these lower angles that show your stick and rudder work more. I didn't appreciate how far and tightly I'd have to pull the stick back in the Cub back until I flew with Mark.
The J-3 has a “tell” when it reaches the stall. The bottom door half will always raise up for a second right at the time it quits flying. The Cub’s built-in stall indicator. 😊
I noticed yours perfectly coordinated at the moment of touchdown.

Many pilots of light and vintage planes have a Velcro patch on their pants and Velcro a tablet/phone there to use a GPS screen or another nav application or the weather or even local aircraft traffic. Relax, he's not taking calls or texting. "They have an app for that "

Wow! That was beautiful. Do you have right rudder pretty much at full deflection on the slip approach?
Yes I do!
Back in the 51 I soloed a J3. We were flying of a short field with power lines on one end and trees on the other. We flew Champs, T Craft and the Cub out of that field with no problems. Come in a little high then slip it in. Later I went to the big city and I wanted to continue my flying. All that was available was a 140 Cessna. The instructor was checking me out. Everything went great until the landing. The runway was over 9000 ft. On final I was high so I did what came naturally, I put it in a slip and landed on the numbers. I was talked to very unpleasantly and then introduced to things called flaps.
@@leroyburkett9904 I've had similar experiences. Sounds like you had some great aircraft you've flown. I am enjoying exploring the envelop and all the tools I have in my toolbox to fly. I like coming in high because when I flew B-52 patterns, if I were to lose the engine I would not make the field. Safe flying and thanks for sharing my love of flying.

That was a 9.1/2 point landing the older cubs had no flaps so to slow it down the would crab?, push on the rudder making it fly sideways creating

I guess the passenger in front reads the gauges and relays it to the pilot behind .
@guynoir4733 Pilot in rear typically flies by the seat of the pants and feel on controls.

What is the passenger holding?
If you're referring to the rear seat pilot, he has the throttle in his left hand and the stick in his right. He appears to be the one performing the slip maneuver.
