So happy to see Slaf doing well. I really feel having patience for him developing is key: not everyone can be a top producer right away. Kid's gonna be a stud
@@predat0r178i wouldn’t compare jack hughes to slafkovsky because they are both completely different players but i would rather compare him with byfield.
You don't see the turnovers? Whatever little plays he makes could be done by any first liner He's a liability to a top line because he's always giving up the puck. He's a 3rd liner who can't hit and can't fight. Ya but he scored twice! He must be amazing.
@@bondjames652 dude, do you actually watch the games? He drives play on any line he's been on over the past 3 months. His forechecking is a vast improvement and probably some of the best on the team as of late.
It's not just Matheson. I've been noticing the team's lack of passing to Slafkovsky almost all season. Caufield is the worst, but in general they all pass to Slaf only when they're about to lose the puck. He's serving everybody mostly with high precision well timed passes in scoring positions while they only serve him with what nobody wants and rarely well timed. It's sad, because it means he's not getting the same quality chances as others.
Slaf went full Chadkovski yesterday! He got himself 2 beauties in a row! Captain Suzuki and demon Pezz gave the exemple earlier in the 1st. Xhekaj grabbing a nice assist on Suzuki's 2nd goal should silence the haters for a while.
All of us who "told you so" about the talent and IQ we saw in Slaf all along, can take a bow. We've earned the right to gloat and serve-up a crow-buffet, for being mocked and flamed non-stop. 😎
I don't think any one of us could've known how he'll progress (or not) over time. Most educated answer was to be patient before offering a definitive answer. And I for one am happy I waited before offering judgement. Slaf wants to be the man and he looks like he can be the man in MTL
I am a Habs fan but not blind... I want Slaf to be gigger and Badder then a Mcdavid Sangwich covered in Mathers sauce and a Mckinnon Chaser. But facts is facts... The kids numbers are the weakest of any #1 overall in 26 years even with the 2 goals.... and he has a long way to pass our last #1 Overall Wickenheiser in his first 97 games.... Pump the brakes on I told ya so's Sir Junkie not a hater but we need #1 overalls to be great,,,, Not good.... as Tony the Tiger says GREEEEAAAATTTTT!!!!
@@rickbengle5240 Fellow Hab fan. Sorry, but I haven't used the brakes so far and I won't. Why? Because I never had any doubts. You have to factor age at least. For example, Ovechkin was almost 2 years older when he was in his first season. Slafs best comparable is Joe Thornton. big kid, also came in at 18. And also got his ass kicked at the very start. Lots of people were screaming "bust" about him too. And Slaf is outscoring him by a big margin over the same amount of games. I saw lots of skill and high IQ from the start. I had no doubts he was going to be a special player.
Game 89 for Slafkovsky and he delivers what a Number 1 Overall should deliver. This is what Hab fans want and need from Slaf... credit where it is due!!!!
Slaf slowly maturing into the league and becoming what we expected of him. Meanwhile, a certain Shane something that loves staring at Habs people is sulking in the AHL...

Time to clean house with these dead beats, enough is enough!!! Play the young ones that want to play, and play hard!! GO Habs GO!!
A bit bitter taste on Slaf's first goal as he scores it between the legs of our fellow Slovakian national M. Fehervary, but what a shot nevertheless, and the second one ooof... Slaf's shooting gloves were on today, if Cole passed him for the first goal instead of to Suzuki, he may as well gotten a hattrick ;)
I mentioned a few weeks back that Slaf’s only weakness was his lack of confidence shooting the puck and having that drive to score…well, that changed last night. He’s now perfect 😊
slow start to his career for Slaf but he's been as good as he should since december! I was worried after his slow start to the season but now he looks like he could become a legit top line winger one day
Went to this one in person, it was a great experience! Definitely helped that all 5 habs goals were scored at the end I was sitting at (that Suzuki opener was a BEAUTY).
Monty played well, especially in the 2nd while his support went walkabout. Both Slaf’s goals were what every announcer doing hockey today can’t wait to describe as ‘goal scorer’s goals.’ He’s CLEARLY getting better. 19 years old for factssake.
On the pp, if you have Caufield on the left and Slaf on the right waiting to unload, that is the start of a great pp unit. Matheson just needs to keep his right blinder off.
