thank you, im gonna try this method and i believe it would be even better then all the plugs and pigtails. this is the real wisdom: nooway i could find out this on my own
I just thought of something after watching this and the Navy Perique Video, I am a fisherman specifically Halibut and I fish with a very heavy gauge monofilament line. Monofilament is stretchy by nature and readily absorbs shock by stretching and this allows you to fight very large fish with minimal loss do to breaking the line. Some people have switched out to zero stretch lines now so they can better "feel" the bite as its telegraphed up the fishing line....anyways the stuff I use has a breaking strength of 600lbs! and is 3mm thick. I bet if I wrapped up a perique with that stuff it would strangle it like a boa constrictor. I'll try it and call it a HALIBUT Perique
These 'carottes' do require quite a bit of effort but as you said, I too believe it's better than a small diameter press. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the next one.
Simon, this is invaluable watching the process of creating the blends, that we will be able to taste in the near future. I hope I will be able to let at least some of it mature for a year or two, to see what difference it will make. Keep on roping 😁
Great video…love to watch your methods. It always alarms me when you see juices lost in mechanical pressing processes as I always think that there’s probably a corresponding flavour loss as a result.
Hiyas Simon, a brilliant way to to apply even, long term compression on the leaf. It puts me in mind of a powerful pressure sleeve. Will those tobacco sausages get heated or cooled in any way, or are they stored and kept at "room" temperature? Well done Simon.
Hi Frank, in this case the tobacco was moist enough and didn't need any further spraying. It was just a bit moister than optimal smoking levels. I found last year that if it was too moist at this stage then the tobacco was very difficult to rub out and formed almost gum like seams where the cell structure of the tobacco was destroyed in the pressing process.

I have been trying to learn how to make Peruvian “mapacho” tobacco from rustica and this video is so helpful for how to roll it, thank you! 🙏🏼
Oh great a vaper (with a twist)! Looks very promising Simon, great video as always 👍😀
Hopefully it will pay off!

The stretchy line would probably work a treat! They are big fish to catch with a rod!
The mystery stage????
Can't wait for the next episode....hopefully all will be revealed
uploading now!

and of course if you only have one press this method means that several batches can be pressed simultaneously!
I remember seeing the end product on last years pressing show and it looked wonderful. This should be just as good or more. Thanks for sharing.
Fingers crossed!
What an amazing technique Simon! Proper old school 😊👍🏻
I am glad I stumbled on the original video last year!

hopefully more roping today!

I agree, it is a bit counter productive to expel anything from the tobacco!

i have to keep it a secret until the next video!!!!!

Was the tobacco somewhat moist before you started to roll it ? Did you spray it with a sugar/water concoction ?
