Where does it say in the Javelin lightning description, you don't attack with disadvantage upto 120 ft, it's still a javelin when you throw it, same rules apply, you throw with disadvantage for long range, all it says the lightning extends to 120 ft, which is the max range of the javelin.
Never heard of Pariah shield before thx. Very nice niche mechanic in the 5e context. Already brainstorm a tiny kobold Phalanx the party can bowling into and play with positions and shove
I would think that the Watchful helm would be a helm covered by living, blinking, "watchful" eyes, that would turn and look at things going on around them. it would probably be pretty creepy just to be around, always looking over peoples shoulders and getting interested in things that may not be polite to acknowledge
You go to do your business in the brush away from the party. Roll perception, 18, you notice the eyes on your paladin's helm are staring, unblinking at you directy...
As series of shorts isn’t a bad idea, I am quite partial to a series of Top 5 Legendary Items/Artifacts for each class. Of course it is ultimately up to you.
I've played a Dex Paladin. He was quite strong - not entirely because of being Dex focused though. 19 AC with chain mail, a shield, and the Marine fighting style. I could push it higher, but that usually worked for me. It helped to be dextrous for saving throws, but the main benefit is the high AC in numerous terrain. If you are playing a landlocked campaign without much variance, I don't think focusing dex on a paladin is necessarily that great.
I didn't play a DEXadin, but the one time I played a Paladin he picked up a Longbow from the first fight against bandits and I made more attack rolls with that Longbow using my +1 DEX instead of my sword. And we weren't running some stealth/never let them get near you game either. Fights were fair and our Sorcerer was also in melee most fights by choice (he also had incredible stats rolled but still). From a range my 6 Vengance Paladin/2 Grave Cleric was a bigger boon to the team with 2 nonmagical arrows a turn than I ever was trying to Smite with my +7 to hit Longsword attacks. And the 1 time our backline was jumped, they tried to jump a Paladin.
I'm playing a Dex paladin right now in Out of the Abyss. Potential Spoilers for OotA. Oath of the Watchers, Shadar-Kai, Alert Feat (same effect you mentioned with the Watchful Helm) - My party goes first - No ambushes - We got Dawnbringer, she's been an insane asset down there - +2 Studded Drow Armor - Blessing of the Raven Queen is an insane tanking ability. In this specific campaign, stealth and a high dex has let us avoid a lot of encounters early on a still proves useful. I love paladin's and its been a nice change of pace.
I have a dex based Paladin that I’m playing in a seafaring campaign. He has studded leather a magic buckler and a cloak of displacement and so he’s basically untouchable by attack rolls.
Amulet of the Devout does not specify what kind of spells the bonus to attack works on, it just says "your spells", so it will work if you multiclass. My Hexblade-Paladin makes good use of this for Eldritch Blast for his ranged attacks. Don't underestimate the save DC bonus too since that is pretty hard to raise. It can help offset a STR based paladin who hasn't maxed out CHA yet when using saving throw spells against enemies.
In my mind a Watchful Helm looks like a Samurai Kabuto, with a stylised "Third Eye" on the forehead (either painted on in like Demon Blood, or like an IRL Greek/Italian/Eastern European 'warding off the evil eye' charm).
I am playing a Dex Paladin and played one in the past. A long story but I run for Adventure league and one young player wanted to play a sailor paladin that warships a megalodon and this is what we came up with. The one I currently am playing is the Pirate/Privateer Background Oath of Ancients. He hunts down Pirates in the Saltmarsh Setting. As a new cabin boy when our ship was attacked only me and a Jr mate survived. As he was being set adrift he asked for water. The crew laughed tossing me over board to saying laws of the sea brat. As he was about to kill me for my blood a megalodon ate him whole losing a tooth in the place. This is when I was wishing doe a fish when a whip of water came forth lashing a fish. (the DM let me take Magical Initiate (Primal) for Guidance and Thorn Whip) I was found by a band of Sahuagin Raider I tried to stand up to them with the shark tooth. The Shaman stopped them and me claiming I was chosen by there God He looks half elf but that is the blessing or curse of Sekolah (Forgotten Realms) Sahuagin god of the hunt, Seas, and Sharks. I have the stats of a Water Genasi but his father was/is a Half Elf (Malenti a Sahuagin that is born looking like an Aquodic Elf). We have a Phantoms Warlock, Strom Harald Barbarian (Seas) and a human fighter with an armor of the mariner.
In regards to the Devotee’s Censor healing enemies, being that healing is good aligned or positive based (I might be going by outdated knowledge from previous editions), wouldn’t that do damage to undead or demons and such instead of healing them? Or is that a DM discretion type of thing? I would understand if the enemies were anything but those two types but I would imagine it would help you and hurt them in those type of fights
I think regardless the healing is start of your turn so 1d4 would be enough to revivify your teammates and your basic attack would be more then enough to overcome 1d4 healing any enemies would recover so its a good trade off.
Glory Paladins get Guiding Bolt as an Oath Spell. But notice the Amulet of the Devout doesn't specify only Cleric and Paladin spells benefit from the buff. So if you dip into another casting class, those spells get buffed as well.
I don’t think adamantine armor can actually absorb a crit from a pariahs shield. The shield says that when your ally takes damage, you take the damage instead, not that the attack targets you.
I thought plate armor added your dexterity to your ac so I played a dex based Paladin. My dm also thought dex added to ac, so that was fun. Though now that I know the truth, I probably won’t be playing a dex paladin again.
@@NerdImmersion I thought so too. Our party might have some other way of getting wish in our campaign, so Holy Avenger it is. Also while I have you, as a paladin expert. I've already got 20 str and 16 in con and cha. Which should I increase my con or my cha? Love your videos btw. Keep up the great work!
@@NerdImmersion Yeah. With the item and the better aura that comes with increasing my Cha. I might be able to tell a story about how protecting becomings more important than my character's more violent ways atm. Thanks for the advice Ted. Great vibes from Belgium
Art is great but I think having specific art for an item makes it feek like there is some factory cranking out this brand of magic item. I prefer to think that items look different from crafter to crafter. And if you show the picture to the character, then they know what they have if they have seen it before. Kind of spoils some mystery and takes a lot of the shine off identify.
Not a really good video for Paladins, other than the flail there are no real items that helps deal more damage, they are mostly for support type Paladins.

They extended the survey for the playtest, I think it was to the 26th?

Top 10 Magic Items For oathbreaker Paladins
I actually got the Pariahs shield for my Paladin of Ilmater. It’s super interesting, as hes all about taking the suffering of others
Never heard of Pariah shield before thx.
Very nice niche mechanic
in the 5e context.

A series of shorts listing consumables, legendaries, and other magical items you find noteworthy would be an amazing mini-series.
I remember when the Pearl of Power was a one use consumable. 5e really empowered an already useful item to greater heights.
I would think that the Watchful helm would be a helm covered by living, blinking, "watchful" eyes, that would turn and look at things going on around them. it would probably be pretty creepy just to be around, always looking over peoples shoulders and getting interested in things that may not be polite to acknowledge

matches the robe of eyes, I like it!
Would love to see the short videos on the ultimate magic items per class
As series of shorts isn’t a bad idea, I am quite partial to a series of Top 5 Legendary Items/Artifacts for each class. Of course it is ultimately up to you.
Thanks for this! My dm needs me to pick a rare item to maybe get later on and this really helped
Very informative. Needs more likes.

Never had the chance to try Prayer Beads or the Flail, I'll have to ask about those next time I play a paladin!

Oath of the Watchers, Shadar-Kai, Alert Feat (same effect you mentioned with the Watchful Helm)

I once had an inquisitor cathar in an Innistrad campaign wielding a rapier, but that campaign died almost as soon as it started.
I think the Watchful Helm has a bunch of eyes that are constantly looking around and never blink.
That is a great idea for shorts, I'd watch it :-)
I think you should one good sized video for each legendary item best suited to each class instead of a dozen micro videos.

I don't think Dexterity is an issue for the Javelin of Lightning, can't you use Strength for thrown attack rolls?
You can only throw a javelin with Strength

Shhhhhh keep it secret, keep it safe
Watchful helm has a pair of gems set in the helm, the gems are cat's eye gems
I would like to see a list of items that dont require attunment!
99.4K! So close….
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
First to comment, it would be great to hear about legendary
yes do a legendary video
Isn’t the necklace of prayer beads “consumable”. Once the beads are used they’re gone I thought?
Nope recharge next day at dawn

Love these videos. But are you not doing the Dmsguild round up videos anymore?
It's a bit in Flux since my contact at the DM's Guild left. Working to sort that out today
@@NerdImmersion sorry to hear that. Hopefully it works out. Keep up the great work
I am surprised that the animated Shield didn't make the List. A free Hand to do the somatic component use you holy symbol is usefull.
well if your holy symbol is on your shield you don't need the free hand
the devotee's censer is not just 10d4 healing, it's 10d4 x the number of allies you have, that's 40 or 50d4 on average that item is busted
Might as well ask it here. What do all of you guys think is the better magic item for a 20th level paladin. A luck blade or a holy avenger?
I love the Holy Avenger, it's just too iconic
@@NerdImmersion I thought so too. Our party might have some other way of getting wish in our campaign, so Holy Avenger it is. Also while I have you, as a paladin expert. @@jonasdemulder9317 I'd go Charisma for the save bonus
@@NerdImmersion Yeah. With the item and the better aura that comes with increasing my Cha. I might be able to tell a story about how protecting becomings more important than my character's more violent ways atm. Thanks for the advice Ted. Great vibes from Belgium
Javelin of Lightning used to be consumables.
Please do druids next.
It's been alphabetical, I already did druids.

@@NerdImmersion woot thanks buddy!
Even if you use the Tasha’s fighting style you won’t get cantrips with attack rolls because they’re cleric cantrips
True!
I like to put spells like haste or mirror image in pearl of Power for martial classes
Dam, I’m planing to play a blind, dex base paladin so most of these aren’t good for him

Who sleeps with a helm on?
Season 1 of critical role vax Dex base paladin
Dex based paladin is a bit of stretch for Vax. I know he had levels in paladin sure, but he was a rogue first and foremost
@@NerdImmersion near the end especially in roleplay he was a paladin and usually cast bless before combat then dealt damage, that's a paladin
Not a really good video for Paladins, other than the flail there are no real items that helps deal more damage, they are mostly for support type Paladins.
