  • Did You Know?
Did you know this channel, The Vinyl Restoration Project, is more than just a channel providing examples of our raw, partially restored, or fully restored audio samples from our archives of some of the best sound engineered legacy recording albums from an analog era long since gone but that we now have our own home studio business, LegacyVMP Studio (www.legacyvmp.com), where we intend to help this legacy LP mastered sound 'live again'?
To quote the opening lyric from Arthur Conley's, "Sweet Soul Music",..."Do you like good music?" And do you care about the sound quality of this 'good music', the music that we now lovingly refer to as our treasured legacy recordings from an era of music production long since gone - legacy recordings like the one just cited or cited in this video you are listening to now or "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King, "Yesterday" by The Beatles, "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" by Frankie Valli, "(Sittin' on) The Dock Of the Bay" by Otis Redding, "Baby I Need Your Loving" by The Four Tops, Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson", "Rhythm of the Rain" by The Cascades, "Georgia On My Mind" by Ray Charles and 'on and on'...?
In fact, when we talk about the exceptional sound quality of these legacy recordings and then take a turn and focus on a very special part of the process of the reproduction of this music 'to the presses', as it were, we begin to realize there is more. It was an unprecedented time in our music production history and the process, from the studios-to-the-pressing plants, included an intentionally crafted sound especially for an uncanny medium(vinyl) that oft times, brought with it, a sound that would actually eclipse the sound of the original master tape. In fact, many are dramatically profound apart from the master tape, folks.
But then let's take the conversation a step further. What happens when you take that piece of it and have it 'joined at the hip' professionally with today's incredible advances in audio technologies, to further 'exploit the exploitable' or 'embellish those embellishments' that are only found in this uniquely crafted sound? What happens then? Something that can be 'quite profound' at times within itself, and something that can be quite beautiful to the ears. And even better, something that can easily be made available to the masses where it might otherwise not ever be able to get there in totem.
So what does this mean and how is it important to you and me as consumers of the digital forms of these treasured classics?
LegacyVMP Studio is a studio that is specially engineered and equipped to produce a digitally revitalized version of this sound and take advantage. In fact, the studio is not only about preserving and promoting this sound(the Legacy LP Mastered Sound,) but we intend to help it 'live and breathe again' in today's digital age.
    How do we do that?
By leveraging and utilizing technology to create very high end digital HFE (high fidelity engineered) audio files, and then making them accessible to our incredible mastering studios to be used as they see fit.
What will they do with them (digital HFE audio files)?
Three things: 1.) use them for their own purposes, for example, to assist with their very own legacy recordings digital conversion and/or rework projects by incorporating them in creative ways, as they only know how, into their current processes for these audio projects; and/or, 2.) further prepare and present them as a 'standalone marketable sound' to be entered directly into the digital legacy audio supply channels i.e. streaming, digital broad/podcast, download or even repress new vinyl; and/or 3.) prepare them to become the new alternative 'master' file where no other viable options/alternatives exists, for example, all tape and safety masters and/or multitrack session tapes/stems no longer are applicable for whatever reason i.e. time degradation of source material rendering them no longer usable, natural disaster caused destruction, etc.
And so we are beyond grateful to now be able to 'serve-up' to and support, our incredible mastering studios by acting in a partnership role with them for the greater good of all.
“This little studio can produce it and now the big studios are able to use it.”

Best CCM band ever and also one of the most underrated bands ever. Beginning with Freedom, they ran off a string of 4 albums that are unparalleled in songwriting, performance, production, and energy consistency. And... Florian's pipes were unmatched in CCM.

Thank you and I have to agree. That was a special time. I bought their Freedom album in '89 when it was released (and the same for the other three) and it still amazes me how they engineered that incomparable string of albums. Brown Bannister is to be credited for helping them on Freedom establish and ensure the level of notoriety needed to help fuel the next three to come.
Thanks for the comment and for listening. 🎶

This was one of our 2016 archives. Friends, a lot (and I mean A LOT!) has happened since then. For starters, this classic could use another 'restoration Pass' (or two) to build on what we did in 2016, especially now. I hope to eventually make that happen at some point. But there is much more work to do. Let me explain.
Folks, are you aware that there exist many, many legacy artists that unfortunately, the digital age of music has NOT been so kind? For example, one of them is Pop/Country artist, B. J. Thomas. So my studio, LegacyVMP Studio, is on a mission to try and help do our part to change this kind of business climate within the legacy audio industry that we feel is long overdue. I think the time is right for studios like mine (and others!) to take what technology now affords us and turn it into something that can be very positive for the industry as a whole. Will you help us do that?
Here are some of our more recent restorations to help illustrate what I am talking about. I want to stress with these: 1.) the power of recent advances in audio restoration technology in particular to allow studios like mine to do what we do! 2.) I want you to hear just how far our sound has come (maturity-wise) since we began this channel in the fall of 2014. First, here is one you might recognize from Glen Campbell 🙂:ruclips.net/video/l17HWcbU9lI/видео.html. Or, how about this from Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66 that you might also recognize 🙂:ruclips.net/video/X7omaR4gS_A/видео.html. In addition, here is one or two (or three or four 🙂) from B. J. Thomas: (ruclips.net/video/RLjsKECP3lk/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/5yLgrE7-B-0/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/BFI8yBcX0qE/видео.html, and ruclips.net/video/ABPOzijuam4/видео.html). Thanks for listening!
We are now a professional studio, LegacyVMP Studio ( facebook.com/legacyvmpstudio) and we need your help spreading the word about what we do! Please visit our Business page and "Like/Follow Us". Thanks so much again and stay safe.

I've always admired this great song. It sends a powerful message not only through the words but also especially the video...To show that you can be able to have the freedom to overcome your obstacles and to show what you can do through God's strength.

possibly one of the most underated Christian rock bands ever. I followed them they Began as a 'Gaither' project back in 1982. and went on for the next 15 years, releasing their last album in 1997 titled Redemption. Billy Smiley and Mark Gershmel were the only original members to stay with the band. This production of this song is wonderful. Great job man!

Mark and his wife visited our church in 1999 as music guests. As it was more an outreach church, I was the only one that knew him from his White Heart days. I pulled out the first White Heart LP (when Steve Green was still lead singer) and had him sign it. His wife hadn't seen it and commented on their early 80's style. I spoke to him about the last few years of the band. One by one, members went their own way. He and Billy finally called it quits from the group, but not from music.

I couldn't agree more. I started listening to them in '89, going in to high school and I still listen to their music just about every week. Their awesome sound, incredible talent and love for the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ was an integral part of my spiritual growth throughout my teenage years and I am forever grateful for their contributions to my spiritual life in Jesus Christ over the decades.

You bet. I never consumed White Heart's music on vinyl originally, except for their landmark album, "Freedom", mainly because their popularity rose about the time vinyl was giving way to cassettes and eventual, CD's. Also, no doubt, the producers and engineers by this time were mastering CCM music to reach it's full potential, digitally and so CD's were the way to go, not vinyl. This is one cut from the album that translated well off vinyl, however, but you definitely want to stay with the bulk of White Heart's catalogue, IMHO, by purchasing New Old Stock (NOS) CD's for exceptional audio quality. Having said that, would have loved to have heard this band produce albums in the studio about fifteen to twenty years prior during the heyday of rock music produced expressly for the vinyl medium. Wow! Could you imagine?

    "Independence Day"
Words and Music By: Mark Gersmehl, Billy Smiley, and Rick Florian
    Listen to our declaration
    Listen to our testament
    We've been given a revelation
We are sure of where we stand
So let the banner be unfurled
We've found the light of hope in a dying world
Hear the myth of modern man
You're the god of your own land
They call you weak, a spineless fool
Say you've given up your right to rule
But I have been to the land of me
And I know I was never free
Freedom came when I gave it all away
That's why I call it independence day
    Call it independence day
Let the rockets blaze across the sky
Raise the flag of faith up high
Let the doubters call it what they may
    It's independence day
The world can crown another hundred kings
But I believe in a better dream
    They may call it slavery
But the biggest chain I knew was me
So let the idols tumble down
The walls of lies crumble to the ground
I know where salvation can be found
    Let the idols tumble down
That's why I call it independence day
    Call it independence day
Let the rockets blaze across the sky
Raise the flag of faith up high
Let the doubters call it what they may
    It's independence day
So join us in the celebration
It's the birth of a holy nation
As people of light we are proud to say
    It's independence day
That's why I call it independence day
    Call it independence day
Let the rockets blaze across the sky
Raise the flag of faith up high
Let the doubters call it what they may
    It's independence day

Ouça o mito do homem moderno
