Catching them live in Oregon in November for the second time this year and the fifth time overall. Thanks for backing them up for all these years been a fan since the 8th grade (I am 25 now) and these two fucks are still living the dream.
TPike777 the skinny guy is great because even if he dislikes the band he does his best. Also I like this channel because they let us review the album as well
A lot of people pigeonholed them as such, as they came up around that time, but they were always a pretty straight-ahead melo death band. Hope you like what you find when you check 'em out!
Chris House They certainly wear their Carcass influence on their sleeves. Trevor Strnad, the vocalist, is a huge underground metal nerd and does a lot to get small bands exposure. He writes a monthly column for Metal Injection that includes tons of great Death, Black and Slam.
Aggressive Tendencies Yeah, although they did come out of the hardcore/metalcore scene, i never heard much 'core' in their sound. Some of those t-shirt designs, however? Yuck.
Agreed! We always try to get the lyrics for the reviewers with the music but they are not always included in the liner notes, or those notes are not available to us in advance. Thanks for watching!
I definitely love this album. A good mix of the experimentation they have done over the past albums but a good mix of the always loved Nocturnal album. Hails!
I still prefer Ryan Knight as lead guitar for tbdm, Brandon is very good, and probably faster, but Ryan had a musicality I don't often find on many metal guitar players.
All he does is bend, quick run, bend quick, bend quick run. Ryan was wayyy more versatile in his playing. He is still a great replacement stylistically tho. Very similar to Ryans
Aggressive Tendencies There's just something about Deflorate I love so much. I Will Return is still in my top 5 favourite TBDM tracks. Looking forward to that possible Converge review! Cheers from B.C my dude, you earned yourself another sub with this.
I got into these guys with 'Ritual' only because I really liked the album cover. Been a fan ever since. I remember on Christmas day last year I got 'Abysmal' for a present and was like "I KNOW WHAT I'M LISTENING TO'. Even my family know who they are now! Awesome!
'Ritual' is HUGE. What an album. That is awesome. My parents are aware of some of the bands I like by now too, and it's pretty rad. My mum know's what 'Jane Doe' by Converge is haha. She recognizes the face.
The verse riff on Widowmaker is Black Dahlia Murder summed up in all its awesome glory. Great album. New guitarist slays. His solo on Nightbringers is fantastic.
Absolutely love this album. Got my Nightbringers merch ASAP, got a T with the album cover on the front and the track listing on the back. The album cover is nasty. Brandon fits in with the band perfectly, he did an amazing job on this record. Nightbringers is like a Nocturnal part 2. Best release from these guy's in year's.
I don't know this band but a lot of what I heard reminded me of Arsis. I love Arsis. Going to check these guys out starting with this album. Great review, mate!
4 out of 5?! That's a damn fine rating officially, but I'd bump it up to 5! Blast Fiend here, and this is the best release of 2017! Thank you for doing such a stellar review!
@@AggressiveTendencies Black dahlia is great overall. But, miasma is still my favorite record of theirs, and one of the best death metal release in the 2000s. I'm more of a black metal guy, but I really like TBDM, I own miasma, deflorate and ritual on vinyl. And nocturnal, miasma and nightbringers on cd.
Saw these guys when they supported Cannibal Corpse last month, it was a fuckin killer set and i chatted to the singer for a few mins after, i was talking to him about wearing glasses in the pit and how fuckin dangerous it is if you want to go home with said glasses, nice dude.
Good review, Brad. P.s: BangerTV, are you going to review "Strength in Numbers" by THE HAUNTED or the debut album by THE LURKING FEAR? Thanks, in advance.
Thanks so much! Both those albums are pretty cool. I actually tackled The Lurking Fear for Exclaim!, if you're curious: exclaim.ca/music/article/the_lurking_fear-out_of_the_voiceless_grave
I agree! anything that sounds like blackened gorguts really. Though I do enjoy Satanic Warmaster's Fimbulwinter a lot despite the controversy surrounding them. But Check out malthusian's "below the hengiform" or anything by Howl's of Ebb!
Brandon Ellis is the missing piece for this band. I've been headbanging all week to the Title track Nightbringers, and in my opinion his lead work here is the kind of melodic kick in the ass TBDM needed. Great Album.... from the Dapper Demon himself, Bradley Zorgdragger.. ZorgMonger, ZorgZorger....i can't remember his fucking name.... Good shit!
Metal Blade week continues... but what happened to the lock horns episode? Missed the live chat & broadcast cos I went to watch England at Wembley, so was looking forward to catching the video today.
When they played Nightbringers in Dallas, everyone (including myself) went fucking mad. It was one of the smallest populated concerts I've been to, yet one of the most involved. I would love to see them again
ive been in a position with my lady that she gave me the option of her goo dolls/matchbox 20 cds or her nysnc backstreet boys cd on a road trip when it was her turn to pick music. i damn near learned every song by heart lol in order to keep nsync and them from getting played in my car.
I saw Goo Goo Dolls live at a county fair when I was in High School. They were constantly on FM radio at that point. Surprise? The short chubby guy who plays bass sang half the songs at the show, and it was pleasantly rockin. I love those times in life where you see a band completely on a whim, just happen to end up there. I ended up at Molly Hatchet at a biker rally on a blind date...that was great as well.
I remember when I first saw them on sounds of the underground back in 2006, I was blown the fuk away! They closed that set with track Miasma and I remember thinking that this was the next great band. They didn't let me down the next three albums after that we're all great through The Ritual. Their last two albums have been a kind of Downer for me only containing maybe two good tracks but this one sounds bad ass.
I love how you're Arsis Fan...so you love that these cats keep grabbing their guitarists? ;) And that rules. I'm with you there...Nocturnal through Ritual is their greatest reign, IMO, but let's hope 'Nightbringers' launches another for them.
Aggressive Tendencies I had no idea Brandon Ellis had left Arsis for TBDM like Ryan Knight did until it was mentioned in this article. Its funny because I have heard Arsis referred to as a "guitar farm" witj Nick Cordle also leaving for Arch Enemy. There is definitely some Arsis sounding songs on this album especially Kings of the Night World which sounds alot like Beyond Forlorn and Handbook for the Recently Deceased. I do consider Arsis a far superior band but there are alot of similarities in their sound.
started my love for them through headbangers ball with Jamey Jasta of hatebreed with the what a horrible night to have a curse, then from then on nocturnal was a must and seeing nocturnal in full this year at slaughter was a nonstop fun fest of pits everywhere and to hang out with the guys through out the day 😈😈 this is a top notch release cant wait for next friday for through the eyes of the dead 🤘🤘🤘 You guys have to revied that album next when it drops
fuck yea,its a huge thanks for him keeping metal going through headbangers ball as far as he could 🤘🤘and hell yea it was, everyone killed it for slaughter but fetus murder the floor
I had suuuuuch high hopes for this album because everyone and their mother was giving it 4.5/5 or 9.5/10 or even perfect scores, and while this album is freaking gorgeous it still doesn't beat a few albums for me, though at this point what could? I'd say this album would place 4th behind Nocturnal, Ritual and Deflorate.. competing with the 4th spot with Miasma. While it is a monumentally solid album it just didn't blow me away as those previous ones.
Thanks man! That rules, Exclaim! Aggressive Tendencies is sponsoring that tour. I'm seeing another tour we're sponsoring that night: Cattle Decapitation/Full of Hell/Artificial Brain/Revocation.
im sooo gonna get this album ! and im not talking about spotify online bullshit ! i grew up with VHS and tapes and the MTV headbanger's ball ... im gonna get this cd
I first heard of these guys when they released nocturnal. A friend of mine said they were a bit similar to At the Gates, that got me hooked right there.
Not sure if i wss annoyed or just burnt out on the dahlia(fan since the first demos) but i didnt give the latest line up chNge any chance till now. I just stopped black dahlia all together and went doom metal and black metal . Now im listening and they sound amazing as usual. One of my most favourite death metal bands in my lifetime. Great review as usual from bamger tv as well. You guus put out amazing content. Cheers.
When I think "Widowmaker," I think of that amazing tune from raw meat slingers and one-time Slayer tourmates W.A.S.P.... Or maybe Dee Snider's Widowmaker featuring the versatile Al Pitrelli on guitar. C'mon, Brad, can't TBDM come up with an original song title?
They have plenty of original song titles, so original in fact that I couldn't remember one of the titles haha. They're allowed to have song titles using more common phrases!
Love the album 4.5/5 for me. The only thing that bugs me is I feel the drums are way to up front in the mix. Sometimes I have a hard time picking up rhythm guitar parts. I'm probably just deaf.
hell yea I'd love to see a review done because I know you'll do it justice 🤘🤘 and same here it's a staple for them with nocturnal which I started with what a horrible night to have a curse from headbangers ball
Killer Record! Brad.. if you have a brother named Andrew, he showed me A Vulgar Picture over MSN Messenger back in the day, you must have showed him and he showed me!
Aggressive Tendencies I'm from Huntsville.. my friend Fraser moved to kitchener and met Andrew and we became friends basically over the black Dahlia murder, thanks to you. I love your reviews and have seen all of them.. didn't clue in until now lol Cheers \m/
Sorry to report we had technical difficulties and were unable to live stream. But we did record a Metal Blade albums debate and it will be up on the channel next week. Thanks for patience!
YOU WILL BEHOLD: INFINITE BRINGERS OF THE NIGHT! BLACK FLAME OF SATAN BURNING FOUL AND BRIGHT! WE KINDRED BRINGERS OF THE NIGHT! YOUR BLOOD OUR SWEET DELIGHT!
I understand why they went back to their roots with a "nocturnal" sound. It's probably because they have almost no remaining original members and have just made another lead guitar change. They gotta hit those roots to make sure they still sounds like Black Dahlia Murder
I agree this album feels like a nod to nocturnal in a lot of ways, which was awesome, however some of the guitar solos felt a bit forced, like they were only there because they had to be. The guitar work is otherwise amazing, but so many times I caught myself really feeling a track and then the solo would hit and just pull me out of it.
Been fan of them since UNHALLOWED never bad album they get better Trevors lyrics are crazy and get more darker wish he would get away from the evil lyrics like in the nightbringer song but i dont take it seriously the music awesome i rate this 9.5 the 2nd track is trevor takes it as far as he can
Thanks, Brad!
Thank YOU for flying the flag for metal for 35 damn years!
35 years? And you're still fucking rocking \m/
Looking forward to reading the book
Luis Ascanio What book are you referring to?
Catching them live in Oregon in November for the second time this year and the fifth time overall. Thanks for backing them up for all these years been a fan since the 8th grade (I am 25 now) and these two fucks are still living the dream.
Killer CD. their best since Nocturnal (and I love every record they released)
It's right up there with Nocturnal and Ritual for my favourite. Cheers!
kreshBACON it was Deflorate for me but same dude this album is top notch
The only channel where I love all the reviewers lol. And they can make me listen to any band. Lucky I like TBDM.
Glad you like us all! Phew! Thanks for watching.
Great to hear!
That skinny blonde dude is an idiot.
TPike777 the skinny guy is great because even if he dislikes the band he does his best. Also I like this channel because they let us review the album as well
I'm dying my hair blonde and losing weight so I can be an idiot!!!!!!
I love this album. Especially "catacomb hecatomb" and "the lonely deceased".
Yessssssssssss
Thank you, Brad. Thanks, so much. Now we wait for Cannibal Corpse and Converge
Thank YOU! Converge are the GOAT, baby.
Converge?!? Had no idea, favorite band. Thanks!
They're my favourite too! I have an entire back piece based on one of their songs and another tattoo on my leg.
Woah, that's awesome, man! Which song is it based off?
My back piece is "Eagles Become Vultures" and my leg tattoo is "Homewrecker."
My ignorance always assumed that The Black Dahlia Murder was a shitty metalcore band. Sounds like I was extraordinarily wrong. Time to check them out.
A lot of people pigeonholed them as such, as they came up around that time, but they were always a pretty straight-ahead melo death band. Hope you like what you find when you check 'em out!
Indeed I do! Cranked this new album on my commute today and it rips. Reminds me in places of Carcass' Heartwork.
Yuck.
Haha but I get why they did the shirts...they opened them up to that "core" scene and helped gain them crossover appeal.
it'd be great if guys talked about the lyrics too. Trevor writes pretty dark and badass stuff IMHO
I wish I had the lyrics while reviewing because I would have loved to.
Agreed! We always try to get the lyrics for the reviewers with the music but they are not always included in the liner notes, or those notes are not available to us in advance. Thanks for watching!
In an interview Trevor actually talks about how he rewrote entire songs because he didn't feel they were dark enough lol.
That rocks. What a legend.
Blast Fiends here. 5/5. Wew
FIEND!
We out here
We. Are. Everywhere. Argue with us and get a NAH. HAILS.
I definitely love this album. A good mix of the experimentation they have done over the past albums but a good mix of the always loved Nocturnal album. Hails!

Brandon Ellis REALLY brought a new spark. Dude is pretty insane. Definitely going to listen to these guys again.
Kings of the Nightworld might be one of my new favorite songs
So fun! Thanks for watching.
I still prefer Ryan Knight as lead guitar for tbdm, Brandon is very good, and probably faster, but Ryan had a musicality I don't often find on many metal guitar players.
I guess only time will tell. I'm not 100% saying Brandon is the best, but he proved at the very least he can keep up.
Aggressive Tendencies I totally agree!
I totally agree. Brandon is no slouch but I really liked Ryan
All he does is bend, quick run, bend quick, bend quick run. Ryan was wayyy more versatile in his playing. He is still a great replacement stylistically tho. Very similar to Ryans
TRUE!!!!! Ryan is a true musician!! cant stress it enough
This is easily my favorite album from them since Deflorate. Also, please tell me you're going to review the new Converge album once it's out.
I reallllllly like Ritual, but this is right up there for sure. Thanks for watching. And I'm hoping to ;)
Aggressive Tendencies There's just something about Deflorate I love so much. I Will Return is still in my top 5 favourite TBDM tracks. Looking forward to that possible Converge review! Cheers from B.C my dude, you earned yourself another sub with this.
Mitchell C. Fucking same man. Deflorate was my favorite before this.
Chris Crowe Dude, you rock. I somehow just noticed this late alert but I love how often we run into each other xD
This album is a banger all the way through! 5 out of 5 skulls for me.
Banger, eh? ;) Thanks for watching!
I have to drop the puns when it's a beast of an album. Probably their best since Ritual. Thanks for the great review!
Agreed on best since Ritual. Thank you very much!
I got into these guys with 'Ritual' only because I really liked the album cover. Been a fan ever since. I remember on Christmas day last year I got 'Abysmal' for a present and was like "I KNOW WHAT I'M LISTENING TO'. Even my family know who they are now! Awesome!

I was actually at the new set reviewing Archspire last week ;) Check that out if you missed it. Thanks so much!

Hell yeah. They actually have an ex-Arsis guitarist now, and the guy before this one was ex-Arsis, too. Thanks for watching!
I first saw this band in high-school I am now 29. They are still kicking ass and it makes me happy.
Hey, you're a year older than me. Also a longtime fan here who is also happy they're still kicking ass. Thank you for watching!
4 out of 5?! That's a damn fine rating officially, but I'd bump it up to 5!
Blast Fiend here, and this is the best release of 2017!
Thank you for doing such a stellar review!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Chris. I'm not surprised you'd want to bump it up to 5, fiend ;)
Your intros are epic brad, you won this weeks review easily
Thanks so much :')
Gotta fuel the competition ;)
We actually are working toward a 'Battle Royale' scenario. We'll film it, naturally.
Aggressive Tendencies Awesome :)
BLAST FIENDS UNITE!
HEY FIENDO!
Fuck yeah
Scott Ross W E W
Was about to post this review on the page because of that shout out at the end lol
Fuck yeah!
I expected this, and waited for this all day, awesome review!
Hope it was worth the wait!
Aggressive Tendencies Ofcourse it was!
Too kind, too kind!
10/10 just like Nocturnal.
Nocturnal is 100% a 10/10. We'll see where this one settles in time...perhaps time will favour the release!

We sent him out for snacks and he's taking a while but will be back soon don't worry!

I'm pretty sure everyone wishes you would play with the band again but we all know you're the secret sauce.
I'm in love with that Abbath photo in the back
SAME!
One of the only newer death metal bands I truly respect. Nice, funny guys too.not afraid to hangout after shows and have fun with their fans.
Hell yeah. I love that they don't take themselves too seriously.
This album fucking rules! The screwed up lyrics, crazy riffs and amazing drumming never ever disappoint
Helllllll yeah. Thanks for watching!
Dude that riff on Carbonized in Cruciform really is their best one ever! Gets me every time
YES! THANK YOU! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Riff has fucked me up for YEARS now.
Widow Maker is a very nice beer too
I wouldn't know, as I ain't a beer man.
this band is fucking sweet. I seen them play about ~ 10 years ago with Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore and The Red Cord. Miasma was my first record.
Damn, what a tour. That rules.
Yeah it was the 'Metal Blade 25th Anniversary Tour', seen them at the MacEwan Ballroom in Calgary
Nice! A fellow Canadian. That rules.

Rituals was definitly their best so far, but i was never disapointed in what they do , its always different and freaking awesome !
Agreed. Always evolving subtly without abandoning.
got the BDM album with the mail today !!! ... forgot to say ... i love your repulsion long sleeve ! repulsion ... now thats grind metal !
Thanks so much man!
Kings of the Nightworld is definitely my favorite track on the album.

This has quickly become one of my favorite albums. They fucking killed it.
Funny you mentioned that you coud hear some Arsis in there, exactly what i thought when i listened through this album.

Aggressive Tendencies ... metal the only religion ! this was a great review
Hell yeah it is! Thanks so much :)
i love the album i'm just sad that didn't do a classic suicide song those are my favorite!
THE CHAIR'S BEEN KICKED
very in the mold of nocturnal, which is a great thing probably my third favorite after nocturnal and ritual
Hey! Those are my two favourite too.
I first heard of these guys when they released nocturnal. A friend of mine said they were a bit similar to At the Gates, that got me hooked right there.
Nice! I heard them via a sampler CD in AMP Magazine haha.
Aggressive Tendencies they were also inspired by carcass, this mortal coil sounds like a bdm song haha
Oh 100%! Just look at Trevor's forearm tattoos.
Aggressive Tendencies have you heard of cypecore, they're a pretty good melodic death metal band.

Thanks for the love, man!
Dude this guy fucking hilarious! Best review I’ve seen yet!
Thank you very much, Aaron. Much love!
Aggressive Tendencies haha no problem bro!
Great review, Brad!
Thank you so much!

Can’t wait til Feb 17th day after my birthday

I'm probably just deaf.
you guys should do a throwback review for nocturnal Brad 🤘🤘
Man, that'd be fun as hell. Such an important album to me growing up!
hell yea I'd love to see a review done because I know you'll do it justice 🤘🤘 and same here it's a staple for them with nocturnal which I started with what a horrible night to have a curse from headbangers ball
You must to do a review about Konkeror - The abysmal horizons 2012 old underated album of old time!!!
Killer Record! Brad.. if you have a brother named Andrew, he showed me A Vulgar Picture over MSN Messenger back in the day, you must have showed him and he showed me!
LOL. NO FUCKING WAY. That's 100% my brother. Small world. Where you from?
Aggressive Tendencies I'm from Huntsville.. my friend Fraser moved to kitchener and met Andrew and we became friends basically over the black Dahlia murder, thanks to you. I love your reviews and have seen all of them.. didn't clue in until now lol Cheers \m/
Haha hell yah, that rules! Thanks so much, man!
What happened to locked horns yesterday ? I can't find the video.
Sorry to report we had technical difficulties and were unable to live stream. But we did record a Metal Blade albums debate and it will be up on the channel next week. Thanks for patience!
yeah I also wanna watch it.
great review, you got a new sub !
Thanks so much, dude! Glad you dug it.
New album is my favorite since Miasma. The whole records shreds YEEE
To be fair, Kings of the Nightworld is basically a 3 minute long riff, it is such a good song
Riffing in the free world, baby!
I love this band and this album \m/
Arsis, exactly my thoughts!
Love this band. Great review. 🤘🏻
Thanks so much!
the solo part sounds like Arsis. oh wait .....
Haha!
Holy cannoli! This album is a Banger!
AYEEEE A BANGER!
YOU WILL BEHOLD: INFINITE BRINGERS OF THE NIGHT!
BLACK FLAME OF SATAN BURNING FOUL AND BRIGHT!
WE KINDRED BRINGERS OF THE NIGHT!
YOUR BLOOD OUR SWEET DELIGHT!
Trevor writes some mad lyrics!
I understand why they went back to their roots with a "nocturnal" sound. It's probably because they have almost no remaining original members and have just made another lead guitar change. They gotta hit those roots to make sure they still sounds like Black Dahlia Murder
The Solos on the Nightbringers album are so damn tasty.
TBDM are the reason I got into melodic death metal!
Great review!
Interesting. Which tracks in particular did that to ya?
Been fan of them since UNHALLOWED never bad album they get better Trevors lyrics are crazy and get more darker wish he would get away from the evil lyrics like in the nightbringer song but i dont take it seriously the music awesome i rate this 9.5 the 2nd track is trevor takes it as far as he can
Trevor is one of the greatest metal lyricists.
