The Shocker and Electro are 2 different characters... and you saw the ORIGINAL COMIC Electro in the costume party mission. It's a brilliant Easter Egg.
7:51 Shocker’s power are in his suit and they’re limited to shooting energy blasts from his hands which he can use to jump high if he blasts the ground. Electro can control, channel, and manipulate electricity to perform various tasks including flying, creating energy storms (if he has a power source), traveling through power currents, etc. Basically Electro is like a living conductor while Shocker is like a thug with a bit more “oomph” to him.
I see Spiderman Ps4 as a culmination of all the best Spiderman games: Spiderman 2, Web of Shadows, Ultimate Spiderman, and Edge of Time. And it ends up as a better game for using what worked and adding new things upon it.
This game is and will probably remain my most hyped game of all time. I remember following it from the beginning and it’s the first game I’ve ever preordered. I remember literally shaking in the car ride home from picking it up. It definitely didn’t disappoint.

That games pretty good, I'd imagine he'd find it about the same as Spider-Man 2 though. It's pretty dated and certain things hold it back as a great experience, but still really good and if not for Miles Morales I'd say it was easily the 3rd or 2nd best Spider-Man game.

Spectacular Spiderman is a fantastic series! I'd argue that it's the Marvel equivalent of Batman the animated series. It was so well done! (Hey Johnny has a Lilac deco!)
@@kyburn6195 well you should, it actually has the same showrunner as spectacular Spider-Man and it really shows. That's probably also why it's one of the best animated dc shows i've ever seen. And there's even a pretty great reference to his time with the web head. Anyway It's great and you should check it out.
5:40 the fantastic bagger is a reference to how in a comic Spider-Man was at the Fantastic 4 tower and didn’t have a costume so Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) gave him a lunchbag and F4 costume to wear. If you want a complete crash course on spider man, the Spider-Man encyclopedia gave me most of my knowledge.
You could say that this Spider-Man game takes some cues from the Arkham series, but in a way you could also say that both it and the Arkham series take from the 2004 video game adaptation of the second Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie, which was the first in the series to be set in a wide open sandbox and features certain gameplay elements in common (like the web slinging and the combat), and thus the game that every subsequent Spider-Man game gets compared to.
Well the late 7th gen and all of 8th gen have been pretty kind to superhero games. We have the Arkham series and now Spider-Man has a winning formula, which will no doubt receive a sequel....Ha, so, where's my Flash game that ends up being better than every 3d Sonic? I know It's coming some day.
This was a really great video for me because I am pretty much the same age as you and feel 100% the same about Spider Man as you do. He's cool and all but I'm a Batman fan at the end of the day. I haven't played this game yet for the reasons you mentioned. It really did feel a little too close to the Batman games I love but just with a superhero I don't love. A great game I would recommend you trying sometime if you already haven't would be Shadow Of Mordor. I am not actually a fan of the LOTR movies or books but DAMN was this a good game and it did not stop me from enjoying this one bit. It was more or less a copy of the Batman games but it did just enough to add a few things to make it feel fresh and the fact that it was actually super violent also helped separate the two games while at the same time make the game feel more satisfying. Finally hunting down you nemesis who has been talking shit non-stop and lopping off his head in slow motion is just the best. Just too bad that the sequel dropped the ball hard. Anyway, love your content and hope to see more from you in the future. Please give Shadow of Mordor a chance one day as I would love to hear what you think about it.
Alright Johnny my guess at your next marathon is Pokémon, I've seen you say a dozen times that you might go back to the series and 6-7 years ago was just about as many years ago as the last time you looked at Pokemon

While run of the mill, I think they really sold the story. Knowing that Octavious was going to be the main antagonist just made his friendship with Peter so much harder to watch (in a good way.) Also, I get why you didn't like the weird pauses between story missions, but personally I loved them. It created a nice bit of breathing room where you had an excuse to go do some side missions. And it just felt very... Spider-Man, you know? Swing around, chill, look for a fight to get into.
Nice job explaining the lore of Spider Man without trying to marathon the game. It sucks that us XBox user can't get the hands-on experience, this would've been easily my top favorite Spider Man games of all time. The Shocker and Electro are 2 different characters... and you saw the ORIGINAL COMIC Electro in the costume party mission. It's a brilliant Easter Egg.
I stopped watching hentai on the toilet for this. It better be worth it!
It doesn't even look like hentai, it just looks like People Magazine with pictures of Spider-Man's face pasted on it.
TMI.
This is totally worth it
I mean, Black Cat's here, so...yeah. I'd say it's worth it.
Black Cat has a nice ass
Finally!your talking about a spider man game! Also love your new intro
I saw Spider verse in theaters 3 times as well, you have good taste Johnny

Shocker’s power are in his suit and they’re limited to shooting energy blasts from his hands which he can use to jump high if he blasts the ground.
Electro can control, channel, and manipulate electricity to perform various tasks including flying, creating energy storms (if he has a power source), traveling through power currents, etc.
Basically Electro is like a living conductor while Shocker is like a thug with a bit more “oomph” to him.
This will help pass the time at work, this was personally my 2018 GOTY hope you enjoyed it just as much
i like the new intro bro, the old one blasted my ears out!!! lol
Easily one of the best PS4 games overall.
AND! The Best Spider-Man Game to date. No offense Spider-Man 2 Movie Game you did your job fine enough.
I see Spiderman Ps4 as a culmination of all the best Spiderman games: Spiderman 2, Web of Shadows, Ultimate Spiderman, and Edge of Time. And it ends up as a better game for using what worked and adding new things upon it.
SwordgunnerM92 you mean THE best not one of right
Then Devil May Cry 5 came along and Dethroned Spider-Man
P5 and monster hunter also many more say I feel like we been here before.
7:52 THANK YOU FOR REMEMBERING THIS SCENE
WHAT IS A SLICER DOING ON YOUR WALL?
He hunted one down, gutted it, and mounted it on his wall as a trophy....
Or a fan got it for him. It's one or the other, I'm sure
Or a fan went out and gutted it
This game is and will probably remain my most hyped game of all time. I remember following it from the beginning and it’s the first game I’ve ever preordered. I remember literally shaking in the car ride home from picking it up. It definitely didn’t disappoint.
I was literally saying to myself “There’s a new SomecallmeJohnny video coming today” and I KNEW IT
You know you're high when you see that notification and hear that theme
"Its for the wrong reasons"
People still dont get that the dance and pie scenes were meant to be funny? Its a bad film but cmon
Tekno Pathetic I don’t really consider Spider-Man 3 a bad film
It’s not great, but not awful either
I have a bit of a soft spot for it, but I’m not unaware of its flaws
The dance scene was cringe-worthy at worst, but still managed to get a chuckle out of me
@@CrasherX2000 The dance scene was supposed to be cringe-worthy, that was the point
Fuck you Spider-Man 3 is awesome.
Finally! I’m so happy you’re covering this!
I think we're getting a Pokemon Marathon, Can't wait if so
This is a pretty fun game. And honestly, "fun," is really the best word to describe it. It's high energy, campy, silly... fun. Good review as always, Johnny.
Johnny should try out the excellent Ultimate Spider-man game for gamecube, ps2 and xbox
That games pretty good, I'd imagine he'd find it about the same as Spider-Man 2 though. It's pretty dated and certain things hold it back as a great experience, but still really good and if not for Miles Morales I'd say it was easily the 3rd or 2nd best Spider-Man game.
My favorite Marvel Super Hero Video Game, reviewed by my favorite RUclipsr, and it's been uploaded on my birthday! Thank you so much Johnny for making my day even better by you uploading, keep it up!
Especially since the newest title just came out, fingers crossed that Johnny gives the Devil May Cry series a look soon...
That and damn, I still want to play this game.
Just love it when Arkham is brought into the mix for every review, and all Spider-man PS2 games all simultaneously fade from original concepts and relevant existence.
otherwise great vid
The adventure continues. Pokémon maybe?
I swear if I’m right I get a virtual cookie.
Taskmaster has the ability to predict his opponent’s moves. It’s like a super enhanced photographic memory.
Ann May’s death is a much ‘MUCH’ better sad moment than Spider-Man One More Day!
Speaking of which, I really hope that deal with mephisto gets reversed
fuckin love this new version of the intro theme
I been following your channel almost a decade dude - im glad to see you didn't just stick around but hit the upgrade button with a hammer many times - good shit man
This game made me buy a PS4. It was definately worth it.
YEEEES I'm so glad you give the "do a flip" bit the love it deserves
12:37 Insert Goofy yell.
😂😂 12:38 Had Me Dying of Laughter!! 👌🏾💯 Goofey Scream
Who knew Taskmaster was good at human soccer.
SHOCKKEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Also I predict the next marathon is a handheld Zelda marathon or something
One of my favorite superhero game ever.
This game is just everything you could want out of a Spider-Man game.
RIP Futon.
Died under the gurff of Elliots non-ass
I’m just glad you played his Marvel vs Capcom theme in the background
The reward you get for beating the game is worth
But man the scorpion acid trip fight is a great display of voice acting
Also: *Yuri has never killed anyone*
Agree! I watch 4 times! I never knew you watched the movie? 2:47 I always seem to trust your judgment (and Elliot and Matt as well) ever since I was 11 years old. Almost 18 now and I find myself watching you guy's on regular basis everyday. Does that mean I have no life? No, I'm breathing so I do have one.
Fantastic review as always John 👍, your literally my favorite video game reviewer on RUclips.
A Johnny video on my 21st birthday, and it’s Spider-Man, too! Bless you, Johnny.

Another of your incredible reviews just in time for my birthday~ Absolutely perfect timing lol
Yuri Lowenthall actually voices Marth which is great
And Sasuke Uchiha
And Cecil in FF4
And Alucard!
and Luke
And Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4. Lets just say he is in a lot. Also I will say, Yuri is hands down the best voice actor for Spider Man in my opinion.
The pigeon chases are actually really good to test your web swinging. Those guys go in so many directions and can turn on a dime. I had to really learn the web swinging if I wanted to catch them.
Dang Johnny, a little late to the party this one.
I'm kidding, but in all seriousness this is the best Superhero to come out since the Arkham trilogy!
I just hope we can play as Miles Morales in the sequel!
@MasterStryfe I'm sorry, but what do you mean?
@MasterStryfe Miles isn't a knock-off, he's his own character; if you don't believe me, try reading his current comic run or watching Into the Spiderverse. Miles is so much more than just "Black Spiderman".
@MasterStryfe What are you saying? None of that has ever happened in his comics.
Spiderman has been my favorite super hero since I got into heroes, and when you start the game and find out doc ock is your mentor, it made me very excited. Like you know hes gonna go bad but you cant help but start to look up to him
Spectacular Spiderman is a fantastic series! I'd argue that it's the Marvel equivalent of Batman the animated series. It was so well done!
(Hey Johnny has a Lilac deco!)
Nah, i think that would be x-men. I would compare it more to teen titans (original, obviously) or young justice.
@@Sophie_the_Sapphic I sadly never watched Young Justice so I can't compare it. :(
@@kyburn6195 well you should, it actually has the same showrunner as spectacular Spider-Man and it really shows. That's probably also why it's one of the best animated dc shows i've ever seen. And there's even a pretty great reference to his time with the web head. Anyway It's great and you should check it out.
@@Sophie_the_Sapphic well now I have a new series to watch! Thanks!
Reply 5,
5:40 the fantastic bagger is a reference to how in a comic Spider-Man was at the Fantastic 4 tower and didn’t have a costume so Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) gave him a lunchbag and F4 costume to wear.
I have been waiting so long for this
It’s my B day! Lets GO! Take a shot every time you hear
“Web slinger”
Congrats on the 300k bro u deserve it.
12:38 lmao!!!!
I love the fact that the guy that played Spider-Man/Peter Parker also played teenage Ben 10/Ben Tennyson.
Looking through his videos around 7 years ago, he did videos on NES Castlevania, Metroid, and Resident Evil. My money's on either a Resident Evil marathon, or like you said, Pokemon.
@@coolcomment8 Resident Evil WOULD make sense... But at the same time, I'm inclined to think that he would have done spiderman/KH3, THEN the RE2 remake to start off the marathon in a more fitting way
@@vivilover9409 True. I think Johnny mentioned that he reviewed RE2 since capcom sent a review copy. Otherwise, it would have been part of a RE marathon.
@@coolcomment8 ohhh, right! Forgot about that
I was gonna take a nap after coming home from work, but that can wait, because it's Johnny time.
I need to play this game :D
"It's nothing that the Arkham games haven't done already."
THE PAIN! THE PAIN OF THE IGNORANCE-
I love ya Johnny, but please...do a Spider-marathon or something, if you knew how much history you're missing out on, you'd be kicking yourself-
While run of the mill, I think they really sold the story. Knowing that Octavious was going to be the main antagonist just made his friendship with Peter so much harder to watch (in a good way.)
Also, I get why you didn't like the weird pauses between story missions, but personally I loved them. It created a nice bit of breathing room where you had an excuse to go do some side missions. And it just felt very... Spider-Man, you know? Swing around, chill, look for a fight to get into.
Wow! Didn't expect the Spiderman Cartoon Maker to get a mention! My friend and I had all kinds of immature fun with that back in the day!
ARE WE GETTING A DEVIL MAY CRY MARATHON?!
"you're in for a world of hurt!"
~Taskmaster, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
I just want to know what he thinks of spider-man Ps1.
Nice job explaining the lore of Spider Man without trying to marathon the game. It sucks that us XBox user can't get the hands-on experience, this would've been easily my top favorite Spider Man games of all time. Everything about the game looks so beautiful and there are more creative ways to utilize his powers.
If I had played this, I would gotten and used the Iron Spider Suit that has the 4 cyber arms coming out of it.
Edit: I did purchase a PS4 and I really enjoyed this game, like I thought I would. Also my favorite outfit was the Iron Spider suit but I later wore the Hybrid suit, both I’ve equipped the Spider Arms along with them too.
Just finished 100%ing it and got the platinum trophy for it
"If I have to hear the word photobomb again, I'm gonna kick a fucking toddler".
The moment that I gave this video a thumbs up.
You could say this game really makes you FEEL like you can do whatever a Spider can 😁👌
