    I had a GT fitting yesterday and left empty handed! My current tsr 3 was longer and more consistent. As the GT is confirmed lower moi than tsr, this wasn't a surprise. I was gutted, but I saved a load of cash 😂

      Good to hear. I love my TSR and don’t even want to hit the GT out of fear of having to replace it 😂 I got fit for a Mavrik Sub Zero in 2021 that I hit very far but could never hit straight, so after losing a dozen balls OB, I went and got a Ping G425 max, then I got frustrated that I was never far enough down the fairway. I did a fitting once TSR came out haven’t looked back!

      Where did you get that from that the GT has lower MOI than TSR? Genuinely curious as I’ve heard literally from the horses mouth that that’s not the case

    • @djmico0713
      @djmico0713 3 месяца назад +2

      @@JSGolfer I think there might be a bit of accidental interchanging of the terms “MOI” and “CG” MOI as we know from being fans of TXG is a “measure” of forgiveness (e.g. Ping 10k Max, Qi10) where CG is the “location” of the center of gravity. I think what was meant is that since with GT the weight track moved closer to the face, the CG is different between GT and TSR which may be why OP had better results with TSR. I’m not a physics expert but I’m sure CG can be moved without altering MOI, and changes to CG can affect delivery and launch conditions

    • @JSGolfer
      @JSGolfer 3 месяца назад +1

      @@djmico0713 yeah that would make sense, as the MOI through the new crown has certainly improved

    Have been in GT3 8 15 18 for 10 days and I’m in love, vs. my TSR3 which were my favorites to-date. GT managed my fraction into heel miss with significantly tighter spin, and it feels really hot and fast. The fairway woods are easy to hit high with a flat flight. I loved and still recommend TSR3 but I’m a full GT convert as of now. Cheers boys, great content as always.

    It's quite intriguing to see Mikey, who was fitted by one of the world's best fitters, Ian, achieving an additional 20 yards simply by changing the driver head. Ian has consistently praised the quality of the TSR driver, so it's surprising to witness such a significant gain if Mikey's fit was already optimized. It raises questions about the true performance difference between driver generations and suggests there might be some marketing exaggeration at play... no doubt GT a good driver, but this seems a bit over the top...good content none the less

    • @Itheral
      @Itheral 3 месяца назад +5

      It's more about getting fit into the correct club head / shaft for your current swing. If you were to get fit 8 times over a 2 year period, you would probably be able to find meaningful gains multiple times without ever feeling like you've made a significant improvement.
      If people could reasonablely get properly fit into older (1-3 years) clubs, the whole 'new clubs are always better' argument falls like a house of cards

    • @TTedz
      @TTedz 3 месяца назад

      @@Itheral I think that fits my point even more. Ian and Mike have access to the best equipment every day and can tweak their clubs weekly based on their swings if they wanted. So, when they say they brought their gamer to beat, I would hope they would bring their tuned driver. But when someone says, 'I only put on a new head' and gains about 20 yards... come on now.
      Even Ian's tried and true SIM, which is quite old in this space of gearheads, still held up like a beast in that video he just did at TPI. All good, great drivers love the new 13.5. Keep up the good vids TXG

    Good sessions guys. I enjoy watching fitters get fitted! To me, I feel like equipment is getting close to maxing out at this point. Just a feel I get from the equipment sector. Its an odd game.... I am playing my best golf in years with only a Mini Driver (no driver or 3w), 12 year old Mizzy MP irons with a 13 year old Ping Craz-e putter to boot. Great fitting by Tim at CC Calgary on the Mini Driver and total guess work by me on the rest of the bag. LOL! Odd game we play.

  • @JSGolfer
    @JSGolfer 3 месяца назад +8

    Incredible how many people go into new equipment videos just wanting to hate new gear.
    The point of a fitting is to improve misses and improve average data, which Mikey clearly did in every important ball variant… that he’s hit a 152 mph ball speed once with his TSR is absolutely irrelevant as the rest was quite inconsistent.
    In fitting terms, the spin, ball speed and carry an average was all improved against TSR.
    And he even said at the start of the video, “your TSR isn’t far off” which doesn’t mean the TSR is dog shit, it means it’s completely gameable, but, you could gain a bit more…
    Jesus 🙈

    • @jasonh37

      Agree. All of these guys saying, "He hit it farther with the TSR". Even if companies say, "Our longest driver ever", or "Fastest ball speeds ever". Doesn't mean that your gonna hit it 10 yards further. It's all about the misses...

      Why not have him hit TSR AFTER he was warmed up? They never went back to it after hitting GT… he did hit 150s with Tsr but the fitter says these are your best numbers so far and they were not! He says you walked in at 227.. so you take his worst one and that’s what he walked in with? Because some to Gt swings were worse.

    I have almost identical swing metrics to Mikey and had similar gains in distance, ball speed and tighter dispersion with less spin when testing the GT3 1k Blue stock shaft compared to my gamer TSR / expensive custom shaft, and I also compared 100 rounds of driver data from my Arccos account. Ave total drive during the 30 minute fitting at the Titleist Studio went from 240 to 265 yards with the GT. I went into the fitting skeptical the GT could materially improve my TSR stats, but the numbers speak for themselves and potentially hitting 1-2 club lengths less from more fairways into greens was worth the investment for greater enjoyment as an avid golfer. Definitely take the time to get fitted to optimize all that the new drivers / shafts have to offer for each of our unique swings, regardless of which brand.

He is admittedly not a range rat, he has said as much that he doesn’t work on stuff [note his path got more and more left, even as both Ian and the fitter pointed it out]. He needs to be fit for his miss, not the 1oo10 shot that is a decent swipe at the ball.

    What does the fitter mean when he says the 16.5 5-wood is +4??

    • @kevinoneill2170
      @kevinoneill2170 3 месяца назад +1

      28:24 They were NOT talking about loft and lie angles. He was most likely referring to using a 4 gram heavier weight in the head (or, less likely, a Golf Pride Plus4 grip). Mikey's 16.5 degree 5-wood is short at 41.5 inches. Standard length for the Titleist 16.5 fairway is 43 inches and the 18 degree standard length is 42 inches, so 41.5 is quite a bit shorter than standard 43. When he said it was "+4" he was most likely referring to using a 4 gram heavier weight in the head to increase the swing weight back to where they wanted it. The shorter shaft would have decreased the swing weight so adding the 4g heavier weight in the head would have increased the swing weight by two points to counteract the short shaft.
      Less likely that he was referring to the grip that they used, but Golf Pride makes some of their grips in a "Plus4" model, which have less taper to create a larger lower hand "that simulates 4 extra tape layers for lighter grip pressure and more control." The Plus4 grip models also weigh a few grams more, so that would have affected the club's balance and decreased the swing weight even more (in addition to the shorter shaft) so I'm guessing that is not what he meant by "plus 4."

    The Titleist fitter made the comment, "My job is to control North/South dispersion, If you ever figure out East/West direction, let me know." Um, what? There are lots of options with a club fitting to assist players in helping their left/right misses. That's literally the job of a fitter is to help with that. The Titleist lineup doesn't give much in terms of moveable weight to help control left/right shot direction but there are plenty of other things that can be explored with a player. Surprising statement.

    I think the GT3 has sacrificed too much MOI this year. The actual numbers have been confirmed in the Golftec and Cool Clubs review, it's as about as forgiving as the original SIM. I think it's an elite players option and if your a 8/9 handicapper who wants to create or counter a draw/fade, I don't think GT3 is the product sadly, just not good enough on the misses compared to TSR or even TSi. Likewise the MOI on the GT2 has dropped off as well. I think Titleist are chasing ball speed gains on RUclips videos in my opinion, but over 30/40 shots and season long performance, I think the average player is far better off with the previous 2 generations.

    When you look at the average of the TSR versus the GT, there’s not enough in this to consider even changing anything. The highest carry and distance came with the TSR. The new GT did not do much except on one occasion get a couple yards more. Seems like this was a fixed result.other test results on RUclips by unbiassed users have shown the TSR to be every bit is good and then some cases almost better. It’s a gimmick and way overpriced.

    I am wondering what the main stumbling block is with people being unable to get left and slapping off the back foot. I do the same thing as Mikey and no matter how hard I try it is always there slightly. Garrett Clark has the same move. Makes it hard to ever really know whether you will hit it well day to day. What's the best fix for Mikey to be able to get left? Club fitting sure, but the most gains will be had with a better move, and I know he is capable. Will just take the right instructor to trigger the fix.

      Use step drills. Start with your feet together, rock the club forward and then as you swing the club back take a step forward and feel the lead leg plant and push. There a number of causes from incorrect set up (lacking proper spin angle to turn behind it), to being told not to sway at all costs, and not getting the arms started soon enough to catch up.

      Setup, he needs to feel more weight in his heels, watch his right heel, it gets off the ground way to fast, stand a bit taller, in transition he’s super quick, he needs his right shoulder to drop more straight down, his moves towards the ball, he’s over the top. And he needs to feel more pressure on his left side while still staying back at the top. Think about hitting the ball a clubhead behind the ball. That will get path more right while allowing the time for the club to be more square. You can see his face to path is close to -10, that will always result in a pull slice.
      I’m not saying this is easy, and you really only need to focus on the right shoulder and the “bump” move towards the target to start. I mean 240 carry 270 total. I’m guessing Mike is an 8-10?

      Yep, that’s why he’s a solid 3 wood player. Also he knows all of this. He works with Trackman all day. When your 3 wood and driver are the same swing speed, ball speed is way too similar. It’s just setup and AoA. -2 with 3 wood is perfect.

      Mikey drives it great!! It’s the best part of his game. His path ensures he hits a fade. His outcome of his delivery is strike dependent. If his catches it toe of centre he’s perfect, if he hits it in the middle he’s good but heel strike is the no no.

    Not impressed at all with the numbers you guys are seeing there. Not in the zip code of 2.7 x swing speed. Just ordered a GT3 (8deg Fuji Black) and on my best drives was seeing OVER "Optimal" results in the 2.8X swing speed range. 3 yards extra carry and 6 yards extra total vs. my TSR3

    Titleist is slipping in Left Dash balls with the GT to show the massive jump in ball speed and using Pro V1 balls during the baseline with the gamer.

    No idea why he’s in tsr3 or would look at gt3, not being rude, well I might be but surely he should hit a ping driver given that kind of inconsistency. No shock gt2 was best

      He’s overweight and needs to do whatever makes sense to reduce. Until he does, he’s going to have a difficult time getting off his right side and no club adjustment is going to fix that to his satisfaction.

    Every other channel is showing GT the same or slower than TSR. This comes across as a commercial with claims of insane ball speed jumps. Either your TSRs were not well fit drivers for you or this is not very genuine.

      I think perhaps you’ve got that the wrong way around. We’re seeing more ball speed in our testing because we’re being fitted well. These are fitting videos though, we haven’t done our head to head testing yet. We start that next week when I’m back from vacation.

    Sure GT may be better but think this shows how poorly fit Mikey was previously with that TSR3. That TSR3 had way too little loft and bad shaft fitting caused him to try and modify his delivery

    • @ianfrasergolf
      @ianfrasergolf 3 месяца назад +7

      That’s actually not the case at all. Mikey’s working on changing his swing quite a bit. He used to hit up on it much more than he does now therefore less loft worked really well for him. As his swing evolves through the changes we’ll have to modify as we go.
