    Underwood needs to look in the mirror too. He didn't have the right rotation on court in second half. Dainja was great on edey. Guerrier was playing well. Rodgers was okay too . Yet we saw none of those 3 and saw Goode and Harmon instead. WTF

    Purdue shot 80% from 3 in the second half. They scored 45 pts in 2nd half, 35 from 3 or the FT line.
    Edey is a good player, but he's just big. Smith, Loyer, Jones are what makes the engine run. If you eliminate the 3 ball, Purdue is a below average team. I don't understand the adjustment to take away Edey in the 2nd half. It was clearly working to let him "cook", or whatever the hell you call 28 pts on 23 shots and 50% from the FT line.
    Shannon's 2 fouls took him out of the pace of the game, but hes got to take the ball through Edey's chest when he's late running the floor. Hawkins has to shoot the ball when it moves to him naturally in rotation. Dainja/Hawkins combo needed more minutes.

    At this point, Underwood has won BIG 10 championships(regular season and tournament). I'm not thrilled about the loss but I'm looking at the bigger picture, which is the journey and having more success and a long run in the tournament that matters. We have not been past the first weekend in 18 yrs. I care more about these guys making a Sweet 16 to Final 4 run than whether they beat Purdue . They competed with Purdue, they were winning most of the game, and they can play with pretty much any team in the country. It's about the journey, improving defensively, fixing up the loose ends, and being locked in come tournament time. This team could lose in the 1st round and this team could also make a Final 4 run if things go their way. Let's see what happens

    As a Purdue Fan, I must complement coach Brad’s attitude and his mentality. I know he is getting ripped right now by the fan base (yours), but I was expecting a big Bitch-fest about the officiating and how it's impossible guarding Edey, but Underwood never went there. (Most coaches, like little Chrissy Collins, do). I thought the game was pretty evenly well-called and the refs let the players dictate the action. I hear what you guys are saying about the lack of a point guard and poor substitution patterns for the Illini, but it's hard to beat a quality team the very first year a team is assembled. Purdue stumbled plenty last year, but everyone has grown individually and, more importantly, learned how to play together as a unit.
    You guys assemble talent like it's fantasy football, trying to get the 5 best individual players. But more thought should be put into, how those individual players should fit and play together as one team. Painter gets ripped for recruiting one high-4/low-5 star, and then a bunch of 3 stars he knows that will play defense and that he can mold. But he gets players that can fill certain “roles” for the team. I thought Illinois was at their best when Shannon was suspended, and Domask was the primary scorer. He could put up 30 any night, Hawkins puts up 15-20 nightly, and you have at least a trio of starters or bench players capable of contributing 8-10. Scoring was never your guys problem. It slow spurts, overlooking opponents (Maryland, anyone?), and lack of hustle at key moments. We’ll probably see you again in the Big Ten Tourney. I'll still be rooting for you guys come March Madness, as long as you stay clear of the Boilers. We would hate to have to beat you guys a fourth time this season. Boiler Up!

    Shannon just wants to go to NBA. Played an extra year of high school to go to IMG to get a D1 offer. Then tried without success to go into NBA from Texas Tech, no luck so transferred to a bigger program. Settled on Illinois after he couldn’t get into Michigan due to poor academics. Illinois AD did the right thing suspending him. Too bad it didn’t hold. He has been a distraction to the team all season.

    • @joelarson79
      @joelarson79 6 месяцев назад +2

      Terrence is an honor roll student studying sociology. He didn't get into Michigan because he needed an extra course because one of his didn't transfer from Texas Tech. He would have had to pay out of pocket for the summer school class at Michigan. He still needed the course to get into Illinois as well but they gave him the schollie and then incorporated the class into his regular fall schedule so he wouldn't have to pay for the class. So it wasn't due to poor academics. Also he hasn't been a distraction to the team. He's one of the leaders on the team and their best player along with being respected by his team mates and everybody in the program. You have no clue what's going on in Champaign and the Illinois basketball program.
