Owning a gaming console is a huge investment. Hundreds of dollars are spent on the console along with accessories like extra controllers and games. Taking care of the PlayStation 4 is essential, especially when it comes to avoiding some of the biggest mistakes other console owners make.
If you own a PS4, you should avoid free item scams at all costs. You most likely won’t receive a free PS Plus account, free game downloads or free currency for your favorite games. The idea of jailbreaking a console sounds cool, but hopefully you have a backup in mind because so much can go wrong. Running out of space is a big issue on many consoles, but don’t go all delete happy or you may run into several other issues along the way. Try not to play your console during a storm or you could run into major power surge issues. Watch to learn about ALL the things you should NEVER do to your PS4!

Never put your PS4 in the freezer after it turns off from overheating (i was not smart doing this myself)

@@MetalProgramer similar to how a human can die if you go from very cold temps to hot or vice versa, it can ruin the internals of a machine to go from hot to cold very quickly. Also the freezer is likely too cold for machinery. A fridge is dangerous enough.

This keeps on happening to me that I thought the HDMI cable was plugged but it was not plugged in the PS4 told it's gonna damage or data might corrupt.

FYI, not all HDMI cables are the same. Pin 13 (cec) sometimes are not connected on some cheap cables. Some ground pins may not be connected either. And sometimes the shield aren't connected.

I love my consoles... My psp is still alive i bought in 2007..
I've had people who owned consoles since the 80s and still do the very things this video says not to. My brother in law has a PS4 and leaves it on when he's not playing it, treats it like an entertainment center, leaves music discs on top of it, and leaves the games out of their case.

I threw my controller across the room once, now when I do I certain combination on my right joystick it "snaps" or something, and it makes a terrible squeaking noise. On top of this, it slowly makes my player turn right sometimes.

Wrong system
One more tip when it comes to lightning and power surges: If you wanna take your power surge protection/prevention to the next level, invest in an Uninterruptible Power Supply or UPS battery system. It's essentially a surge protector with a reserve battery connected to it which switches on the battery for a time (depends on the size/capacity of the battery) when you have a power surge or a prolonged power outage. Giving you enough time to save your progress and shut your system off properly to prevent data loss/corruption or even continue playing for a while with the more expensive/larger variants. With UPS' you're essentially paying for the battery size so you can find them for as low as 30 bucks all the way to hundreds of dollars, but you get what you pay for. I started using UPS' on my consoles and my PC and I never went back to power strips again. Best part is, most of the batteries are affordable (depending on how much you paid for the UPS initially) and readily available.

I would like to say that the HDMI cord thing is a little misleading.
I have personally purchased “bargain bin” HDMI cables that do not support ARC or HDR.
I purchased said cable and every time I tried to use either on my tv that supported ARC and HDR, I couldn’t get either to function no matter what I tried.
Not saying all “bargain bin” cords are a bad idea, but something to keep in mind if you want ARC or HDR support.
Ive noticed gold infused cables are the perfect match for my 1060, linus tech tips even did a vid and showed like you said but they were even slowing down the signal

Actually you might have some trouble with the PS4 and some cheap HDMI cables, some of them made with bad quality materials would break easily, also some may not be able to deliver content in 4K and/or HDR due to limitations of cheap materials (i.e. the type of metal the cable is made). Cheap cables may also cause interference and artifacts.
That last one got me. I spent maybe $20 upgrading my HDMI cable for my PS4 Pro thinking that it would give me the best quality. Instead it gave me the same quality as my cheap HDMI cable. Good thing I kept the receipt! :D

The hdmi thing triggers me, although the hdmi cables do offer similar quality, there are many different types of hdmi (1.4, 2.0, 2.1 etc) and some of these may not do 4K 60, for example, hdmi 1.4 can only do 4K 30. In this case your TV may be great but your hdmi is limiting you!
Minor adjustment, although the HDMI cable included with every console might give the same quality, the PS4 doesn't allow the HDR function with the standard cable. I realized this when I couldn't set the option on for my Sony 4K TV. After buying the advanced cable, not so expensive either, the HDR function was adjustable.

@@iThunder That is not correct, HDMI cables without Ethernet do not run HDR or ARC features. HDMI cables with Ethernet have more bandwidth for said features.

I have a comment about the HDMi quality, I was using an old HDMi cable that I had since I bought my original ps4 way back when. This cable was not HDR compliant and so proves that some HDMi cables are different, the cheap ones are OK, just check that you're getting what you're after as some newer cables also allow ARC control through HDMi also

Higher quality hdmi use higher quality metals for the connectors also some cheap hdmi cables won't be or are poorly shielded which can cause interference. Will they all show the same stuff? Sure but that doesn't change that better quality cable will last longer

@@obanize3342 I know this is a little late... but most likely you can save it by reinstalling the firmware from a usb stick, software and instructions should be on Sony's site..

My PS4 Pro will not work properly with a cheap cable, the image goes all fuzzy. I have to use one of the higher quality cables to get it to run properly.

Dude, the ps4 is not like the pc, all information (excluding screenshots and vids) for a game is in one file, so there is no way you can mess up a game by deleting a random file, it’s impossible. But PC on the other hand...

PenaPVP is an place that allows you to control pc, etc or uninstall games/programs

PenaPVP You can delete a part of a container file too. Why do it though? Unless you want to inject mods in that file. A thing that is getting more popular on computers (well, Linux ones anyway) is app files. These remain a single container after install. So there is really nothing inherently saying computer software must be files all over the place.
