Thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge with us. My brother-in-law just gave me a Husqvarna 371 XP, and I discovered that the brake no longer works. Then this video will be of great help in diagnosing the problem with this chainsaw. Your explanations are very clear and precise, and the video is well edited.
I must say that I find your videos to be very helpful. I already knew a lot about small engines, but having found this channel, I have learned so much more. Over Thanksgiving, I rebuilt the carb on an old homelite chainsaw. Rebuilding the carb was something I knew, but when I went to the small engine shop and told the guy I needed a K10-WAT carb kit, boy was he surprised. He looked at me in shock at the fact that I knew what parts I needed. All thanks to your videos! Thank you and keep doing what you do!
Thanks so much for this video. You've saved me £££ on tired brake band replacement. One thing though - I really couldn't get the big spring back on this way. I had to remove the handle and compress the spring with needle nosed pliers to seat it properly. Thanks Dony, keep going lad 👍🏼
Got it back together. Thanks for your help. Had to replace the bar that goes into the handle and had to learn how to put the big spring in. One I figured the technique it was easy.
Its Friday and the clock is edging twards 0:00 hours here in Sweden. And im enjoying myself alot watching this video. :) Good job Don. Tmorro im gonna sink my teeth in an electrical chainsaw a friend gave me. He claims it sometimes just "revs" and the chain stands still. As much as i hate electrical machinery i love a good challenge! Ty for the vid and keep up the good work!
siemenstraffic This is a Black & Decker. Its resonably easy to split apart. But it didnt help me much. Everything looked primo. The saw runs great until its put under workload. Then it starts making "Hacking" noices. First i thought it was something mechanical. But every gear and bearing looks great. Not a mark on them. My suspicions is now aimed at the electric motor. But i dont really know what to do with it in regard to the way the saw behaves. Any ideas?
Good call. Will deffo do that with my trusty testtools. My suspicion will still have me puttin my money on the motor. Pbably somewere around the pickup or suchlike. Since it revs up fine and only starts "stuttering" while under load. But that cords gonna get a proper check-up! Thank you for the tip.
Great video. I have a 365 and the plastic oiler gear keeps striping out. I replaced the oil pump and still only get oil for a minute or two then nothing. And checked the worm gear and its striped again. Any thoughts?
Hi chad here, had a question about my new stihl 180c chainsaw and my new stihl bg86 blower I bought this year. I need to store for winter, should I buy the stihl moto mix stuff and run it out of fuel, or can I just use stabil and run out of fuel, just do want to mess them up, I've been told motors are more sensitive now, thanks chad
Donyboy73 you always talk about your parts washer and cleaning parts. Are you using a solvent based or water based fluid? And where can we get what you use?
In your video it is a white plastic setup that the spring slides onto and the band attaches to. Mine is blue which doesn't matter but is a replacement part since I broke the original. When I go to pry the large spring into place the plastic piece slides towards the handle and readjusts the metal mech and locks the saw to where I can't move the handle at all. Is there suppose to be a slot for the plastic piece to side into and perhaps mine is worn out? Any help would be appreciated Thanks.
Do not put the brake on with your hand. Sooner or later you will find your hand touching the chain. Put the chain brake on with the movement of the wrist. Thank you for an excellent video!
Hi there Liam a merry Xmas to you and all your family I want to mail you and share a video with with regards to my Mondeo if you could send me your mail address i woul be great full thx :)
Hi Don just want to know does a broken break band have anything to do with difficult starting while pull starting. Cannot get a full pull on rope as it keeps stopping every inch or so. Thanks an hap easter

I think he was just doing that for the demonstration because naturally when using a chainsaw, you will bump the lever with your wrist.
excellent videos, thank you...
much appreciated 🫡
Great detail vid Don on this fix. TU
thanks pete
Welcome engine doc
dony, how does the chain oilier work on a chain saw like this one
Yet another great video, thanks! (formerly richardwernst)
In the UK it is a nightmare to get Husqvarna parts even something like a clutch spring can be a 3 week turnaround :(
good vid, that saw looks to have a lot of work done, i would guess it belongs to a logger.
yes it does

dony what is the difference between k10-wat & k20-wat carb kits
hi mike, the k20-wat kit has a few extra parts than the k10 like and extra smaller needle valve
Thanks. Nice video!
thanks
thanks
Sorry I'm late to the party. I know there's safety concerns but will the chainsaw work without the band?
yes but the brake won't work
and this is why I like to work on stihl
thanx pal
same procedure on the 362xp and 372xp?
probably
thanks...

+Carol Cruz I don't think so, if the chain turns then there might be a problem in the clutch, let me know
