Just came across your videos; had no idea some of these were worth more than face value. Been keeping £2 coins since they came out and have about 400 of them. Just looked through and found about 50 commemorative ones, including 3 Commonwealth games (2 English, 1 welsh). Got a bit excited when I found I had 3 abolition of the slave trade with the edge writing upsde down since there are some on Ebay for hundreds of pounds, but soon found that that is utter bollocks!
A few weeks ago I would have lumped coin collecting with train spotting butterfly catching stamp collecting and all other things you need to be a bit strange to enjoy but I find myself drawn to your videos and worryingly find myself enjoying them.
This is why I like watching ur coin hunts u say it how it is no bull shitting great vid 👍👍

I pulled a commonwealth coin out the till yesterday, I thought it was England at first glance but turned out to be an NI, I was super stoked!
When you finished looking through the miss alignment coins,you picked out all the commemorative ones except the slave trade,i hope you found it again.17.16 theres only 3 coins on the counter not 4.

Writing round the side can be either way up, as the writing was printed first. Check royal mint website

I've sat in the pub before with a couple of mates and we just emptied our pockets of change. Then we googled the coins and most were on line for more that face value.
My point is though, you have find someone who will pay you reasonably promptly for it to be worth while.
Loads of those I have never seen before. I do not go out of my way to get £2 coins, but I do check every one that comes my way. I guess the fact I live in 180 odd miles west of London might account for it in that almost everything had already been checked, re-checked, sifted and sorted by 10,000 people before it eventually arrives here (even though the Royal Mint is just up the road so to speak). Last year I bought a 2016 £1 with the queen's head upside down. How rare/valuable is that? Should I hang onto it for 10yrs? I did laugh when the 2016 £1 coins were being listed on Ebay for crazy sums; Apparently the Royal Mint issued 500,000 early in 2016 when Official Release was 2017; They were supposed to be returned to the Mint but somehow ended up in Scotland; People thought they were FAKE £1 coins. I've been collecting them ever since : )
Misaligned dots and weak strikes on the lettering around the edge of the collar are not really ‘errors’, they’re more like ‘variants’, like the lefty £1 coins are.

Looks to me as though the "Pemember" error is mostly a result of wear and tear, rather than an error in the minting itself...
i had new coins with pemember had a few, but slowly there taking out of service for the error , not wear
Ive found it to be 50/50. In fact its a bit like the beading alignment; more are flawed and trying to find a nicely struck example is harder than finding a fudged one.

The gunpowder plot coins you were showing look to be struck poorly & you can see they are in fact R's , the gunpowder plot coin I have is clearly struck & pronounced & without doubt a P …..I think there's most probably a lot of poorly struck coins & maybe a lot of error coins with a P , not that it matters to much , still only worth a couple of quid

You mentioned a copper 10p I have a copper 20p struck from a 1p blank , fair to say it's extremely rare I did read stories of a guy finding one and people offer huge somes of money for it

A question :) if you got £400 of £2 coins from your bank (wonders) how many would be re-sellable on ebay?? and from your £400 investment how much profit would you make?? just stumbled on this vidio - pulls up a lot of questions :)
Go through every video, discount the time it takes to commentate and focus, add up the resale values that pop up in the top left and then subtract £2 for every one. The profit across the channel could well work out at something like £10 an hour when you take into account the time it takes to deal with eBay and postage. Of course, coin value can go up or down over years so some will be collected and stored for any length of time. Then there is AdSense money - this video alone might have made £400 or so.
I fell for the PEMEMBER "error" and bought one on ebay for my friend who collects coins.
ERRORS: Buckle up, here come two errors in this video; first, the bag opened at 3:05, you didn't check the reverse of the first coin... second, the bag opened at 5:00, the Abolition of Slavery coin was discarded into the Technologies bag at 7:16. The second error wasn't anything to lose sleep over, but what about that first coin? What was it? Welsh Commonwealth Games? Navy error? Olympic Handover? Chances are it was a Technologies £2, but... will you sleep tight after reading this? Every time you wonder about that first coin it will be me living in your head rent free. Remember Vincent Price laughing at the end of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' video? That is the sound you should now be hearing echoing inside your head. Come to think of it...I want to know what that coin was too. We're all DOOMED!

I watched the whole video and I loved it :) I have about kg of old (and fairly recent) coins from many nations and era's, that my father left me, they are interesting to look at:)
I actually had a solid one-piece two pound coin and thought nothing of it, hope it wasn't worth much more.
I don’t think they should be considered errors if they are just as common as the correct minting, plus I think if someone pays more than face value for a 2 pound with some misaligned dots they are pretty stupid when the likelihood is they have one in their change

I was watching a documentary abut Fake £2 coins.
They said that the Royal Mint estimates that 10% of the coins in circulation are fake.?
They are so good now they are almost impossible to detect and the Royal mint refers to them as misaligned.
Even the banks issued them.
Are fake coins the issue that has been made out by the media ?
I found a Paddington 50p coin in ma purse and the next day it wasn’t there!!!

Making profit from a coin collection requires a lot of time and patience. Have a look on eBay for the coin you have found, it will give you a rough idea as to whether it's worth the effort for you to bother selling. Personally I like collecting because they are miniature works of art and it's nice to try and complete a set.
Maybe the one that is not misaligned is the rarer coin lol.

Every time I get a £2 coin that’s not normal I keep hold of them.
After watching this getting hold of a £500 bag you’ve got there is something I’d like to do...is it as simple as going into the bank and asking or would I need to order it?

The Royal Mint are wrong! You can have an error or a variety.
An error is a one-off thing, such as a die rotation, cud, brockage, off-center strike, wrong planchet, etc.
A variety is a coin you can find more than one of, such as a doubled-die.
The dateless 20p, 1983 New Pence 2p, Peter Rabbit with Extra Whisker and the WW1 Extra Flag £2 would all be considered varieties rather than errors.
