Do you have older bathroom or kitchen drawers that are noisy and sound cheap? Although superior, new stainless drawer slides/glides can be expensive, especially if you need rear back mounting brackets! Save yourself some cash while reducing the cheap "rattle" sound with this DIY fix using common household items: grease, silicone, and some penetrating spray. Obviously, if you have to go out and buy these things you may as well upgrade to stainless glides. Anyway, hope this helps!

You bet! It's still smooth and relatively silent two years later.

Thanks, I'm going to try this on older style drawer tracks from 1972 where the drawers currently sound like the absolute cheapest pieces of junk ever created.

Ok, I'm back to report on my results. What I have are drawers from 1972 with similar white plastic rollers but bare metal galvanized tracks.... very screechy. First I decided to cut a corner and tried just the white grease. Bad idea, it helped a little but not much... the drawers still sounded terrible. So then I wiped off the grease and put a coating of silicone caulk in the tracks and waited 24 hrs. (BTW it's very important to wipe off ALL the grease before using silicone or the silicone won't stick). After the silicone dried I tried the drawers and they were quite a bit better. So then I added the white grease coating and the drawers were even better still. Basically the silicone adds a rubber coating and the grease makes things slide over the rubber. Bottom line this is a great solution!

I'm gonna try this. I have an all metal flat file cabinet with metal roller wheels. This will be a good solution to dampen that grinding sound of metal on metal when opening and closing those drawers.

Where I'm working now, the drawers are a lot more noisy! It's so annoying, especially when I'm preparing meals & setting the table, trying to be quiet while people are napping just a few yards away. No way can I do anything that takes more than an hour... I was able to clean up the faucet so it's not a struggle to turn on & off. Getting it to swivel from the left side sink to the right side sink... That's still a work in progress. I've just been there 14 days, half days, & have done a lot of cleaning when I'm not busy with the care of two people with very different challenges. Maybe within a few weeks I'll be able to sit down for a break & I won't come home exhausted. It does feel good to be needed & I get glimpses of being appreciated. ☮️💞🙏

The link to "spray this on the wheels" takes me to gorilla grease that's nor spray able.
Could I get the correct spray product your recommending please.

Hey - thanks for the heads up. Affiliate links change over time, or I may have gotten the wrong product linked. I just found 2 options and popped the correct links in the description.

How often does this have to be repeated

Never?? I’ve noticed no reduction since I did mine. If they do wear down, I’ll just wipe clean, dry, then apply another layer as I did in the video.
