I don't know if it applies to your audience or not, but a number of people I know have significantly reduced the amount of youtube and influencer content they consume because a lot of it is marketing products and people simply can't afford to buy more than necessities. I think the demand for influencer content would naturally go down when the economy sucks.
I can attest to this, if a creator I follow posts a haul video, I don't watch it, unless it's a thrift haul, the market is so saturated it gets overwhelming, I know Michel is technically an influencer but her bidris don't really feel that way which I enjoy

I love RUclips, I grew up on it from age 8. Here is what I think is pushing me away from clicking specifically lifestyle content - The amount of ads is getting extreme and feels not genuine. It also feeds into this overconsumption that is not normal to the average American during this financial time. Lack of connection to the audience. I think watching people live these “perfect lives” and giving their takes on living is just not applicable to the general consumer. As a medical student I find the contrast just not relatable. For your channel I think the biggest difference is that your relatability is going down (sponsorships and constant shopping) and it feels like you are focused on living instead of content. That’s great though! You should heal and focus on the real world. But I think other people are doing the same because the content is not super engaging. But all the love to you I’ve been here since 2019 and I love to see you happy!
I'm going to be honest because I've been watching since your small apt days. Yes, the ads are a bit much and so are the products. Most people are on a budget and cannot afford a $1500 vacuum. I also think its become obvious that you only see RUclips as a job. There was a time when you had passion in this and now that you've been given an advance in your adsense this is something you have to do because you're in a contract. You seem to really enjoy cooking. Give jordy $20-$30 and have him pick food out at Aldi's and you create a meal from that without using google or items in your house (except salt, pepper, oil.) No going back out to shop for more items. Just use what he bought? I think that would be fun, cheap and interesting! Do a video where jordy does your makeup on a day where you will be with friends and get their reaction!? You're a very creative person. I think you need to find happiness and joy in yt again. Do silly videos that make you laugh!
Those are some fun ideas! However, her sponsors may expect a certain demeanor from her that reflects the position of the brand? Just wondering if that’s why it feels like there’s more of an agenda with the videos?

She will draw the right viewing crowd for her content, her evolution will draw new views and those that she’s outgrown will find new creators to watch! I've bee a long time subscriber. I like your food content but I've honestly been avoiding your vlogs. I think people either want something to entertain them after a long day or during a quick break or they're looking for some value to add to their life but your lifestyle is so unrelatable. I wish I could consider going shopping at a clothing boutique then going grocery shopping a job but the reality is, I have to work my butt off to afford the bare minimum groceries and a clothes boutique is a luxury I may get to experience once a year if I'm lucky. I think your ideas in the food content space are great and creative so I'd suggest continuing to pursue that, really focusing on teaching people on a budget how they can recreate restaurant style meals.
I agree. I like her style of vlogging, and she seems very nice. But her life is not relatable. I don‘t find the food content relatable either, though. Michelin Star Restaurants are just not a part of my life. I‘m not sure if her brand is built on being relatable or on being aspirational 🤔
@@paulas7414 I think that fact that she's trying to recreate the Michelin restaurant's recipes at home makes it potentially attainable for the average person, but she still has to keep in mind budget because some of those videos she's spent so much money for the courses. It's entertaining but if she doesn't consider the cost involved, it's like you said - no relatable either.
I agree. The endless stream of new clothing (especially the items that are extremely pricey) just give me the ick. I’d absolutely love to be able to pop into a boutique and buy whatever my heart desires but that’s not reality for a lot of people.
I totally disagree as we all live different life’s and I just apply it to what mine can afford. We need not judge or compare just like I don’t with my personal friends who have more or less money or items of worth than I do. It’s life and it happens in our circles of friends. I consider her my friend when watching.

My constant “low-key” complaint in last 3-6 months is pushing out too much ad content 😞 it’s a bummer the quantity over quality. You have a true talent for all things décor, hosting and event planning! I love that you guys share your love with friends by hosting fun get togethers. Enjoy your time with friends and trust that you will be led to new ones in time. It is hard to have close friends move away, but if you soak up every moment you can with them, you will feel content knowing you gave them one of your most precious gifts which is time. ❤️

I hate to hear about the “flop era”! I absolutely love all of your videos! I found your channel right around the time you started dating Jordy (that is my pups name after a football player) ❤ I went through a pretty bad experience with anxiety and depression so I started re-watching a lot of your blogs almost from much earlier in your Chanel, excluding your ex. You have a certain relaxation quality that eases my anxiety! I hope RUclips as a whole continues… I think some of us are a that are little bit older, enjoy the longer form content. Like I enjoyed scrolling TikTok for a good laugh, but when I want reviews or actual ideas for homemaking, vlogging, etc. I want long form! It’s generational, I guess! I am 49 but still have a good attention span lol
Michel, I LOVE your content. No matter the views, likes, whatever, please keep making videos that you love to make. The way you do life is so inspiring and I can relate to putting my self-worth into work… I did that in school with academics and I can feel myself doing it now with work and even wedding planning somehow? I’ve had to make some life decisions around that realization (putting off grad school longer), which is scary, but necessary for my mental health + prioritizing my new marriage. Anyway, thank you for being you and being someone us girls can look up to.❤
I love you videos and it’s definitely slowed down all I would say is sometimes I get a little bored with the over explaining in the little chats like some things feel like you don’t need to talk about them for so long if that makes sense. But that’s just personal preference like i skipped a lot of the picnic stuff because the chat dragged on . But even so I watch everything you post and I enjoy watching your life become something you dreamed about in terms of personal life . I love a sit down video I just don’t like explaining every thought and every step and reason in your day to day stuff but not enough to not watch . Your the sweetest person i watch and inevitably people grow out of each other and like u say more drama more viewers watch so now there is real value in who’s watching ❤️

It’s impossible to buy a house in Cali unless you get help from parents and make a lot of money without having to work a lot (influencers). I don’t blame people for moving away. Me and my husband are both in tech and make very good money (and work 50 hrs a week each) but we still couldn’t afford. Could people with normal jobs like your sister and her husband afford it? My money is on no unless they receive help from parents.

I have unsubscribed due to content change. I pick and choose videos that are not too food based. I love the low and slow videos that show your daily life and your personality…. Just the chef niche is not for me..
I agree. Food porn is not my thing. Always have to watch what I eat so I enjoy watching non-food related content. But I love how Michel is expanding her skill set - like she said, you can’t necessarily rely on the influencer bubble lasting forever. Working in food - especially in a health conscious state like California that has access to excellent produce - makes a lot of sense. I will always support her - she is an A grade human.

I love your channel and your content! I’ve been watching since the OG subscription box era and I feel like I’ve grown up with you loving the real life every day content!
The moving transition is normal. When we were in our late 20s to early 30s 80% of our close friends group moved. We all lived in the San Francisco bay (all working in tech) and as people took new jobs, wanted to more easily buy a home, had kids and wanted to move back where they had family. Toward the end of the exodus, we also ending up moving down to Orange County and eventually SD for new opportunities. However, we've all stayed in touch, it's a fun excuse to go on group vacations. Us girls have an annual weekend get together, we'll have Facetime(or Zoom) group hang outs and movie nights. The bonus to living in San Diego is we are the destination, people are always wanting to come visit. I expected it to taper off after a while, but 15+ yr later, we still have a packed calendar, every year.

How does someone planning on proposing not have things planned out more than 48 hours in advance??? I have no problem with helping a friend with an event like this, but giving 48 hours notice and expecting you to do the shopping and preparing is so rude. I wouldn’t say you arent in your flop era; I would just say you are in your need to pivot era. A lot of your vlogs lately are cleaning videos, a lot of chatty talks about negative things (like what viewers think of you, and what your vlog schedule is or isn’t). I will still continue to watch your vlogs because you are interesting to watch but there is some parts of your vlogs lately that are just “ehh” and just kind of seem off. But I think with some mindfulness and with your creativity you can continue being a successful RUclipsr.
Oh Michel, I love your vlogs so, so much and will happily watch any and every format you post. Maybe some of them are a bit more niche and not every viewer is as much into cooking as someone else. Today before this video came out I was in Publix. Saw this man who had 2 girls with celiac and colitis. One severe one not as bad he was searching for a decent lunch for them was struggling to find things. Because you share how u get good foods I was able to share Thrive Market. He was so greatful and downloaded right there in the store. I also use thrive its amazing for people with food allergies. My drives are cut down multiple stores are a thing of the past. Im not scared because its good, and prices are so much better than the store. I dont feel bad leaving stores without things to eat or snack. You shared things u liked and being celiac too I'm so scared to try, bu i just today added so many things to try. I Dont helped another family. Celiac is hard often feeling like your so alone its also very social because food is in every get together. Your food allergy is not in some peoples radar even if they know. So you eat before u go then at times get belittled for not eating as if they are a bad cook. My hearts at this. Stay home most times just to avoid the most akward and to me harmful situations. Born and raised in San Clemente. From birth til college! I live in NC now and miss it so much 🥺 there’s a little restaurant right across the street from the pier called Pierside that I feel like you’d love, it’s right up your alley! And there’s a beach trail that parallels the water practically up to Dana Point, great spot for a long walk!!

I also think that a bunch of us are back to working in the office. When I used to work from home I would put videos on the side while I work but in the office I cannot do that. There are times that I go back to my favorite RUclipsrs and they have like 5 new videos I never watched.
Get Jordy to teach you to drive manual! It’s only difficult for up to an hour then it’s easy enough. Learning how to drive PLUS stick is tricky, but if you all know how to drive, the stick part is just one thing to learn.

I always go to my subscriptions tab to find new videos from the people I follow. I put them all in a watch later list so there’s a good chance I don’t get to someone’s video for a month or so. If there’s more people like me, that’s probably not great for the analytics. 😬
Yeah, RUclips has been weird lately! It hasn't been suggesting new posts from people I follow (only their VERY old videos, but not notifications of new stuff) and I've been getting more suggestions for people I don't know and waaaaaay too many shorts vs longer form.

I hate to hear about the “flop era”! I absolutely love all of your videos! I found your channel right around the time you started dating Jordy (that is my pups name after a football player) ❤ I went through a pretty bad experience with anxiety and depression so I started re-watching a lot of your blogs almost from much earlier in your Chanel, excluding your ex. You have a certain relaxation quality that eases my anxiety! I hope RUclips as a whole continues… I think some of us are a that are little bit older, enjoy the longer form content. Like I enjoyed scrolling TikTok for a good laugh, but when I want reviews or actual ideas for homemaking, vlogging, etc. I want long form! It’s generational, I guess! I am 49 but still have a good attention span lol
Michel, I LOVE your content. No matter the views, likes, whatever, please keep making videos that you love to make. The way you do life is so inspiring and I can relate to putting my self-worth into work… I did that in school with academics and I can feel myself doing it now with work and even wedding planning somehow? I’ve had to make some life decisions around that realization (putting off grad school longer), which is scary, but necessary for my mental health + prioritizing my new marriage. Anyway, thank you for being you and being someone us girls can look up to.❤
I love you videos and it’s definitely slowed down all I would say is sometimes I get a little bored with the over explaining in the little chats like some things feel like you don’t need to talk about them for so long if that makes sense. But that’s just personal preference like i skipped a lot of the picnic stuff because the chat dragged on . But even so I watch everything you post and I enjoy watching your life become something you dreamed about in terms of personal life . I love a sit down video I just don’t like explaining every thought and every step and reason in your day to day stuff but not enough to not watch . Your the sweetest person i watch and inevitably people grow out of each other and like u say more drama more viewers watch so now there is real value in who’s watching ❤️

It’s impossible to buy a house in Cali unless you get help from parents and make a lot of money without having to work a lot (influencers). I don’t blame people for moving away. Me and my husband are both in tech and make very good money (and work 50 hrs a week each) but we still couldn’t afford. Could people with normal jobs like your sister and her husband afford it? My money is on no unless they receive help from parents.

I have unsubscribed due to content change. I pick and choose videos that are not too food based. I love the low and slow videos that show your daily life and your personality…. Just the chef niche is not for me..
I agree. Food porn is not my thing. Always have to watch what I eat so I enjoy watching non-food related content. But I love how Michel is expanding her skill set - like she said, you can’t necessarily rely on the influencer bubble lasting forever. Working in food - especially in a health conscious state like California that has access to excellent produce - makes a lot of sense. I will always support her - she is an A grade human.

The moving transition is normal. When we were in our late 20s to early 30s 80% of our close friends group moved. We all lived in the San Francisco bay (all working in tech) and as people took new jobs, wanted to more easily buy a home, had kids and wanted to move back where they had family. Toward the end of the exodus, we also ending up moving down to Orange County and eventually SD for new opportunities. However, we've all stayed in touch, it's a fun excuse to go on group vacations. Us girls have an annual weekend get together, we'll have Facetime(or Zoom) group hang outs and movie nights. The bonus to living in San Diego is we are the destination, people are always wanting to come visit. I expected it to taper off after a while, but 15+ yr later, we still have a packed calendar, every year.

How does someone planning on proposing not have things planned out more than 48 hours in advance??? I have no problem with helping a friend with an event like this, but giving 48 hours notice and expecting you to do the shopping and preparing is so rude. A lot of your vlogs lately are cleaning videos, a lot of chatty talks about negative things (like what viewers think of you, and what your vlog schedule is or isn’t). I will still continue to watch your vlogs because you are interesting to watch but there is some parts of your vlogs lately that are just “ehh” and just kind of seem off. But I think with some mindfulness and with your creativity you can continue being a successful RUclipsr.

Today before this video came out I was in Publix. Saw this man who had 2 girls with celiac and colitis. One severe one not as bad he was searching for a decent lunch for them was struggling to find things. Because you share how u get good foods I was able to share Thrive Market. He was so greatful and downloaded right there in the store. I also use thrive its amazing for people with food allergies. My drives are cut down multiple stores are a thing of the past. Im not scared because its good, and prices are so much better than the store. I dont feel bad leaving stores without things to eat or snack. You shared things u liked and being celiac too I'm so scared to try, bu i just today added so many things to try. I Dont helped another family. Celiac is hard often feeling like your so alone its also very social because food is in every get together. Your food allergy is not in some peoples radar even if they know. So you eat before u go then at times get belittled for not eating as if they are a bad cook. My hearts at this. Stay home most times just to avoid the most akward and to me harmful situations.

Born and raised in San Clemente. From birth til college! I live in NC now and miss it so much 🥺 there’s a little restaurant right across the street from the pier called Pierside that I feel like you’d love, it’s right up your alley! And there’s a beach trail that parallels the water practically up to Dana Point, great spot for a long walk!!

Get Jordy to teach you to drive manual! It’s only difficult for up to an hour then it’s easy enough. Learning how to drive PLUS stick is tricky, but if you all know how to drive, the stick part is just one thing to learn.
I love how the picnic containers turned out. You did an awesome job. I need to get some of those containers we live by the beach too and would be great for picnics on the beach date days perfect!
I always go to my subscriptions tab to find new videos from the people I follow. I put them all in a watch later list so there’s a good chance I don’t get to someone’s video for a month or so. If there’s more people like me, that’s probably not great for the analytics. 😬
