@M-fz2sv3qk1d Thank you for asking! I use mechanical pencils because I don't have to sharpen the pencil. I use about 12 different mechanical pencils with various lead hardnesses and sizes for different applications. But I started with just one regular wooden pencil when I first started drawing , and I was able to express all the details and shades with it. Now, I use different mechanical pencils just for the convenience and speed. I hope this can help in some ways. Good luck on your practice, and remember to enjoy drawing!
