People say that if the youtuber murder mystery came out today, they would've had Dream, are, in my humble opinion, entirely incorrect. Look at the youtubers they had then: it was all the safe ones, the ones who don't swear and keep things family friendly, no Yogscast or anything. Knowing that, it's far more likely that they would've gotten the likes of Grian, Mumbo, or any others from the Hermitcraft server.
That could be the case but they were all also some petty big RUclipsrs so you can’t really say for sure if it was popularity, kid friendlyness, or a combo of both
You know I think if Minecraft story mode came out now they would have still had the majority of the cameos the same because they are like the OGs but that's just what I think
Unfortunately, you’re absolutely wrong. A company like Minecraft would not hesitate to use their most popular creators in a game like this. As much as I hate dream, him and the rest of the DSMP would def have been given their own storyline if it was made today. Not to say they wouldn’t use the other creators you mentioned. But saying that they wouldn’t platform “non family friendly” creators is disingenuous.
Honestly, I really liked this game. Perhaps it’s just nostalgia but I do have fond memories of it. And, of course, the wither storm was an awesome monster and a really cool idea for the main antagonist of the first four episodes. That all being said, I also really enjoyed your review and I do agree that the writing is often flat and the characters somewhat boring but the game does have its own bit of unique charm. All in all, great video with great points. Keep it up!
@@itsgheb I hope so too. Even if it’s not the best game out there, it still deserves to be preserved. I guess I’m lucky enough to still have an original copy of the game for the Xbox 360.
Always consider the game like a movie, but a little bit more interactive. Whenever I think of it, like a Minecraft movie that I get to choose a few things in, I really enjoyed it!
Yeah I was fortunate enough to play both of them and genuinely enjoyed all the episodes of both of them unfortunately I don’t have my disks anymore but I genuinely wish I did so I could relive those memories
Personally I loved Story Mode and I think it's definitely quite the shame the company fell through. No matter if the writing was good or not, it was fun, a unique experience, and a fond memorie.

The thing I love about this game is how much it reminds me of how me and my friends just roleplaying different stories we can come up with in Minecraft back in the day. Sure roleplaying and shit like that sounds cringe, but now that all my friends back in the day are either busy with their life now, or I just have no contact with them anymore, I just cant help but be fond of those happy memories even if its cringe.
@@mr.keleton9710exactly. i feel like when people think of roleplaying, furry roleplays just pop in their mind even though roleplays are not limited to furries and other garbage. you can pretty much do what you want with roleplays, and like you said, actors acting is considered a roleplay.
ngl I like how they're animated to fit the minecrafty style for silly moments, and overall, how their faces are animated like a stop-motion rather than stretching their faces like most minecraft fan animations. They have never been able to keep the blocky pixel style and animate them properly, so I appreciate what telltale was able to come up with, even if the mouth movements seemed off at times. (I think they improved on this in season 2)
I disagree. Minecraft characters shouldn't bend their limbs whatsoever and their faces hasn't really aged that well and looks kinda uncanny. I think the official animation style from Mojang's trailers would've worked better...
I never played the OG game, but do have nostalgic memories due to the Netflix version.I DO really like the story, but the music is immaculate (even though they didn't use the Minecraft OST). In particular, the Wither Storm's theme SLAPS SO HARD, and still gives me chills to this day.
I think most people love it (including me) because it is a childhood classic. Its one of those games you play as a kid, forget it existed, and once you remember, you're probably obsessed with it for a while. The story and everything appealed very well to the younger age groups.
That’s my issue with people who analyze old games they haven’t played. They analyze the game like it was made in 2024 and forget that the game was made for kids almost a decade ago
I've never actually played the game but loved it through watching people's gameplay. I loved it so much, my 10-year-old self made Petra my nickname because she was my favourite character. I kinda forgot about it for a couple years and rediscovered it semi-recently and looking back, the story isn't all that good. I don't have a reason to like it as much as I did. The fan content was funny, with the endless debate between people shipping Jesse with Petra or Lukas (or Romeo, for some reason). The game had good ideas with mediocre execution.
When i played this game i already was very familiar with minecraft and it was sure a peculiar experience, in the start i didnt really like it, but as the story progressed i started kinda liking it, it wasnt something like regular minecraft but it had its own weird charm, the wither storm was something so cool tho, and as the story progressed the adventure was kinda engaging, in the end it was pretty weird and i definetly cant say it was incredible, sometimes it was kinda good, and other times it was so bad its good, and often it was just bad, and i can completly understand that u dont like it, i didnt like it at first, and i dont know exactly my opinion now. Really good video, when i found this channel i was surprised at how small it was, the editing and scripts are incredible.
I bought both seasons (all episodes) after watching the Netflix ones. I always thought it was really fun. On Netflix at least, it was their best and first interactive series, and the choices always meant something. It was also pretty funny and had interesting characters, worlds, and story. I don’t care if people say it was poorly written or the characters were cringe, because that show was a good part of my childhood XD I still have the DVDs and I like to play it sometimes. MCSM is so nostalgic
I wish that we had one more game from Minecraft story mode I think that it is a good game, and sure, someone did say it is “more of a Minecraft fan story than one that takes place in the Minecraft universe” and I agree, but I think it did it quite well It definitely gets better as it goes on, maybe it’s just nostalgia, but I like most of it
The soundtrack issue was actually Microsoft's fault: When MC was bought back in 2014 after 1.8, C418 did not want to work with Microsoft, since it has a history of being very predatory with copyright. They basically said that any music he made for them would be owned by Microsoft, and he didn't want that, so he left. It wasn't a grand conspiracy or anything, just Corporations being shitty as normal.
This Game didn’t really contribute much to Telltale’s Downfall. This is ironically one of Telltale’s only profitable games if comparing the sales and distribution even if it is extremely flawed
To me it felt like a big issue with this game was it not knowing how closely it wanted to stick to Minecraft rules, and when it made sense to. Its like every scene was written by a different team, some of whom went "We will be sticking to actual Minecraft game logic whenever and wherever possible" and another that went "We'll do it when its a funny gag" so no moment in the game feel consistent. Like you said, it feels like the characters have short term memory loss "Oh, I forgot in this moment ANY other player would just do X". Its like they couldnt decide if they wanted to appeal to their established fans, or Minecrafts established fans, and then did neither
I feel like if they made a new Minecraft story mode-esc game with the artstyle they use in the animated Minecraft Live segments, it would already be a lot better since it would at least have a concrete connection and basis from the base Minecraft game.
Season 2s choices have far better outcomes for which ones a player chose and here are some examples. At one point in the game you character and a side character are dangling from a cliff and slipping and then some random people come by and offer to help but only if you give them your weapons and if you choose not to then you and the side character fall and get split from the rest of the group and have to regroup later. But it doesn’t stop there because in the same episode you get ambushed by some ninja character who believes your an imposter Jessie and if you fell you have your sword and could beat him in combat making him realize only Jessie could fight like that or lose and need to persuade him that you are Jessie. Or the other outcome is that you don’t fall but lose your weapons but on the bright side your still with the group and can continue on until the ninja ambush where he bests you because your unarmed where you need to convince him your Jessie. Even for the ending it can end differently at least for a character. When you defeat the big bad you’re given a choice to either leave him in a place that will kill him in a matter of minutes or take him so he can face the consequences of his actions. If you leave him, he just dies. If you take him he’ll either sacrifice himself so the player and the rest of the group can make it out or if you did certain choices in the previous episode another side character will come charging through with unintentional help and get the villain out alive. Even characters appearance can change like in the first 2 chapters or so your given a choice to save someone’s sword or help someone get up from a railing or something and if you choice the get the sword the guy will fall giving him an eyepatch for the rest of the game but if you save him the character who the sword belonged to will just have some random iron sword or something. There is also at some point your given a choice to make a promise with a character which you can either promise or not promise you’ll do something and episodes later the choice will be given again and you’ll be given the choice to either keep or break the promise(if you made it) or another option. It has been a long time since I played the game and I’ve left out some details to not go into major spoils if you want to play the game in the future. I liked season 2 more than season 1 in many different ways so I definitely recommend to play it if you get the chance to because from what I can remember it was an enjoyable game.
I loved this game, and whenever I think about it, I get a wave of nostalgia. Also the wither storm theme slaps. Change my mind. Or, at least it is really good at building tension.
i got the season pass disk for my ps3 christmas one year which included episodes 1-5. 6-8 were not included, and even worse, they didn't even show the last 3 episodes on the menu until ep5 dropped. if i remember correctly the box even says it includes "all 5 episodes." and neither i nor my mom knew we could buy them digitally so i never got to play the last 3 episodes. that is why i do not feel sympathy for telltale shutting down.
I honestly forgot this game existed. I just now remember that I once played this game after it came out. Episode one, and two, I believe. And then I forgot about it entirely.
I think this is the second game I’ve ever played, when I was 5 and it is probably one of my favorite games mainly because of how ridiculously nostalgic it is for me and the music. Honestly one of my favorite soundtracks
This game was amazing. I personally liked both seasons, but Season 1 more than Season 2. So many hard choices, sad moments, funny moments, and it was something I can relate to. I was 9 years old when I first played MCSM, and now I’m 17.
Back when Story Mode was teased, I was all in. Together with a mate I went nuts about how cool it would be to see why Steve is in this strange world, where he came from. I was excited to see an epic stranding on the coast, where you need to get up and find your way. We were imagining it to be something like an adventure map but from Mojang themselves, heavily focusing on a story. We got something else. Not that bad, but not really minecraft. I dunnow, maybe it's just me but I would love for Minecraft games to be INSIDE of Minecraft
The himbo being voiced by Octus' VA really just makes me want to recommend watching Sym Bionic Titan. He plays a much better Himbo in that... he's also a robot...
i’ve been collecting games for years but minecraft story mode 2 for Switch somehow became one of my most valuable games by pure chance. this is my legacy
A big reason why I'm not too bugged by things that'd be plot holes given how people play minecraft (IE, digging into a wall and waiting for day so zombies burn) is because I'm not so much seeing it from the PoV of people who have played Minecraft before, I'm seeing it from the PoV of people who live inside of it and only have 1 life or they die forever. I don't think everyone would learn all of the nooks and cranny's of the game's mechanics if it puts their life at risk- as a civilian. In fact, there's a good video by antvenom that goes into how Minecraft's Hardcore mode is actually pretty cheap in that It's easy to learn how to do direct challenges, but soooo easy to just die out of no where, in a way that there's nothing you can do about it. I think one'd be understandibly hessitant to do some of the gamer(tm) strats that we know in Minecraft until (after) one actually gets accustomed to living the hero/adventurer life. Those zombies and skeletons aren't just robotic mobs working on a fixed program, They are dangerous creatures, who can kill you. Do you wanna really wait in a hole all night, and risk getting shot in the neck by a skeleton who was sitting in the shade or blown by an unseen creeper?
The reason that they don't have any music from Minecraft's soundtrack is that Mojang does not own the rights to it. The composer, C418, owns the songs that he wrote. They have replaced him recently and own the rights to the new songs written by different composers.
When I was a kid I’d watch RUclipsrs play it and I LOVED IT. Definitely wouldn’t find it interesting now but when I was younger I was really invested in the story
You should honestly do a video about season 2, i feel telltale really tried with their writing on the plot for this one and especially the plot twists and the fight scenes that were 10x better than the first season.
3:13 My MC at home ears perked up at "happened within their own private server". Can you point me towards the source of that info? It could lead to footage/screenshots of it that could be tied to finding the seed that minecraft story mode took place in.
There was a Gamasutra article that I found on the Wiki page for this game. It's archived, but you can still read it. They don't go into too much detail other than that they had their own server where they experimented in and documented everything
I personally agree to everything you said. The story had its highs and lows and was inconsistent and the characters had very little if any personality. The concepts of the story I felt was so cool but quite let down in terms of execution where the small scenes which complete the story were inconcsistent. The graphics and music was something I really loved though. Although nothing great I really liked it. The lack of freedom pisses me off but as you said I get that in a free game like Minecraft when condensed into a playthrough cannot be interesting if all you had to do was break a few blocks and build a bridge or something. Great potential and great game really but quite let down with some parts and scenes. Would like to see your opinion on s2 as that really fixed some of s1's critical flaws. Note that both seasons are not fully consistent with each other as s2 is happening after a long time since s1. Great vid keep it up my guy.
Ok, so small known thing, if you mistreat Lukas throughout basically the ENTIRE game, he leaves for the last fight and softlocks where he would normally save you or something. It's a very SMALL but cool addition.
Story Mode's openning speech is *perfect.* It can be used in almost any genre and format. From a movie to short film to 8bit game to FPS. Its only let down by the dialogue and story being *too safe.* Had they taken more risks, Increased the variety of outcomes with serious consequenses, with a tad bit better storyline, game could be far greater. Most ideas were interesting. A group of legends lying to entire world, The old leader creating something that physically shouldnt exist *and* use it? An old member of the group being erased from history due to ideological differences? A coward portraying as a brave warrior? A hallway of interdimensional gateways that take you to different worlds? Villain having noble intentions but terrible approach due to paranoia caused by past experiences? All of them are great. But like I said, the starting speech by narattor is awesome. ''Every legend no matter how great, fades with time. With each passing year more and more details are lost. Until all that remains are myths, Half-truths.. To put it simply; lies.'' You can slap this on Mortal Kombat, on Call of Duty, On FUCKING SIMS 4 and it would still increase the game's point by sheer influence.
i love Minecraft Storymode and i agree with most of what you said... season 2 is much more fleshed out so i think you'd enjoy that game a lot more, the fights, the puzzles, and the choices are Much much better. MC SM will always hold a special place in my heart. i remember when Dantdm first played the game an i was so interested in the game an the story, man i really miss the good ol'days of jus watching youtube an playing minecraft as a kid.
As someone who never played this game and only watched it on YT, I love it. From what I remember, I love the characters and visuals. The Order of the Stone is sick, I love the Wither Storm, Petra is pretty cool. Not to mention, I love the Murder Mystery Episode
With Soren's enderman maybe a lot of them didn't get hurt, and Soren had to know they would teleport when hurt so I think that's a good enough explanation, with Petra I got nothing, maybe it could be characterization? But yeah, it's filled with stuff like that
When the delisting first happened I rushed fast to get the complete digital steam copy of Season 2 from g2a before the price hiked up. It was always something planned to get, but had not until then. The wonderful thing about steam copy is I can still play the entirety of the game to this day
I actually thought you were somewhat generous. I luckily only watched someone play it online and didn't buy it, but there is a YT series that literally shows that you can almost beat this while game completely AFK.
from what im aware, this game started a small underground community of fans of it trying to recreate it in minecraft, or at least do what communites do and use it to MAKE something fun biggest thing is the witherstorm, exactly as it is in story mode, getting modded fully into the main game, with even more ideas in the future
I remember taking my cash i received from family members and going into Gamestop to buy this game when i was younger. I should’ve known as a kid I wouldn’t like it when the gamestop employee told me not to buy it 😂
When I was a kid I really wanted to play the game. I don’t really know what happened but after the 4th episode I feel off but went back to it when season 2 was releasing
The game is still playable on steam with no problems. Idk if all the chapters are available but I played it till Chapter 6 I think in November last year.
The sad thing is that the game underperformed in sales but was only their second game after Walking Dead Season 1 to make any money. All their other projects lost the company money.
crap "choices" if it was released today it would be destroyed , but I would kill for it to come back. It felt like it had some character? or maybe that's just nostalgia talking. edit: the only reason I think I want it to come back is so I can laugh at it. also character wasn't the right word the word is passion it had a lot of passion to the players and the culture of Minecraft itself.
my favorite memory was being able to play the first episode for free on my tablet then also realizing i never heard of telltale before and i heard so much good stuff about them while this game was upcoming just to be like.. huh. why are these devs so popular?
Tbh I loved a lot of the characters. I love the chemistry the characters have together in this band of misfits. Ivor and Petra are possibly my favorite, considering Petra is the same voice actress as Ellie from TLOU.
To be honest as a person who has a notagic feeling for minecraft story mode I couldn't agree more. S1 was kind board espically E6, the only epsoide I felt was actually intense was probaly E7, but S2 was 10x better; there was actually good combat, choices had more of an effect, and the storyline was great, also voice acting improved. In S2 they learn from most of there mistakes. Also I suggest using pirating for S2 that what I did to play again because I'm broke. I could give you they google drive that I used to get S2?
"When there's an OST of over 100 tracks/songs, there's bound to be some forgettable pieces." I see your point, but there's always Blue Archive that's spitting out bangers.
I remember watching my fav RUclipsrs play the episodes as they came out, and it was always super exciting! Tbh I think a lot of the issue with this game is that it was obviously aimed at kids, but its episodic nature made it very expensive to play at the time, and confusing for parents to buy for their kids.
13:00 the reason none of the iconic Minecraft sounds are in this game is because Mojang, nor Microsoft, own the rights to it. When it was an indie game, the music, while commissioned for the game, was licensed to Mojang, not owned, and Microsoft couldn’t make deal with the original composer who wanted to maintain the rights to his music.
Minecraft story mode is one of the games that I never had the chance to buy in its entirety and I wish I had tried harder too. I love the game and wish it was still available to buy.

06:05 That is not quite true. If you have purchased the game on steam, you can still downlaod and play it to this day.
Interesting. I saw a blogpost on the official Minecraft website saying that it would not be possible. Maybe it's something that is only affecting consoles. Thanks for the info.

Dude mcsm was my childhood (and my hyperfixation for 4 years) I remember always hyping up all the trailers for the new eps and being so happy for s2 being announced. Looking back now, yea the plot for s1 was kinda shit and only was getting good from ep 6-8. Another thing is the fandom. The fans are genuinely p chill. Back then it was pretty big and it kinda had fans that would bully ppl if u criticized it. Now the fandom is just really small and know its not that good but make awsome art and stories! Tho overall i had a fun time w mcsm and would recommend the 2nd season bc i actually gets p good!
I had all of season 1 on my ps3 and when my parents would leave for work I would plug it into the big tv in the living room during summer break. I also had a wired controller at the time so my dog tripped over the wire while I was playing the game and it fell from wear it was which was pretty high but thankfully didnt break. That moment is what i think of when I remember minecraft story mode
Craziest thing, if you bought season 1 and 2 on steam years ago, you can still download and play it on PC from your library, it’s the only reason why I still have access to both seasons, even though I’ll never play it other than if I wanna do a meme stream for my discord friends
21:42 Sure Minecraft RUclipsrs can be cringe, but to my knowledge they actually managed to pick the 6 of them that wound up not having any controversy around them. Especially StampyLongHead, who recently finished their Lovely World series.
I honestly think that both seasons of Minecraft storymode are amazing and its not just the dialog. Its the atmosphere the cool different mobs like the Prismerine solders things, the Prismerine giants, the weird Ice endermen, the the Magma golem and so many other mobs. And i don't think i really got bored with the game. Just the mix of atmosphere though and the places that you go to. Like the Farlands, the Portal episode's, and most of season 2.
I loved this game for years, despite its flaws. I was 11 when the game first came out, and was my biggest hyper fixation in middle school 😅 But here I am, 20 years old now and about half way through college. It’s insane to think this game is approaching its tenth year of its release now!
Not being able to download MCSM isn't exactly true, if you owned the steam edition before, you can easily download and play it since it's in your library
I loved playing Minecraft Story Mode, it's a very fun game and I would gladly play it again. And I liked the description you gave the whole story of the game. Also you missed the opportunity to take the Axel route where alot of chaos happens and it's quite fun and worthy of review. I think you should also try to get Season 2.
I remember playing this game, and i legit, LIVED IT SO MUCH I would pay 200 dollars to play this game again, and don't hate me. When Ruben died, i burst out crying, unlike the other people, apparently. I would die for season 3. It's, in my opinion, overhated+underated as shit. I liked the story and enjoyed the characters except for the ones you aren't meant to really like. I guess our opinions just dont match.. Happy New Year..
I really liked this game even if I only ever finished the first 4 episodes of season 1, and I was lucky enough to buy pre-owned physical copies of both season off of Amazon
Man i remember being a kid and thinking that this game is the coolest thing ever. I still have fond memories of course, but yeah, i agree with your concerns in the review.
I was hyped for Story Mode, I read the newspaper just to get the game for my old iPad and I loved it, even doing the Netflix version! It’s a fun game and I enjoyed the characters, especially Petra she’s witty and fun. Plus Rueben’s death was very sad, he was like the cutest little pig!

Roleplaying isn't cringe, it's like saying it's cringe for an actor to play a character
@@mr.keleton9710exactly. i feel like when people think of roleplaying, furry roleplays just pop in their mind even though roleplays are not limited to furries and other garbage. you can pretty much do what you want with roleplays, and like you said, actors acting is considered a roleplay.
I can't go into this unbiased, too much nostalgia. This game will forever be in my heart.
ngl I like how they're animated to fit the minecrafty style for silly moments, and overall, how their faces are animated like a stop-motion rather than stretching their faces like most minecraft fan animations.

@@price9670 yeah
I've never actually played the game but loved it through watching people's gameplay. I loved it so much, my 10-year-old self made Petra my nickname because she was my favourite character. I kinda forgot about it for a couple years and rediscovered it semi-recently and looking back, the story isn't all that good. I don't have a reason to like it as much as I did. The fan content was funny, with the endless debate between people shipping Jesse with Petra or Lukas (or Romeo, for some reason). The game had good ideas with mediocre execution.
Nah that ruiben death hurt my 9 year old soul.
yeah, looking back now its reall funny, but back then? bro i cried.
I honestly miss this game and still play it to this day, the memories i have of this for when it first came out were some of my favorites.
I bought both seasons (all episodes) after watching the Netflix ones. I always thought it was really fun. On Netflix at least, it was their best and first interactive series, and the choices always meant something. It was also pretty funny and had interesting characters, worlds, and story. I don’t care if people say it was poorly written or the characters were cringe, because that show was a good part of my childhood XD
I still have the DVDs and I like to play it sometimes. MCSM is so nostalgic
I wish that we had one more game from Minecraft story mode
I think that it is a good game, and sure, someone did say it is “more of a Minecraft fan story than one that takes place in the Minecraft universe” and I agree, but I think it did it quite well
It definitely gets better as it goes on, maybe it’s just nostalgia, but I like most of it
The soundtrack issue was actually Microsoft's fault: When MC was bought back in 2014 after 1.8, C418 did not want to work with Microsoft, since it has a history of being very predatory with copyright. They basically said that any music he made for them would be owned by Microsoft, and he didn't want that, so he left. It wasn't a grand conspiracy or anything, just Corporations being shitty as normal.
Exactly. That's why we got new music ever since 1.13 and why Steve didn't bring any of the classic music with him when he joined Smash Bros...
To this day any time someone mentions a beacon I say "A freaking beacon?!?!"
I think the only time i felt tense was trying to escape a giant enderman from voring me
This Game didn’t really contribute much to Telltale’s Downfall.

This game was amazing. I personally liked both seasons, but Season 1 more than Season 2. So many hard choices, sad moments, funny moments, and it was something I can relate to. I was 9 years old when I first played MCSM, and now I’m 17.
My favorite episodes were the dlc ones that came out in the end I loved the self contained story’s
The history that you study to present to us is so fun and cool.
Even with the flaws, this game will remain part of my childhood
Back when Story Mode was teased, I was all in. Together with a mate I went nuts about how cool it would be to see why Steve is in this strange world, where he came from. I was excited to see an epic stranding on the coast, where you need to get up and find your way. We were imagining it to be something like an adventure map but from Mojang themselves, heavily focusing on a story.
We got something else. Not that bad, but not really minecraft. I dunnow, maybe it's just me but I would love for Minecraft games to be INSIDE of Minecraft
That's what I hope the Minecraft movie will be
The himbo being voiced by Octus' VA really just makes me want to recommend watching Sym Bionic Titan. He plays a much better Himbo in that... he's also a robot...

The irony of the background music was so perfect I genuinely wasn't sure if it was edited in or not for a minute.
i’ve been collecting games for years but minecraft story mode 2 for Switch somehow became one of my most valuable games by pure chance. this is my legacy
Great job. Love this, as an engineer who loves games and history of what we build this does a great job providing context and info. We need more!
Ok, so small known thing, if you mistreat Lukas throughout basically the ENTIRE game, he leaves for the last fight and softlocks where he would normally save you or something. It's a very SMALL but cool addition.
Lukas is my favorite character.. But in later episodes the writers didn't use them well 😭. He had so much potential

To put it simply; lies.''
You can slap this on Mortal Kombat, on Call of Duty, On FUCKING SIMS 4 and it would still increase the game's point by sheer influence.
i love Minecraft Storymode and i agree with most of what you said... season 2 is much more fleshed out so i think you'd enjoy that game a lot more, the fights, the puzzles, and the choices are Much much better.
But yeah, it's filled with stuff like that
dont matter what anyone say about this game, whiter storm is the coolest monster ever to exist in a minecraft related game

I actually thought you were somewhat generous. I luckily only watched someone play it online and didn't buy it, but there is a YT series that literally shows that you can almost beat this while game completely AFK.
from what im aware, this game started a small underground community of fans of it trying to recreate it in minecraft, or at least do what communites do and use it to MAKE something fun

When I was a kid I really wanted to play the game. I don’t really know what happened but after the 4th episode I feel off but went back to it when season 2 was releasing
Honestly, I think the Wither Storm was actually a pretty genius idea for a Minecraft movie style villain.
I'd love to see a minecraft story mode reanimated project (I also really want a season 3 it would def make story mode relevant again u.u)
It felt like it had some character? or maybe that's just nostalgia talking.
edit: the only reason I think I want it to come back is so I can laugh at it. also character wasn't the right word the word is passion it had a lot of passion to the players and the culture of Minecraft itself.
if you wanna play it, just pirate, it is abadonware at this point so it is legal and ethical
I remember it being free on PS store and playing for a bit.
But it seemed boring and I didn't play any further.

then also realizing i never heard of telltale before and i heard so much good stuff about them while this game was upcoming just to be like.. huh. why are these devs so popular?

I see your point, but there's always Blue Archive that's spitting out bangers.
I actually do appreciate how the mansion mystery doesn’t do a fake out where all the RUclipsrs are innocent.

Well I do have to say if we never got MC Storymode we would never have gotten the Witherstorm mod for Minecraft which I think bringing things from MC Storymode into Minecraft is pretty cool.
