I wish I lived in your neighborhood, I would have trailed off behind you to those sales!!! 😂 TFS!
Child, you are panning too fast and making me dizzy!!
I did love going with you! ❤
Sales that say everything must go make me laugh! To myself I say, then everything needs to be 90% off cuz I ain’t paying these prices.
I like the Neanderthal bust ~I think he just stepped on a Lego
The backyard with the mosaics belongs to my old elementary school teacher!!! She is a very talented folk artist, and that piece is called the "Great Wall of China"! So cool to see this randomly pop up in your video!
This is 100% me when I'm antique shopping:
"Are you sure you want that? It's damaged..."
"It's tEN dOLLars!"
The wood carving with the figure leaning forward in despair is Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth), or possibly one of the disciples sitting on the wooden cross before he is crucified. Very powerful image!
You chose some wonderful pieces, as always, Drew! 💜
That wood carving is a heart breaking picture of Jesus before he was hung on the cross. In this carving he knew what was happening to him.😢
The matchstick art is also called Tramp art or prison art.
The 'standing nedlepoint art thingie' is a fire screen. Probably victorian, but that is just a guess. It sits near one's chair at fireside and the 'shield' moves up or down to shield their face from getting too much of the heat.:-) Thanks for aharing your trip with us!
Yep! Specifically so the lady’s make up (which back, then actually have wax in it), wouldn’t melt for the heat!
So cool to learn how to use the fire shield.
@@christinewilliams1755 came on here to say the exact same thing :D
Hi, how do you tell if items that look vintage were recently mass produced to look that way in China?
@@marylut6077 You get to learn after many years of looking. If they want it to look old, they will make it that way. Also, Vintage is a word being very misused lately... vintage rug (the ones that look like bleach has been spilt and rubbed - most probably has0 are not old and some vloggers are buying them and presenting them as old, but they are are months old, not years. Lone Fox collaborated with a lady, cant remember her name now, Dr .......? and she was good giving advice. I would recommend watching people like her to get a list of things to look for and 'the eye'
17:47 MaCenna would love that painting! Especially for her cottage
3:38 so glad we got to meet you in person! We love your videos. They’re so inspiring! Hope to see you around at another estate sale or flea in the future!
Ahhh you two were so much fun! I’m sure we will be seeing much more of each other 🤎🤎
Hey it’s you!!!😊
Hey Drew-the needlepoint shield is actually a fire shield to keep the heat of a fireplace off of a lady’s face. These were amazing estate sales!
@lonefox can Justin give us a home tour???? I bet he has awesome stuff!! 😍
I really liked the wooden piece that you found of Jesus that’s before he was going to get crucified when they nailed his feet 😢 to the cross. I wish I could have that it’s very unique.
The wood piece looks like Jesus sitting on the cross to me. Many lovely pieces!
I was thinking the same thing about the carved wooden piece.
Take this however you want, but being retired from buying and Selling antiques and vintage for over 35 years, I love to watch your enthusiasm. I am glad I only do treasure seeking for myself these days, its getting harder and harder to find an incredible deal…but kudos to lone fox for finding some incredible finds to share with us. The best part when you’re looking for vintage items for yourself, is being able to take your time, find the special item that can work for you specifically. My advice is, always go with the thing you never have questions about, if you love it, you’ll always find a special place for it.
Always be prepared 😮😮😮h
4:33 the painting of the girl with green eyes was UNBELIEVABLE wow she was GORGEOUS
5:22 the carving of Jesus getting nailed to the cross has me TORN, the gashes all over his body that He bore for US, as He weeps, ughhhh such a good piece, probably carved on the same kind of wood as His cross. YESSSS YOU GOT IT!!! I WOULD CRY MY EYES OUT EVERY DAY (greek and roman would also be accurate just as religious, that's our Lord and Savior) 12:16
Amazing estate sales, the art at the first place was overwhelming almost! That wood plaque carving of the figure with his head on his knees looks like Jesus sitting up from the cross in grief - look at the background, is that a cross he's sitting on? You got some great finds, my favorite is that marble bowl and the oil of the children.
The cross stitch is a sampler done by a little girl more then likely preteen to practice their needle point. Many had the names age and year it was done on it.
The oil painting of the children and the matchstick portrait of the boat are definitely my favourites. Great eye, 😊.
The horizontal oil painting that you had Justin stand in front of for scale was exquisite. Whoever purchased that is one lucky individual!!!
Hi Drew, great finds i'm almost sure the wood carving is Jesus sitting on the cross.
The oil painting of the children looks nice. That was my favourite piece from this haul.
I'm here for the spooky face. Please keep vlogging your treasure hunts! I love seeing what calls to each person. 😊
I'm Dominican and we call that type of mortar and pestle a "pilón" (pronounced pee-loUn). It's used to make sazón. It's used the same way as a mortar and pestle but it has higher walls cause we use lots of different ingredients to make seasoning. 😅
I’m puertorican and we use it to make mofongo!!
Ahhh thank you so much for this insight!
I love learning new information in the comments.
And it's not primitive :)
Drew, Don’t worry about that face that was super cool, I wouldn’t turn it backwards let the face show unique is what makes it cool
I'm surprised you didn't bring home the stone floor lamp. You found some treasures for sure!
I absolutely LOVE when you go on shopping trips. Especially estate sales, flea markets, thrift stores. The BIGGER the haul, the BETTER! You have a KEEN eye for great pieces!
The last painting would be great in a guest bedroom or a bathroom.
I'm having a very shit day and this is like a hug, feels like hanging out with a friend, thanks for the quality content you always put out!
The needle point sheild on a stand, you may already know, but ladies used to have them near firesides to sheild their faces from getting red from the fire 🔥
Ahh!! This is so interesting :)
@@lonefox ❤️ you just need to know a lady from the 1800s. Fyi, not me. Not quite that old lol!
I may be the only one, but I really like the scary head bronze sculpture. It is incredibly interesting. I can totally see it sitting on your bookshelf. 😊
I love the “spooky face”! You did good. The candle holders and pictures are very cool. Thanks for taking us along.
Homes of the rich and famous estate sales are a must for. Recycling .
Dang, I wish the estate sales in our area were half this amazing.
I hope you told Macenna! She would love those frames at the estate sale 😅
Ohh I called her from the sale 😅
Was going to comment the same and I saw urs... 😂😂😂
lol we know she loved that first one
the bronze man sculpture is incredible!!
That painting by George Harvey was done in about 1806. It was sold at Auction in April of this year.
I LOVE estate sales I've been to hundreds!
People often ask if I'm afraid of buying haunted stuff which is so silly. I always tell them I'm buying unwanted items that will have a long life with me and I will adore every piece I buy. I always find unique items that are no longer even made anymore. Its wonderful for my home because I live in a 1960s - 1970s time capsule. ❤
Great haul! The bronze death mask is really striking, and the religious carved wooden/? picture is stunning--I'd love to know more about it--So many things to research.
By the way, I'm loving my brutalist Moses!
Some really nice pieces there, Drew, but what I most enjoy is your enthusiasm and willingness to enjoy new things.
Beautiful blue vase, candle holders, wood etching! The bronze mask reminds me of a character from a Greek play…🙏🥰💃🏻
The artwork at that 1st sale! Amazing.
Your excitement and joy is infectious! 🩵
Agree with you on that lovely painting of the children, love its colors and mood, as well as the frame on it. Looks like it belongs with your vase/magnolia stems corner. Gorgeous finds Drew and Justin!
The mask thing looks like someone wanted to immortalize the pained expression of their enemy 😂
Drew in an estate sales is like us going to the dollar store and getting everything even if we don’t need them 😂
Love the mortal and pestel , the blue vase, bowls, and paintings !
The lamp thingy could be used for so many things. You could use it on a high shelf as an ornament. Doing it on a high shelf, you wouldn't see the fitting for the cord. You could use it as a stand for something like the marble bowl.
Loved all of your purchases.
Love the spooky face! Right there with you.
Patiently waiting on Marie’s room makeover😆
Imagine the 'creepy' cast bronze bust turned around with a small votive placed on the wood casting light into the relief of the face!!! Yes! So cool.
The mounted mask would be amazing if a bulb was adapted behind it as a console light, great shadows!!
Thank you for sharing your Estate Sale shopping adventure with us, Drew. The painting of the children is my favourite piece and they almost look three dimensional.
The oil painting of the children is lovely, great find. ❤ Adelaide Australia
Would LOVE to have seen more of those paintings from the first sale! I think you were out of your element (which is fine). You sure are drawn to wood! Was surprised you bought the Greek looking mask sculpture; more serious than many would want to live with, but it was interesting. The painting of the children was absolutely nothing I would want, as others we got a glimpse of were so much better, IMO. Was that matchstick thing $100?? It might have historic value(?) My favorite by far, was the deep blue vase! On that we can agree ;)
Sometimes when looking at stuff we forget to look at the tables & things the stuff is on. We went to a very picked over sale & they had stuff on an outdoor bistro table. Asked if it was for sale & shocked to hear them say OH YES!! They forgot to mark it. Got it for $10.
Wow! I saw some really good art on the walls. Not bargain art but exceptional quality.
What cool things you found! I think the bronze face would look good on a bookshelf. The pic of the children is the most my personal style. I can see MaCenna loving that pic in her house.
Love the candle holders and the matchstick art! If you don't end up using the mask, you could always take it off its base and give it to Justin for his mask wall.
Ahhh so very true! That would be a fun addition :)
It's a good Halloween piece.
That mask reminds me of John the Baptist head on a platter! 😮
I think it's a death mask😮
@@margaretwilliams3137That was my thought too.
OMG Drew your mother must be so proud of you on a more specific note that Greek style bust of that man that you didn't think anybody would really like when I first looked at it you were right I didn't like it but it's very unique if you just tilt it slightly from side to side the expression on his face changes and it makes it a very cool and unique piece you have a very keen eye please keep shopping thanks so much for sharing see you next time😊
Lots of great finds! The round box with the bark exterior is beautiful. The art of inlaid wood on the top is called marquetry. Scenes like that are often copies of landscape or cityscape paintings, often German, French or Italian.
So inspired by Drews finds. Admittedly, what looks like a death mould/mask is a little too creepy for my liking. George Harvey has a magical way of playing with light in his paintings, that find is quite lovely.
I’m so dead at Drew falling in love with the carving of Jesus lolololololol
I laughed so hard when you said "some of you are going to say Drew take that back". Probably because I have one similar to it. I've been trying to research it for a while before listing it. Great haul, it's always fun going shopping with you.
the bronze face sculpture ..... the best piece ever .... i have a round ceramic head sculpture with an open scary mouth that i found in a random place in Varanasi that i truly love .. so maybe it is my thing ... we don't have estate sales here .. kinda sad .. so living vicariously through you XX
I love when you go thrift or estate sale shopping. I think the one art piece that you referred to as fireworks is Lilly pads that are blooming on a pond! You showed us some really beautiful pieces. Great video! The house is looking so beautiful!
It reminds me of his Hair Inspo- kind of like a chrysanthemum firework bouquet gone-wild. I thought it looked so similar when he held it near his face! ; ) He was twinning with his omni-directional Art.
What great finds! I love going shopping with you, Drew! My neighbour and I went yard-sale-ing this Saturday too and we had such a great time and came home with some really great finds. I so enjoyed this weekend trip with you! I can go without spending any money! LOL!
Oh gosh Drew you found some really awesome things at those estate sales, your whole house has just some really cool things that I love seeing when you post a new video. Thanks again for another really awesome video and I wish you a restful rest of your day, sending love and hugs, bye! 😂😍🤗👋👍✌💜💜💜
Love your taste in all the art you chose!!! Loved your interpretations also, which brings more meaning to to all the pieces
In the olden days in different parts of Africa the little pestel and mortar was used in a bigger version to grind dried corn. The corn was dried the grinded using that to make what we call mealie meal.we use mealie meal to make a basic staple we call pap which is an everyday staple for all our meals
Omg the estate sale is an art lovers dream come true! Great finds. The cast bronze ugly man sculpture is creepy and I love it. Lol
Thanks for addressing the fiberglass. Many mattress makers use other names on the tag to disguise rather than the word fiberglass. It is rare to see the information on the tags listed in sales information, so that needs to be required prior to sale for all mattress products.
Do you know the other names they use instead of fibreglass?
@@rumdo5617 Fiberglass may also be listed under other commonly used names, like glass-reinforced plastic, glass-fiber reinforced plastic, glass fiber, glass wool, or fiberglass-reinforced plastic.
@@patticurry565 Thank you very much - I am just about to buy a new mattress 🙏
The top of a lamp is a HARP. A HEARTH is the floor/area in front of a fireplace.
You were so excited. I have never gotten so dizzy watching one of your videos. So happy you found all those great treasures.
The figurine you are wondering about is Jesus sitting on his cross.
Sad no one could tell that was Jesus.
That's what I thought!🙏
He did say his first guess was that it was religious
Yes, resting on the way to His crucifixion.
@@breeanne1974
Based on the comments, ppl obviously could tell.
I love estate sale even if you don’t find decor it’s great for tools, dishes, pot and pans! Great for people just starting out.
Well those are the first estate sales I’ve watched on RUclips and I watched a few where I actually saw so many things that I like.
The curly candle stick holders and the wood two tone frame are my favorites so far.
Wow what awesome unique items you picked up. The art pieces are beautiful, MaCenna would have gone crazy at the art sale. Love the carved wood pieces, my favorite 😊👍
I foresee your next obsession! Love estate sales! It’s like the greatest treasure hunt for adults. Patience, vision and google are the best partners for treasure hunts.
❤
Lucky you, that there wasn’t an enormously long long line with numbers you have to choose or a list you have to put yourself on, and people pushing and elbowing you to get in! Agreed the estate sale experience is the greatest place to find a treasure, just hoping you are able to find the experience as low key as lone fox did. ❤️
It should be illegal!! You look TOO amazing to just have awaken!!!❤😂
Thanks, Drew. That was fun. The only time I ever go anywhere interesting is when you go shopping.
Love your enthusiasm! Drew at an estate sale is like a kid in a candy store😅. Glad you found some treasures.
I love watching you & Justin finding deals! 👏👏👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰
Holy cow Drew!! That first Estate sale was AMAZING! That said, all of the sales were great, and I would have gone home with a haul and a half!! (Broke, but oh so happy!!) LOVE what you brought home!!
I love estate sales. When I moved into my present home I found loads of furniture and decor items for it. I still go occasionally if it looks like a really good one. I live in Texas and the prices here are generally much better.
I love so much of what you found! Also, I'm pretty sure the wood carving is Jesus sitting on a cross. If you google that, there's some really similar paintings.
I love when antiques paintings have rips! I think it totally gives it interest!
I too, thought you might call Macenna at that Estate sale! I love the oil painting of the children! It brought Macenna to mind! Amongst all of your treasures in this haul, this painting & the special little pitcher for your breakfast nook shelving, & the crafting wood lamp base were my favorites. I’d love to see your completion of that lamp! Way to go! 🦊
That estate sale with all of the paintings was amazing. I would have been in search of the fall landscaping paintings. Thanks for sharing your haul.
That bronze face is everything!
I love estate sales. I have a home in Florida and as you can guess there are many wonderful estate sales. My biggest find so far was 2 barcelona chairs and the matching ottoman for 350 dollars!
The relief of the horses is lovely and would be perfect in my home! When will you be putting it in your shop?
I’m a huge fan of your thrifting and estate sale videos 😊
I so enjoy your enthusiasm for all things retro and antique!
What a great haul!! That alabaster bowl though...
The wooden carving looks like Christ rising after the 3rd day. The cloth around Him would be the shroud.
Sheesh, Drew! You're gonna get me carsick moving that camera around like a rabbit! Bah ha ha ha! I am glad ya'll are having fun.
Woah I went to the same estate sale! I was also very into the vase at 5:18 until my sister told me it was likely a urn.
Drew! You should get with Baumgartner Restoration to repair the $10 painting! That would be an awesome collab. We never get to hear the customers' perspective in his process. And your painting will get be all patched up and preserved for years to come!
