Phonolyth did it right. Instead of saying “let me give you a reverb or a chorus” they said “let me give you parameters” this effect is so musical. I had to buy as soon as it was released.

Great vid covering Cascade, there have been so many amazing reverbs that have come out in recent times,

Looks pretty cool and very versatile. But I already have Velvet Machine and Alteza, which kinda covers alot of these sounds. Or does it, "must have more reverbs"

Eurorack is glorious. It's soooo so so so sooo much more affordable now than it was 6 years ago when I got into it. I thirst for those Buchla licensed modules..
Yeah, Euro-modular setups can be purchased at very low cost nowadays. Pretty insane. But to be honest, I’m looking forward to DIY-ing a lot again. Used to do it in the past but I was also mostly making stuff I needed.

Now it’ll be things I just want basically, so the stress factor is non-existent for me. Plus I’ll have more fun too … I think. 😅😂

The nice thing is that if you’re handy with a soldering iron and can read basic schematics, it’s possible to bring cost down even further.

It’s funny because I’ve already ordered a printed circuit board and panel from Etsy. I’ve also ordered 3340 chip from Thonk. I have all other components here already (might need to get a few more jacks) but I don’t even have a rack yet. 😂

That adding modulation to the damping is an interesting idea... is it possible all in the app? Or was that added using AUM?
I was using an external lfo app called mLFO to modulate all those moving parameters. So I was doing MIDI modulation.

The two don’t really compare. Cascade is much more than just a reverb.
What's going to be your midi to CV workflow? Do you have a Eurorack module that will do that? or a desktop device? I have been using the Korg SQ-1 as the Midi to CV...but open to a different unit...if anyone watching has different suggestions to get iOS midi to other devices. Thanks!
There’s a few options but haven’t decided yet. So far I’m liking some of the Expert sleeper models. I like the ES-8 since it opens up for a lot of modulation possibilities, using something like MiRack with the modular etc. But yeah, not decided yet. I’m also looking. At some other op to one, DIY etc.

We need to unite forces with Louis Rossmann and stop this trend! - If there was a buy once option with limited updates and reasonable upgrade price at a later point, that would be ok for me. 🤷♂️ But I am too jumpy in how I use software (ADHD much 🤷♂️), a subscription never makes sense to me.
To be honest, I am excited for people who have been wanting this to happen for a long time. I am also excited becuse this might make other desktop DAW makers have a second look at iOS and do the same, port their big suites over. I’m a Cubase guy and have been since decades, so I’d loose my shit if Steinberg ported Cubasis over.

When it comes to subscriptions, I’m not too fond of that myself either. I’d rather just pay a price for a software thing and then pay for upgrades when they’re ready. Just my preference.

However there’s another issue with iOS and that is the pricing structure in general. I’ve always had the opinion that pricing is too low and that will have to change also in the future, especially if apps are expected to work across platforms, since that require more work.
Btw, I have the same problem with focus and how my mood changes what type of apps I’m using. A lot of jumping around.
@@JakobHaq Yep, I am excited too about desktop-grade apps coming to the iPad. Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci Resolve, Logic Pro, … and probably more. Will keep my fingers crossed that Steinberg ports Cubase, and that they use their experience in rewriting Cubasis for that. (As Yoda says: “The greatest teacher failure^Dpain is.” 😅)
And I agree, the price for iOS software needs to go up. A lot of work goes into developing or porting the apps. And it looks like the prices slowly get there. - On the other hand, the best price structure that I can imagine right now would be: 1/3 to 1/2 of the full license price for a license limited to iOS, and pay the difference to the full license to make the software work on all platforms. Because iPad is comparable to a laptop in performance, but cannot beat a desktop or Mac Studio. There will always be the “Pro” and “Ultra” CPUs for those (*). So, iOS / laptop will be the mobile / entry level platforms. And that can be good for developers: give the users a full product on mobile, for a reasonable and affordable price, but if they need more power (and can afford it), then there are the desktop / studio platforms and the software license can be upgraded too. Of course, this may work better for some apps and worse for others.
Just my 2 cents, for now.
(*) Because the size of the device and the possibilities for active cooling dictate how much additional processing power can be put into them. Externally attachable CPUs don’t touch that, because they never have the RAM access speeds of the built-in CPUs. In short: device size dictates processing power, larger devices will be faster / more “pro”.
This is one of those apps that makes typical Music Tech RUclips channels look crazy to me. Build these algorithms into a small piece of hardware with it’s own dsp and charge $399 for it as a pedal and act crazy when someone says a phone, tablet, or computer can do it better. #butbuttons
😂 Well we all have preferences. Cascade is really impressive and for the price, provides the user with an insanely useful and interesting app.
@@JakobHaq There are so many iOS apps that easily compete with (or are better than) very expensive pedals/synths/keyboards/multi effects. I don't understand how so many lose sight of the fact that every digitally run device is a computer running someone's software algorithms. iPhones and iPads are much more powerful computers than most (any?) of these devices...Make it make sense! Lol
