Yuri in this video is a walking talking advertisement for Krown
Also yuri’s fiat sounds like a tea kettle
I had a 6-pack of their Spray Lubricant in my cart at Amazon, and clicked on the link to the Krown Store to see what else they had there... And the store it linked was selling Krown Skateboards? I wonder if that's a problem, or if they are also a skateboard seller too? (Which would be dope)
Jakub: “I don’t fit in the passenger side”
Yuri: “I don’t remember asking” 😂
Minute?
@@j10ghost62 He's paraphrasing. Yuri doesn't use those exact words. 6:55 is the exchange though.
@@Debergaizen a lot of the time it feels like yuri’s pretty full of himself and jakob’s kind enough to go along, but I’d actually like to hear Jakob more than I’d like to hear Yuri
I appreciate the special effects of the horsepower and torque figures being behind the car and trees at the start. It’s a cool effect. Well done to the person responsible.
Yuri did it
what do they use to make that happen?
Green screen
@@TheStraightPipes You guys should do a "behind the scenes" video where you show how you film the cars etc. Would be very interesting to watch.
Yuri is getting ridiculously good at this stuff.
Modified box test ! See how many fiat 500 abarths you can fit inside a box !
🤣👏
Like 5.
500 Abarth is the classmate who doesn't seem like they have a good voice for songs but they do ... XD
Odd but ok
That whistling sound would drive me bonkers!
It’s music to my ears
@@Baldingbry A year living with it and you'll end up like Beethoven - deaf
I've had the same intake on mine for over a year now and I just got used to it. It's really not too bad but it's not for everyone.
Boost leak ,
@@ariza034 Yep. 100%
Jakub clearly hates Yuri's car -- LOL!
It still amazes me how good the exhaust sounds on this little engine. Makes me want the car more than any other part of it.
And those turbo flutters😮💨
Just got my '17 500 Abarth a couple weeks ago. The updated Abarth has the TFT tach/speedo screen, which has the looks and functionality. Plus has the touch screen head unit.
Absolutely love this little thing. Can park in tight spaces, has enough pep to have fun, sounds amazing, and is just the right amount of weird. It's the perfect stablemate to my 987 Boxster S.
Definitely some pluses with the 2015+ models. I liked how much easier it was to see RPM, the entertainment console much better. But I ended up choosing a 2013 recently with low miles. Pluses and minuses to each. I actually really like the LOOK of the Speedo screen on my 2013 better. Looks more retro racy etc. But it’s a bitch to see stuff vs the model you have. Looks great but functionality yours is better. But I was having a hard time finding your models in a manual where I am at. They were all automatics. I didn’t want a automatic. No way. So I got the 2013 because they didn’t even make automatics in the 2013. I don’t think they did until 2015 versions. They first made the car for driver enthusiast that want a manual. But sales slumped and the automatic versions they figured would sell better in the U.S also I know this sounds sexist… but it’s true… less women know how to drive manual and they wants to appeal to more of the market. But congratulations on your 17 Abarth! They sure are fun to drive.
Im trying to buy one on Carmax, I miss my Abarth! They are just the right amount of weird! Fun!
Love my EC stage 2 Abarth and is so refreshing seeing an honest review like this one Ive had problems with my gas cap and the arm rest broke RELIABLE AF!!
sheesh! i immediately noticed Jakub rocking the full-metal gmwb5000 on this wrist. A MAN OF CULTURE.
This is the most relatable and true Abarth review. Almost every issue you have is the same as mine🤣
Yuri helping boost my abarth’s resale value lol
I adore my 2013 Abarth. Thanks for reminding me of all the reasons I love it, quirks and all!
Guys I had a monza'd abarth here in the U.K., and if you lift the boot carpet / floor and kinda tuck the tag down rather than up it'll expose a small pressure flap. Do that, and drive it without the parcel shelf on and your windows up and the back pressure will open the vent. It's almost like they knew what they were doing but it makes it feel like the exhaust is in the cabin.
That turbocharger spooling noises was MORE THAN ENOUGH!! I LOVE IT!!!❤️
It's naturally aspirated I believe, just has twin intake. Cause it's same engine as the dart and dart is not turbo
@@shelbyrodriguez560 yes it’s a turbocharged engine.
@@shelbyrodriguez560 you’re very wrong. Shhhh.
Gotta love all the comments about Fiat lack of reliability... I’m on a Fiat forum, and God knows how vocal people are on forums about unreliable cars. Well, the Abarth is an amazingly reliable car. You can beat on it and nothing ever breaks.
I have been driving Fiats since they came back to the US market and no issues. I have a 2014 500L Trekking runs great and a 2013 Abarth runs great. Only thing I’m worried about with my Abarth is it’s a cabrio. If it is getting old. And if that roof breaks… holy crap crazy expensive. And then if you do have the 5-6k to spend to replace it finding someone that knows how is tough.
i´m not even going to watch or listen to the review,i´m just here to say that the abarth is AMAZING. have a nice day
I see a lot of these being used as smaller on-the-side-cars in my neighborhood. Love the exaust note.
Oh damn. Seeing what Krown does and how it works is actually nice.
The only way this could be cooler is of it was A: Pink and B: Convertible
Your in luck! There is a convertible version of this car, and you probably could get it wrapped in pink.
Subjective but no. That should be offered on the Pop model and not the Abarth.
You finally drove the best car ever. And imagine if you had an actual upgraded one.
5:36 is my notification sound when a new StraightPipes video goes live.
*The fact that the car sounds like that bone stock is hilarious in all the right ways.*
Pardon if i missed your joke, but the cold air intake yuri has on it does really change the engine sound
@@diekatzefliegt I own a abarth and a intake doesnt change the sound, its only the turbo whistle and blow off sound that are louder
@@samygagne302 yeah I miswrote, I should have clarified that
Hey guys I've got one of these and the loose shifter linkage is super common, it's actually just the bushings on the linkage. Theres an upgraded bushing kit for like $20 that REALLY improves the feel. That combined with a good short throw shifter really helps. It's an unbelievably easy fix only takes about an hour or less. Overall great video and super accurate review! I've owned mine for 5 or 6 years now and absolutely love it. Lots of mods available, mine puts down 215hp to the wheels with 230lb and it feels the power level it should be. Some better rubber goes a long way for all the understeer, and get rid of the rear seats! They're heavy and pointless anyway.
Update later in the video - My trunk sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, AND my arm rest broke within a year of owning LOL. A lot of the other issues, especially around the gauge cluster were improved in the 2015 and later models. Cloth seats are the way to go, much more grippy.
I miss my abarth 2014. Traded it for a BRZ which is a better package overall but somehow does not give me the same joy. The exhaust and intake noise... the funky high seating position and easy to shift gear stick on the dash and easy heel toe pedals . So much fun .
Take off the rear seats (just a few bolts) and save a bunch of weight with the added benefit of more exhaust note in the cabin. There is a sound deadener on the hatch with a flap which closes when your turn on AC recirculate. Slightly move the deadening material and listen to that exhaust
Consider removing that intake for the stock one or similar routing as the stock one. Might be taking away from the low end torque
500 would be faster then the brz no?
here I am, owning a 300hp car but still watching these reviews for the perfect duo
The funny thing is the company Eurocompulsion that makes a lot of Abarth mods makes similar mods including an intake for the 2.0 multiair in the Giulia Ti. You can have a 4 cyl Giulia sounding like that and over 400hp with a tune.
400hp in a Giulia Ti would be awesome with the awd.
Now I gotta go find a video of that on the tube!
Fix the linkages and install a CravenSpeed short shifter for much improved shifting. Also install a NeuSpeed Neu-F torsion bar to correct the understeer.
I used to own a Dodge Dart with the 1.4t, so easy to work on and sounded great. Unfortunately, it was a lot heavier than the 500, but still fun to drive and I learned a lot.
I'm like a minute in, how is the intake so whistley its actually bad now
Holey cowl intake, it's like 3x as loud as any other because it puts the filter right by the cabin air vent intake
@@AlvinBrinson Imagine if it began sucking out the interior air, haha
I have a 2013 Dart 1.4L (BC). I love my car, bought it last year, had to replace the DCT. Having grown up driving decent hatchbacks back in India, the Dart holds up real nice.
18" rims are probably not the best, but driving it is incredible amounts of fun every time.
I got my 2013 Abarth for $5500 with 71k miles.
Did the front and rear shocks myself and had to replace a few small things. Final cost $6,500~.
Hope it becomes a collector one day. 😂
Me too 😅 hopefully the value sky rockets.
All shocks cost 1000?. Damn
@@edwingonzalez5610 Here in canada they did sky rocket alreayd because they are not sold here since 2016. A clean abarth with under40k miles sells for over 15k CAN...
Woah nice effect with the figures being behind the mountain, I guess it's something so small that barely anyone notices but it's a sht load of editing work. I appreciate it
Yuri sounds like he’s ready to race! Also, his water is boiling and he’s ready to make a nice cup of tea.
It looks like u guys stepped up ur editing game. Congrats on that!
completely agree on the arm rest. Glad i have one that isn't broken, but i've never used it
The intake sounds like Darth Vader wearing a stormtrooper suit!
Loving this particular series!
I got my car treated at Krown because of you guys!
Awesome!
I have a 2012 fiat 500 abarth and love it. Only had it 3 months and was just in the shop for a week for new clutch and motor work. But love this car.
INTAKE
I have a 2013 Abarth that I bought for $7200 2 years ago. It came with a tune, CAI plus Bilstein coil-overs. It now has 104K miles on it, and the only problems are it eats the #3 ignition coil every 5-10,000 miles and I'm about to replace the rear wheel bearings. My intake is noticeable mostly with the windows down, but I can live with it. Not nearly as bad as my former Cobb tuned 300HP 2016 Focus ST. It had the Recaro seats that were way too confining, and I like corners more than anything! I have a 435iX and bought this because I calculated the mileage depreciation to be about the same cost as the Abarth. Side benefits are the 31 mpg (no matter how you drive), park-it-anywhere/squirt through traffic size, and it begs you to drive it fast. Upgrades that fix the complaints of the Abarth in the video are an Android navigation head unit with Car Play, and the European digital speedometer bought on eBay like the one's on the newer 500's. I love this thing, and even after 2 years it's hard to fault it!
How’s the clutch holding up? Is it original? I have a 2013 with 54k miles clutch seems pretty good. I was worried a bit when I got it because it seemed to bite a tad high. But then I drove more Abarth’s and they all seemed a tad high. And a Fiat mechanic I know said they tend to have a bit higher bite point than other cars. They sure are tons of fun to drive. I have the Cabrio and dropping the top on a nice day mountain roads hearing the beautiful note it makes… fun. Wife bought it for me for Father’s Day as a fun weekend car.
Hi Frankie about to purchase a used 2013 and it has around 110000 miles. How’s everything going?
It’s pretty remarkable how that car is still likable despite so many flaws :)
Character.
These things are so much fun to see, and it’s nice to see them on such an awesome channel. Any other plans for this garlic bread sized pocket rocket?
That BoV and Spool reminds me of the Goodwood Mini you guys reviewed back then
I have 2015 US model. Always giving me great joy when driving. No plan to sell it. I moved to South Korea then back to the U.S and moved to South Korea again. I didn’t hesitate to bring this car along with me. Makes no sense but I had to do it. And plan to do it over and over if I have to move again. Koni shocks + Vogtland springs give great handling and stabilization.
The engine is also in the Alfa Romeo Mito! Don’t regret getting an exhaust on mine. Sounds so awesome. Best 1L engine about in my option 😎
Guys if you see this comment I really hope you get hold of a mito. It’s such a frankinstein machine or even more so than the 500 Abarth. But so curious to see what you guys make of hit. 😁
the shifter linkage is a pretty easy fix, but you will have to take it apart to clean the rust on it
You two could review a haystack and I would still enjoy your humor and the way you interact together.
Having had a 2015, I'd say most of your complaints about steering feel and the shifter is just cause you got a worn out car. I drove with my friend in his M2 on the autobahn and from 130-200 kmh I kept up with him. I took my car to Hakenheim and Nurburg ring and completely stock the car did well enough. Also, high speed straights the car is planted. I was going 130MPH down the autobahn and felt safe the whole time.
Oh and funny note about leg spacing, was comparing stats to my friends Mustang and they had the same interior room
I have a 2013 and my steering is great and my shifter as well. I am not a big fan of the clutch bite point on most Abarth’s. I though mine might be a bit worn but drove more Abarth’s and figured out it’s how they are. Just naturally a tad higher. But mine has low miles 54k that’s pretty low for a 2013. I don’t know maybe his has a lot more miles and it worn out. Especially in sport my steering especially is awesome.
I have a stage 2 from eurocompulsion on my alfa stelvio and it's awesome. They are great at tuning vehicles
Great review, love your videos!
Hahahahaha My wife had one of these….unmodified. It sounded SO GOOD. She had very low miles, so it always felt tight. NOTHING ever went wrong with this thing. And, our 250 pound son fit in the back easily. However, dont waste your time with BOX TEST….it holds a few bags of groceries. Enjoy modifying the car Yuri.
Kyle 🤣🤣🤣
Eurocompulsion is great! I've been using their products on my used Alfa.
i just got my first car and it’s a 2015 fiat abarth so i’ve been obsessing over videos about it lol
I just bought a 2012 grey one with white oz wheels and no decals. 1 owner only 58k miles. So much fun.
Hey thanks for including them KW's near the HP's !
Hey! I just sold my 2013 500c Abarth in white with white wheels for a Red 124 Abarth spider and just installed a Record Monza Exhaust. Its a dream. Totally look and sounds like a baby Ferrari 😉
I love zipping in my 595 Competizione on the streets of London. It's just the ideal car for a city like mine.
I considered getting that cowl exhaust. I am eternally grateful I got a normal intake 😅
I've always wanted to drive an Abarth 500. Thinking of getting one to get around London.
That cut to the shot of you pulling the e-brake made it look like you were actually pulling it while your friend was driving and I winced a little.
It's bad when smoke comes from the clutch rather than the tires.
Been mulling getting a used one a few months now. You all have convinced me
once things open up boys, consider driving out to Centralia and enjoy some autocross hosted by WOSCA. Make it a road trip since we're about 2-3 hours from you guys. Thanks for the reviews!
That thing sounds like a cartoon snoring sound effect 😂
🤣
I have the same spec Abarth and I highly recommend the ArmorAll Outlast Brake Dust Repellent to keep those wheels white!
Also you can get the screen Guage cluster that will work with it , there's a video
Good morning Straight Pipes 🤘
I've driven one of these. They are so pathetically cheap in quality. But, the ridiculous fun of it had me ready to buy. I was able to get enough money for a GTI instead, but I would've gotten one of these if I didn't get the GTI.
This video managed to put a smile on my face in the first second
Mines 185bhp and 270ftlb now after a map and rolling road. Get it done it’s awesome
sadly I LOL'ed at 'you are the crumple zone'
X^D
you guys rock!
go with intake from 500 madness you get less whistle and still get the good turbo noises. Had one of these cars years ago fun for ripping around the city haha.
Make sure you don't let this car sit for too long otherwise the oil will drain out of the multi-air assembly and the engine will crank as if it has no compression. If this does happen, you just need to crank it until the engine sounds like it has compression again, allowing the starter to cool for a bit between attempts. Drive it every couple weeks at least and you should be alright.
Cat delete with that record monza sounds amazing
I think we all can agree that Yuri's Abarth sounds better than most new cars (especially the Supra) 😂😂
My buddy has a modded Abarth, thing is sick. Super cool fun little cars, reliability aside.
At first, the way our friend Yuri was holding his mouth I thought the whistling was coming from him - not the turbo. “Theatre” and “lots of sounds”. 🤣
That air intake completely kills the car, glad Yuri will replace it. Great series!
Props to Krown. I've had excellent results with it.
Flutter the throttle off cold start for amazing backfiring and exhaust burbles.
Oooooh I'm excited about the mod video!
I thought about getting an air intake for my 2021 Civic Hatchback with the 1.5T. I think It sounds similar to this one. Lol.
I would kill to have these videos come out way sooner please guys!
Going to edit track video soon
I've been fixing a lot of AC systems lately with the weather warming up and I can assure you everyone thinks they just need it recharged.
Had to loose the previous charge somehow right?
Shhhhhh
This is peak StraightPipes
This is my kind of series!!
1/ finally a comparison series where EU guys (like me) can actually see the tested cars in real on road .)
2/ this vid had a great twist and fun note seeing Jakub being over the intake and showing the negative...
3/ it would be cool if the next cars you buy for a series like this, were something like dad-wagon sportscars on a budget (e63s and co), considering everybody wants those since your fam review and nobody can afford ;)
Great video! That intake though...
As an Abarth owner, I cannot recommend enough that you upgrade the rear torsion beam to the thicker Neu-f unit through Eurocompulsion. Will completely get rid of the understeer in combination with the new springs and dampers.
Actually looking at one tomorrow? Have you had any issues with yours? Or what should I look for
@@codeyee6039 In a word, yes. Lol. But they have all been fairly minor. My experience, and the experiences I’ve heard from other owners, has been that a lot of little things can (and probably will) go wrong, but it’s pretty rare for them to leave you stranded. The engine and trans are fairly bullet proof. Just make sure it’s had its maintenance. And if you can have a mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection just to check everything out, all the better. Good luck! You’ll have a blast!
@@codeyee6039 if you have any technical questions the guys in the r/abarth subreddit are very helpful
@@urock12201 thanks Chief! Appreciate it!
My brother had one here in Nova Scotia but a shop refused to inspect it unless they welded mufflers… since the dealership it was bought from second hand was the ones getting the inspection they didn’t look at other shops and made my brother pay for mufflers he didn’t want on a car that came with none. Fun little car though!
Love both of the cars!
Change the bushings for the shift cable and lube the linkage- should solve the shifter problem
Very common issue. I replaced mine on my 500. The bushing is exposed to the elements and deteriorates. Especially here in Ontario with all the road salt.
Please review Jaguar XF R. I want to get one for my dad and I want to make sure I make the right call.
Thankfully I don't have as noisy of an intake on my Abarth cabrio😂 Jakub really doesn't have to worry about headroom with the top down lol. The best free mod for abarths is a full wastegate realignment. I got lots of additional torque, better throttle response, and better mpg after reducing the turbo's preload from the wastegate- Highly suggest it.
How is that mod utilized, and how do you perform this mod? I have a 2018 fiat 500c abarth. I bought it a month ago
Front wheel burn outs, so good
Do a Tork tune, 6700 rev limiter, catless DP, rear seat delete and a beefy rear torsion bar.
This looks like so much fun to throw around
They are I have 3, 1 stock, 1 EuroDM, 1 auto x... all automatic 😋
