Yes
Same thing I thought

Yhis song kept stuck in my head after 3 year of watching the best serie
This is the great paradox of the series. These vikings just slaughtered an entire village apart of us feel sorry for these people, and yet we wind up singing along with these killers.
The trope is called Comedic Sociopathy.
Bro they also raped the daughters they didn’t just murdered
Hey it wasn't a whole village really it was more like a family who owns a house & field lml
Damn bro I didn't think at it in this way
I will never, find another series that made me feel the way Vikings have made me feel.
Knowing that it came to a finish breaks my heart because I know that I won't find a series as good as Vikings. No other Series can ever replace it as my top number 1 series and when always asked "any good series?" Vikings is always my answer.
I found Viking was top 2 for me sons of anarchy I watched first and I invested a 1000 hours into the series Viking was legitimately best at making me feel like I was born In Viking times
Have you tried Last Kingdom? It's legit!
Valhalla coming soon..... 🔥

The last kingdom but not as good as this... this show was. There is no other words but a bigger word than amazing like 70x
The only two finnish actors that felt like real vikings, probably last true viking blood lives on in finland.
I LOVE king Herald Finehair's version of this song! His voice just does something unspeakable to my insides. 🙊

One of the things I love about this show is the realism with which the portray the different vikings. This scene here is exactly what happens when you find yourself in the clutch of evil men.
Please tell me in which episode in which season this episode appeared
@@yusyus2358 season 4 ep 9
"Evil" is a BS Jewish Christian notion, these Vikings weren't evil, they just killed those people as matter of course, it was the culture of the time.
Lots of good and evil are relative notions.
@@Bahamut3525 Not all viking raiders condoned the murder of women and children. Howver, as you say, most of them just found it hilarious. And sometimes it was just necessary to leave no survivors, since they would most likely alert the locals to their presence, which they would very much want to avoid. This scene is just plain cruelty though. There were specifically out to have some fun.
@@Bahamut3525 You are a fucking IDIOT if you think murdering an entire village of innocent people isn't evil.

I've been looking for this ever since the episode aired! Than you so much for posting this. This song/poem is badass. Can't stop singing it.
I was just reading Egil’s Saga and came across the origin of this song.
Egil who is 6 years old has just axed a kid called Grim in the head, and his mother tells him that he has the makings of a real Viking. Egil (who is also a poet) says the verses:
My mother wants a price paid
To purchase my proud oared-ship;
Standing high in the stern
I’ll scour for plunder,
The stout Viking-steersman
Of this shining vessel:
Then home to harbour
After hewing down a man or two.
Where can i read those sagas cause the only ones i can find are stories of Odin and the gods but never any stories of normal people please tell me in very interested in those stories
Urki I got a set of penguin classics from eBay: Egil’s Saga, Njal’s Saga, Laxdæla Saga, King Harald’s Saga and The Norse discovery of America
I definitely recommend Egil’s Saga, such a strange character.

The producers were clever to put a cheery catchy song over this scene. Makes you forget about the carnage that Harald and company left behind in that house 😬
I think they added it in to make the carnage sight more unsettling. And at the same instance, we still feel somewhat cheery, because their singing is beautiful.

@@NONAME-tz5vd pretty much every viking that was allowed on a raid did just that and worse. Dont sugar coat vikings they were wild fucking animals.
Rape was looked down upon in Scandinavian society and would be punished accordingly. It wasnt that bad if it was a slave from England, but if it was another Scandinavian woman, it could be punishable by death.

I think Harald and Halfdan may be time travellers, because they're singing a song that won't actually be written for a couple centuries here...and in another episode, Harald quotes William Blake "If you let a fool persist in his folly, he will become wise!" Anyone else think this is a good idea for a fan fiction?
This is a lullaby which is shared by voice to other people, its a folk song if you can call it that. Not being written doesnt mean they dont exist. It took a while for literate people to write down these songs which there are different versions of it since it was transmitted vocally.
