Whatever little plays he makes could be done by any first liner
He's a liability to a top line because he's always giving up the puck.
      He's a 3rd liner who can't hit and can't fight.

It's not just Matheson. I've been noticing the team's lack of passing to Slafkovsky almost all season. Caufield is the worst, but in general they all pass to Slaf only when they're about to lose the puck. He's serving everybody mostly with high precision well timed passes in scoring positions while they only serve him with what nobody wants and rarely well timed. It's sad, because it means he's not getting the same quality chances as others.

@@rickbengle5240 Fellow Hab fan. Sorry, but I haven't used the brakes so far and I won't. Why? Because I never had any doubts. You have to factor age at least. For example, Ovechkin was almost 2 years older when he was in his first season. Slafs best comparable is Joe Thornton. big kid, also came in at 18. And also got his ass kicked at the very start. Lots of people were screaming "bust" about him too. And Slaf is outscoring him by a big margin over the same amount of games. I saw lots of skill and high IQ from the start. Montreal is missing an explosive goal scorer, I hoped it would be Caufield but it looks like he’ll mostly be a dangler and sniper
Slaf looks like he can score from anywhere any way, and if he keeps this up into next year, I see him being their first 40 goal scorer since… um let me see here… VINCENT DAMPHOUSSE THIRTY YEARS AGO (no wonder they haven’t won a cup since)

'for some reason, nobody picks up ovi'
It was slaf that was supposed to cover him and he made a rookie mistake, you can see it in his face on the play that he knows he fucked up. Shit happens and he clearly had a great game otherwise.
