Science doesnt care about skepticism if you give no promising evidence. Religion has been here for thousands of years, none of the religion has been able to prove any of its claims, hence its safe to say religion is unrational, unscientific and very dangerous.

He does not hate religion. He criticises people making links between religion and science. When there is no evidence to back up the claims made by the "gurus", you have to be harsh. Imagine if someone misinterprets your work and twists it to make a completely new sentence, would you just sit and do nothing? Only you know how to hate, Pranav was criticising irrationality. Please don't drag science into religion.

Why the hell these people are trying to depict Sadhguru as anti science, Sadhguru always tells not to believe anything without experience and that includes his own words. I am doing Sadhguru's yoga practices as it benifits me physiologically and psychologically, but I dont believe a single word Sadhguru says. There is no conflict with Science in Hinduism as there is no need of belief, only methods and techniques are relevant, philosophy and ideology has very little to do with true Hindu spiritual journey.

Prakhar, you asked him a few leading questions that I think attenuated the convo.
    # Leading questions
10:21 13:51 North India (and later Indians as a whole) are more susceptible
(You basically forced him to agree with you and justify the statement)
28:34 30:14 Morality coming from THE book.
(There is no THE book from which Indian society draws it's morality, no 10 commandments equivalent)
14:51 He basically gave an intuitive answer. Is there any evidence of science not giving meaning to their life. Why are science and religion even competing ? Has science ever attempted to give meaning to people, or is it his presupposition.
Therein, I think, lies a deeper, more genuine motivation for his content. I've seen similar motivations in other Abrahamic society atheists (3:41 evidently he used to consume a lot of 'that' content). The details may change, but the meta-narrative remains the same. The cult of God is to be replaced by the cult of Science. And the original sin is to be 'non-rational' and we must civilize the heretic so on.
33:10 There are a few Ayurveda journals (all fairly young). I don't understand why he thinks it is hard to isolate the active ingredient. It's a mix of multiple herbs, so, pretty much everything is a mix of multiple things. What else is scientific method for, if not eliminate possibilities.
Few of the statements also sound a bit sus
7:50 'Whichever religion is in power'
10:14 When you glorify religion in a religious festival, it becomes problematic
All in all, waiting to hear a more structured, longer interview-type thing.

That's why it is not a religion it is the Dharma, Sanatana Dharma, it changes with time, it respects science, if you say this is a wrong practice, they will not discard the dharma itself, they will correct themselves and move on with the culture. I believe this guys problem is not only with superstitions but also with the cultural sanatana pride of Indians (he is like dhruv rathee). The thing is you can't kill the dharma, even if I am an atheist, I am still Sanatana.

tbh, no disrespect to the guest, he is still doing a better job than so called influencers. But Prakhar, mazza nhi aya, unfortunately the depth was missing from the guest and i get that like when he said ki we have innate code of conduct for morality in ourselves, i mean NO!! we are just the byproduct of our social conditioning by our parents, friends, media, etc. The best moral decision would come after a serious enquiry and that conscious free will decision will come and become your morality, obviously people will argue that the decision after deep enquiries are based on the limited experience you have and therefore u are a slave to your social conditioning but you can expand it now by negating what's shallow and non sensible and allowing your mind to gain knowledge by question everything till your capacity allows, this btw would be a better way to think and reach the best possible decision, i think in Nietzsche's ubermensch the same thing can be observed.
Secondly I like the fact when he says intuition based thinking vs evidence based thinking, but he was not going deep enough with it, i think when you become curios enough you will know how to test your intuition based on experimenting in real life and have multiple non biased encounters to your intuition,I would not drag advaita vedanta in between but i think these scriptures are made by a lot of thinking behind it, so any interested peeps can look into it if curious about life as a whole, or i should say anything before discarding the facts you can get through religion.

Wat i wanted to convey was evolutionary stimulus is not enough in complex situations, like suppose a child who is never exposed to the world suddenly encounters a kill or be killed situation he may choose solely based on survival, but i think life if way more than only survival, becoz then kindness, empathy, love for freedom won't exist much. Freedom fighters won't exist, or many other incidents where the most obvious action was to kill others but still chose not to wouldn't have existed.

Indians view science and technology as a tool that can better our lives *if used correctly*. They do not seek fulfillment from it, they do not consider “scientific living” as the ultimate goal of humanity.
Even though I have a Robotics PhD, I agree with this viewpoint 100%.
In Indian culture, deep fulfillment comes from recognizing your true identity and escaping the cycle of actions and their consequences. This manifests itself in vastly diverse forms - purely logical ज्ञानयोग, surrendering to the supreme being in a relatable manifestation भक्तियोग, deep meditation i.e. what we know today as just योग, vigorous action कर्मयोग, or a combination of these.
To the extent that these things were not mentioned even once, and strawman issues like nofap, Sadhguru’s statement on lunar eclipses, or worshipping an idol made of cow dung were used to reject “religion” all together, I think both Prakhar and Pranav’s understanding of these subjects is ridiculously lacking.
The incident of Govardhan pooja or worshipping the idol made of cow dung that Prakhar described with disgust inspired me to write this comment. Imagine, we are people who can see the supreme being in such a daily routine substance. It shows the beautiful and deeply practical manifestation of भक्तियोग we have developed over millennia! Cow dung is not some pot of poison. Indians have been using it in daily activities for millennia. Have we all died? Where are the bacteria Prakhar is so scared of? People have cooked their food and plastered their houses all over the country over centuries with cow dung. And Prakhar shits on that just because some Western so-called “rational thinkers” use it to demean Hindus? Shameful.
Prakhar asked “why are Indians so uniquely susceptible to superstition”. Pranav gave a good factual reply mentioning mega Churches in the supposedly rational leader societies. But my answer is: Because we know that ultimate fulfillment does not lie in materialism. Today when there is a lack of qualified teachers who are able to explain the Indic philosophies of our true identity to the masses, some people do fall for the fakers, but they are the exception, not the norm.

    I have so many questions!
Normally what i understand from science is test and accept anything if it is true. But all the wrong theories(most of them in chemistry) were and are given by scientists itself. And another scientist comes and rectifies that this not true, my theory explains this concept better. And the world. But the same world accepted the previous scientist and gave appreciation(like Noble prize).
So should we accept these theories as evidence according you guys OR should everyone in the world start experimenting each and everything and then act according to their results?
Another doubt is that in the religious books(like Bhagwad Geeta, Bible, Quran) , they say that GOD is the reason behind all the creation and destruction of the universes, and scientists reject these theories, but till now i didn't get any answer that then how are the universes are created. I know most of the science knowledge guys tell some big bang theory or black hole theory or matter theory. My question is who created those matter/black hole etc.??
I have tons of doubts like these. If anyone is interested we can discuss these topics and I'll be ready to hear your point of view.
Kindly reply to my questions with EVIDENCE!!

      >my question is who created those matter/black hole
And my question is who created the god? You'll probably say god doesn't need to be created or he created himself or he always existed, now why don't you apply this logic to matter? If god doesn't need a creator then why does matter need it?

    • @trickyepithet9122
      @trickyepithet9122 2 года назад +8

Since your comment is respectful, lets have a good discussion :)
      1. Yes you are right, science is about creating new theories and rectifying those. For an example take the newton's theory of gravity. The math works, but it is false and we have a new theory, given by einstein. But still newtonian mechanics works in most of the situations, and it's simpler than einstein's theory. It also has a ton of applications in the field of science.
Another example is the bohr model of atom. It doesn't work for any other atom other than hydrogen, and we never said its correct for all elements. Now we have the quantum model of atom, which does prove to be correct mathematically.
You know evidence based approach is the best for it. This talk doesnt really involve any concept that has only a mathematical proof or a really complex scientific concept.
      2. Simply giving a placeholder(GOD) for something we dont know is not a correct approach to answer a question. You know since the time humans started thinking philosophically and scientifically, the need for a placeholder i.e. GOD started decreasing and decreasing, now its only the creation of universe. And you really wanna believe in a GOD placeholder for that question?
Now when we say god created the universe, then we immediately are driven to think how the god is created. If the answer is he always existed, then from a causality standpoint, it makes no sense at all. Then how or why did he create the universe at some nth second, and how could that happen if he existed forever?
      3. Your question of who created the things that we see around, is a fun topic to talk about. You see ever since the universe began, things obeyed in a particular way, we can call them a set of universally obeyed laws. These laws together mixed up with events chaining created a series of other events, and it goes on. Thats how stars are created, that's how sun is created, thats how earth is created. And thats how we are and our brains are created, thats how everything we see around is created.
If you disagree with me feel free to reply, looking forward for more questions from you

    • @shashankgangavatiker7201
      @shashankgangavatiker7201 2 года назад +4

      1. The misconception that you have started out with is that theories are 'True' or 'False'- scientific theories are neither. They are simply the best possible descriptions about the observable universe supported by mountains of empirical evidence. Old theories are never 'proved false', it is just that new theories accommodate them as a part of a bigger picture to better explain new observations and to reconcile them with the pre-existing evidence. Unlike a previous answer suggests, Einstein didn't "prove Newton wrong"- Newton's law of gravitation is consistently accurate when dealing with non-relativistic frames of reference. Einstein simply expanded on Newton's work to include an additional set of observations which led outside of Newton's domain.
      2. The idea behind God creating the universe is not a "theory", it is pure superstition. A necessary criteria for any scientific theory is that it must be supported by evidence, and there is zero evidence to support the existence of God.
      3. Nobody knows how the universe came into existence, because nobody knows what happened before the big bang. This question itself may be non sensical because of time itself began at the moment of the big bang, you cannot ask what CAUSED the big bang because causality cannot exist without time...

    • @abhirajsinha3186
      @abhirajsinha3186 2 года назад

Well to a certain extent, you're certainly correct about science. It's the nature of human inquiry and curiosity. I haven't done much research in terms of astrophysics, but as far as i know, the most feasible theory to explain the beginning of the universe of the big bang. However, instead of just accepting the big bang entirely, science still works on trying to think of more and different theories. However, most religions already justify it through scriptures, claiming it as evidence. Science never 'claimed', it 'proposed' it's ideas. Again, I'm not saying that I feel the big bang is a 100% accurate, confirmed theory, and I'm not sure what evidence is there for it.
However the ones who need to provide evidence are the ones who claim that the universe was created by a supreme, omniscient being who simply (and conveniently) exists beyond time and space. The evidence needs to be provided by those claiming these extraordinary ideas.
All i believe science does is reject this claim on the basis of the fact that there's no definitive proof of the existence of such a being, and nor does it provide any scope of improvement or criticism.
Anyways, hopefully we can reach a proper conclusion has to how the universe began. Hope you could get some insight. :)

I think moralizing is a self-inflicted punishment. Example, someone trying to conform to strict beauty standards would think twice before eating a cake, and upon eating it, they would feel guilty for having committed the 'sin' of gluttony. We have internalized some moral norms that we use to inflict pain upon ourselves emotionally.
Also, moralism leads to an affirmation of the status quo. As are the present state of things, moralists would always question the use of any kind of violence done by the individual against property or another individual, while ignorantly refusing to acknowledge the systemic violence that kills and harms people on a daily basic.

Science in general came this far with relatively higher accuracy in its explanations because it accepted it could be wrong at times, which boosted its potential to discover and experiment on a higher degree. Science makes arguments with reliable hypothesis and backings that have years of research in them.
This guy is exactly opposite of what he says and advertises. All of his arguments contain "this isn't logical, this is psedoscience, this is bullshit" - He never puts an effort in his 10 min+ videos to explain any of his arguments with scientific backings (peer reviewed research papers, not some random article a google search away). Prakhar got exposed, like just did what Pranav said. Just quoting rationality absolutely wrong, passion has nothing to do with it. We have facts and data and we just look in it. Come on Prakhar our guy isn't gonna fall for word play.

The thing is India is one the most religious nations on earth. Cow is sacred yet it's the place with worst health conditions for cows and largest beef exporter in the world. And the poor is still neglected, and prosperity is still slow.
Meanwhile, the west is developed, introducing to the world, Hyperloop, electric cars, internet, medicine vaccine, smartphones etc. India still stays prideful on inventing 0 thousands of years ago.
Dear India, religion isn't bad but please balance it with some reason - don't be too obsessed.
