Hi Michel- I’m a small animal veterinarian. Glad Max is feeling better! It doesn’t sound quite like idiopathic vestibular syndrome, which usually has a characteristic head tilt, nystagmus and circling (if able to walk). Some times these random things happen but everything checks out👍🏻😊.

My dog koda had the same symptoms about a year ago due to eating weed. My husband and I were traveling through Colorado when he took about and he came back in and couldn’t walk with lethargic and dizzy and unfortunately, he did digest some weed somehow nobody in our family does that kind of thing I guess it’s pretty popular in Colorado as it is in California. Weed can be fairly harmful to dogs.😅glad he is doing better .
It does sound like weed. The symptoms are typical for dogs who ingest it. If they get into it and eat like an edible they will be fine. Most vets will tell you to monitor at home because all they will do is literally let them sleep it off. My dog loves the smell of it so we know to really keep it up and away!!
Hey Michel! I have worked in animal welfare (shelters) a long time. I think possibly what you are describing is post seizure behavior. Sometimes dogs can get a seizure from stress. It’s something we see a lot in animal shelters. Might have been that he got stuck in the closet and that induced a seizure, and what you were seeing was the aftermath. I’m glad he is OK!
The candles came out really cute! When I saw the interior of your dresser, it reminded me of the one I used to have. For that I found separators that slide on to the shelf on Amazon. I could adjust the width of the space. Back then I used it for purses.
If you have any way to check and see if there was an intruder, please do. Check your belongings and scan for cameras too. I don’t want to seem paranoid but, it is possible he was sedated and locked in the closet.

It's weird that he was in your closet with the door closed. Did someone break in and do something to Max and throw him in there? I mean, that sounds absurd, but is anything missing from your house? It makes no sense.......but I hope he continues to improve. I mean.....do you remember saying goodbye to him when you left to go out for the night? If so, how would he end up in a closed closet? Weird.
I almost feel like he accidentally got closed in the closet and then got overheated in there and stressed. I'm so glad he's okay and they ran every test and everything looked good. That is so reassuring. Prayers for your little sweet pea Max! 💙💯🐾

Michel I am so glad Max is OK> I feel your anxiety. We just lost a lab puppy due to neglegence of the Breeder. HE should have been taken to the vet before we got him and was not. I was just going to add that some houseplants are poisonous to animals I know the hanging vine ones are for sure. I know you love your plants like I do , so maybe a leaf fell off and max ate it? I don’t even know if he is the type to eat things like that. Anywho I am soooo glad he’s ok and the candles turned out so cute , my mom and I are going to try it out and make some! 😀😀
Currently in bed sick with fever and cough and you are like a breath of fresh air. I’m sorry about max, but I’m glad he’s ok. Maybe he just got stuck in the closet and got hot and overheated? Just a thought. I love the new lampshades, you just need a smaller bulb!
Have you checked the house plants or flowers that you have in the house. Those can sometimes be toxic to pets if they eat from them. I sadly had to get rid of all my favorite house plants after my cat would eat from them. And if I get flowers i can only place them in rooms she can’t get to, because she will pull them out of the vase by the stems and many flowers are toxic too. I hope he feels better soon!

Hello from Brisbane, Australia. It is currently the end of our winter and I am also sitting in the AC. It's a balmy 32 degrees celsius outside. Bonkers!
I don't know how big your rooms are but what we did is just put a luxury sleeper sofa that pulls out a mattress into the office. We have guests a few times a year so then it can be a guestroom. Otherwise it's just an office with a nice couch😊
Hope Max is doing okay. Hate to say we had a beloved cat who had gotten outside. And when I found her, got her back and she couldn't walk right, stumbling. Our vet said she'd been poisoned by something and it acted on the spine and brain stem. Worries me too, debated not mentioning, so is out of just caring. As long as noone shut him in the closet! Hopefully all will just get better and the weird will go away. ❤ Sending love and hugs to Max. You too!

Michel!! About Max, the same happened to my 16 year old dog whom unfortunately passed away this year. It doesn’t sound so severe with Max but my baby would get dizzy, could barely walk and she had her head tilted. It’s called Canine idiopathic vestibular disease often referred to as 'old dog vestibular syndrome', is a sudden and non-progressive disturbance of balance. This disorder stems from issues affecting the dog's vestibular system within the brain, located in the inner ear, and middle ear. I’d say keep an eye out for Max because surely after the first time my dog had the symptoms she started having strokes (idk if this had anything to do with the vestibular syndrome or if it was my dogs age so take everything I say with a grain of salt but just in case keep an eye out for it) I’m glad he’s all better though 🥹❤️
Came here to say this! My dog had idiopathic vestibular disease when she got older too. VERY scary but not fatal. She only had one spell of it and then it never happened again 🤷♀️ I'm glad Max is feeling better!

I had a dog that had this, it came on quickly & left quickly as well. She was unable to walk for several days. I moved into my neighbor's garage to care for her as things got quite messy. Fortunately, she didn't develop any other problems.
Debated writing this and don't mean to freak you out but if you have security cameras, please please please check the footage of that night. The fact that Max was in your closet with the door closed is highly suspicious !

Love the lamps!! I would just pull the cord some to bring the shade closer to the bracket. I think that will help the sizing illusion. 💗

I was just going to add that some houseplants are poisonous to animals I know the hanging vine ones are for sure. I know you love your plants like I do , so maybe a leaf fell off and max ate it? I don’t even know if he is the type to eat things like that. Anywho I am soooo glad he’s ok and the candles turned out so cute , my mom and I are going to try it out and make some! 😀😀

Have you checked the house plants or flowers that you have in the house. Those can sometimes be toxic to pets if they eat from them.
I sadly had to get rid of all my favorite house plants after my cat would eat from them. And if I get flowers i can only place them in rooms she can’t get to, because she will pull them out of the vase by the stems and many flowers are toxic too.

Hello from Brisbane, Australia. It is currently the end of our winter and I am also sitting in the AC. It's a balmy 32 degrees celsius outside. Bonkers!
I don't know how big your rooms are but what we did is just put a luxury sleeper sofa that pulls out a mattress into the office. We have guests a few times a year so then it can be a guestroom. Otherwise it's just an office with a nice couch😊
Hope Max is doing okay. Hate to say we had a beloved cat who had gotten outside. And when I found her, got her back and she couldn't walk right, stumbling. Our vet said she'd been poisoned by something and it acted on the spine and brain stem. Worries me too, debated not mentioning, so is out of just caring. As long as noone shut him in the closet! Hopefully all will just get better and the weird will go away. ❤ Sending love and hugs to Max. You too!

Michel!! About Max, the same happened to my 16 year old dog whom unfortunately passed away this year. It doesn’t sound so severe with Max but my baby would get dizzy, could barely walk and she had her head tilted. It’s called Canine idiopathic vestibular disease often referred to as 'old dog vestibular syndrome', is a sudden and non-progressive disturbance of balance. This disorder stems from issues affecting the dog's vestibular system within the brain, located in the inner ear, and middle ear. I’d say keep an eye out for Max because surely after the first time my dog had the symptoms she started having strokes (idk if this had anything to do with the vestibular syndrome or if it was my dogs age so take everything I say with a grain of salt but just in case keep an eye out for it) I’m glad he’s all better though 🥹❤️

Came here to say this! My dog had idiopathic vestibular disease when she got older too. VERY scary but not fatal. She only had one spell of it and then it never happened again 🤷♀️

I had a dog that had this, it came on quickly & left quickly as well. She was unable to walk for several days. I moved into my neighbor's garage to care for her as things got quite messy. Fortunately, she didn't develop any other problems.
