    I have to say you two are amazing. I'm twice your age but would never have the guts to do what you are doing. It's going to look wonderful when it's finished. You should both be very proud of your achievements so far. Lots of love guys x

    I think the choice of using the lino was a sound choice environmentally and aesthetically!

    I think is eco, if flooring going to landfill, saved it from that. It's all ready made and used. Saved it rotting fir years and years in to the ground

    Might I suggest that when you are using Lino for a bathroom there is a trick where you actually go up the wall about 100mm and use a batten of timber or skirting over the top which you then use some sealer.
    It’s normally used for wet rooms but it might be a good idea for your bathroom just in case it ever floods !.
    With tiles such as you were using, you do need to scratch or score the side that goes down onto the adhesive ( you might be ok but if any comes loose you know what to do with them next time ).
    Think you two are doing a absolutely magnificent Job ❤

    Hi Jack and Gabby. You’ve done a brilliant job with the flooring. That Lino looks great in the bathroom and that slate Tetris puzzle makes an excellent base for your stove. Take care. Nick

    @claireskinner9077 Год назад +1

    You’re doing an awesome job! Using reclaimed/repurposed items makes things a lot harder, and if you don’t have good vision it can look like a dog’s breakfast.
    But that repurposed vanity and wash bowl with that flooring will look amazing - just keep your other elements tonal and it will look like you always planned it to look that way!
    I hope the slate tiles can cope with the weight of the heater - maybe don’t drag it over them ‘just in case’.
    Looking forward to seeing your progress next week - I hope you finally get your bath/shower sorted!!

    • @thistinylife
      @thistinylife  Год назад +1

      Thank you Claire!! It's always a bit of a battle going reclaimed you're right, trying to make sure everything matches enough to not be too higgledy! The thing with the stove is it's so heavy we don't have much choice with how we move it 🤣🤣 our latest ep (going up tonight) shows the fire progress! Thanks for watching ✨✨

  • @dbaldock9
    @dbaldock9 Год назад +1

    Really enjoying your boat build videos. That off-cut of vinyl flooring actually gives the bathroom a very posh look. If the slate tiles break very easily, are there any concerns about them holding the weight of the stove?

    • @thistinylife
      @thistinylife  Год назад +1

      Thank you!! We were really apprehensive about it but thank you, agree it looks quite classy down! The slates are quite thin which was a concern... But watch this week's ep (going up tonight) to see if they hold up 😉

    Beyond that you have saved a nice piece of flooring from the bin, the one thing about the vinyl is that if will work as long as you need it to. If later you decide you want to change it, you can and you won’t have an unfinished floor sitting there.

    • @thistinylife
      @thistinylife  Год назад +1

      That is one thing that was playing on our mind.. if there's ever a bathroom leak we can easily just whip up the flooring! Thank you ✨

  • @anniemac3075

    The vinyl looks great & the tiles came together very nicely, the best things in life are free! I used to love tiling & preferred using my fingers like you did to smooth the grout between them rather than some awkward expensive tool.
    Hope you're both over your snuffles x

    Do you fixate the bathroom floor on the underfloor? To prefend the water going under?

    • @thistinylife

    Why did youtube recommend this channel to me? I could not live that cramped travelling all the time lifestyle and calling no place home. Why would anyone want to be forced to be constantly on the move? Slate has always been so easily breakable and not doing what you want. We had tons of it years ago replacing roofs from ancient homes. It was very dusty messy work. Good luck. 25 years from now you will hate each other for what you went through and did. life sucks. 😞

    Lino is an excellent choice. Remember Plastic is our friend, and litter is our enemy. We need education about not throwing plastic into the road which then finds its way into rivers, and then oceans, not persecution of plastics.

    • @thistinylife
      @thistinylife  Год назад

      Hmm creating new plastic isn't really the answer though - we try to avoid it where possible. Even if there's no intentional individual littering, it finds its way into the oceans! But..... Sometimes it does have a use!
