I love Myung's bass lines on this song.
As much as I love James LaBrie, this performance was somehow worser than when he was recovering from the food poisoning incident
I did not like the interpretation either. Is not even that he was singing badly, he was on point, but the interpretation was bad. I did not enjoy it at all, I felt like it was all over the place.
Should never have gotten rid of Dominici...
his voice sounds like a duck in this live, but you cannot compare with food poisoning period, that's totally in different age

The problem with Labrie here is not really his range (in fact, he definitely is strong enough on this show to hit the correct pitch). The problem is his ad libs are way off. Instead of making it easy for him, he's actually adding more strain to himself. And now, it's a bad habit that is becoming more prevalent in their recent shows.
By ad libs are you referring to the vowel/consonant shapes? Or are you more referring to the vibrato/improvised stuff?

@@mr.sidecomments9278 Gotcha. I definitely see what you're saying, it does seem like he's straining himself in places that it just isn't needed. I saw them in March and it was a fantastic show, but I could tell Labrie was still having a similar problem, even on the stuff from AVFTTOTW.

I actually disagree. As a huge fan of Dream Theater that has seen and met the band on numerous occasions, I actually prefer ‘Afterlife’ by A7X, whom I like quite casually.

Tutti gran maestri, bravissimi, impeccabili, ma La Brie... è inascoltabile, non riesco a capire perché in tutti questi anni sia rimasto lui come cantante, capisco che probabilmente ci sarà dell'amicizia che lega i componenti del gruppo ma bisogna anche pensare alla musica e all'arte. Peccato perché le esibizioni perdono parecchio di qualità.
