    Being the best is a question of discipline, hard work, and sacrifice. Ben Arfa was one of those players who had the talent and potential to be amongst the best but lacked the discipline and vision required in order to achieve that. There's a saying "Hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard". He is the empitome of that.

    • @hungder
      @hungder Год назад +13

      in a world where you rely on team tactics and where you need high work rates in every department a good dribbler might be a thing but you also need people who track back and work for the team. Also it seems that he missed a lot of chances to create scorer points to score or to assist. That makes a huge difference at the end.

    • @repechepe

      Football is a game of 22 players on the pitch, dribbling is a good skill but you need to be able to play in coordination with your teammates not go 1vs11 yolo mode. When you are on a team that is expected to dominate in posession and chances created you might need more disciplined defenders and team players. So, yes, he was probably the best individually skilled player of PSG at the time with the best 1v1 ability, but at the same time, the trainer would prefer a more reliable player that will ensure more ball posession, than a guy who will try 1v4 and lose the ball at times. Also big teams have big egos, so these players can cause trouble inside their team who is also packed with competent players who also want the ball and can do great things with it too.
      Yes, he was great but he also had a flip-side, and champions league games are very competitive where you need to be able to compete in all areas of the game so you need disciplined players that can defend your goal advantage by running and keeping posession also players that can intercept balls to try to equalize the series. Ben Arfa maybe was not that competitive of a player in that aspect to become a starter, who knows.

    • @repechepe
      @repechepe Год назад +1

      For example C.Ronaldo would score goal every 90 minutes so this would make him untouchable even if he wasn't the best passer at times or he lost the ball dribbling or he would run back down to defend. Real Madrid really needed his goals. I guess Ben Arfa wasn't that good of a scorer to become THAT guy. Ronaldo was better finisher, he was incredible heading the ball and he was more ambidextrous. Ben Arfa was regular finisher with no heading ability even if he was a better dribbler this would not translate in the result of the game as much as Ronaldo's abilities.

    People BS him about discipline, i see him like Maradona, the god gifted ones, and do no discipline, but yet they are the most loved and entertaining ones. He was confident and loves flying like a free bird, he hated to be chained with some rusted tactics and game plans because he knew he was capable. The team/coach who decided to punish and destroy him, they suck now, and karma is a bit#$. They are remembered to be hated at least for just doing that

    ok he can dribble. fair enough. what about the finish. the assist. the consistency. the team mentality. broo even his team mates hated playing with him, dribble dribble dribble, no end product. would be different if he could score or assist at the end, but no bueno. So yeah, takes a lot more than dribbling skills to be one of the greats. Benzema obviously giving biased views for his buddy lol.

      Messi is as good as the billion dollar team around him, you know the likes of ronaldinho, Neymar, Suarez, pique,… he was not good when he didn’t have the best stars in the world around him, the same with CR7, if you gave Ben Arfa, or any other talented player a billion dollars team around, they would’ve achieved greatness.

    Son seul problème c'est qu'il a toujours eu besoin d'être aimé par ses coéquipiers et son entraineur. Quand il avait l'impression que ça n'etait pas le cas, il finissait par s'opposer à eux. Un talent hors norme qui faisait de lui l'un des meilleur joueur au monde mais parce qu'il etait ingerable, a finit par gâcher sa carrière.
