The founding titan has the ability to change memories but if someone already wrote a book, the book obv wouldn't be changed. Or kinda like what you said, someone wrote it and it was lost to time and then someone else in Armin's family found it and passed it onto his grandfather and so on. I'm not sure of this but this is what I always thought. I don't believe his grandfather was from outside the wall because how would he have gotten in the walls? Grisha got "caught" trying to get in. When he was in jail for this the guards said they had never heard of someone (such as a civilian) being outside the walls and coming in. If I was wrong about my theory that the book was written before the memories were changed and it was found by his grandfather or someone before him in the Arlert family, I believe your first theory regarding his family being a minority and not being affected by the founding titans powers makes way more sense than the ladder. @@scintilanti yeah they even said when armin and eren were tlaking about the book that any books that talked about the "books talking about the world outside the walls" were illegal. So im sure theres more books like that seeing that they literally said "all the books" were illegal which implies there were multiple books. Armin's grandfather just had one of these books I assume.
if you take a look at the warhammer titan it does have a bulge where the ear should be and when they are transforming into titan form they have the holes for the ears while armin doesn't have holes at all so the warhammer titan dose have ears just not really visible

Simple. Armin's great grandparents were part of the original group of Eldian settlers that fled to the island with king Fritz after the Titan War and brought the book with them. Nothing special about the bloodline.
That wouldn't explain how they hid it for that long. Everything that was brought with them must have been removed somehow. Otherwise the knowledge of the real world would have spread again at some point.

I believe that the reason why Armen Titan has no ears is because he doesn’t want to hear the screams of people when he kills them. Because Armen is a very kind person and he states in the first season that he doesn’t like to hurt people or fight he is always reasonable and tries to get people out of arguments.
okay so as for the book the most logical explanation would be its just a book that armins ancestors brought with them when the eldian empire fled to paradise and just so happened to keep hold of the the book there for when their memories were erased. but also this does make for a good video.

The Eldians within the walls speak the same language as the people from Marley but they write it differently. This is why Reiner was surprised when Ymir was able to read a can of veeery old provisions at Utgard Castle.
