Living my Florida life. I am actually glad you have validated many of my experiences on your vehicle with your experience. Thanks Chris .. and Stephanie.
The U.K. used to allow a 10% over before enforcing the speed limit due to inaccuracies in speedometers. I'm not sure if that still stands as things get more reliable. It's not about speeding but about safe driving and good braking distance when needed. Faster speeds need longer braking times.
I keep having to dial mine back to 0 over in residential neighborhoods. FSD loves to zip through streets full of dog walkers and playing kids-if you let it.
I left the max speed at the default 40% and it does good in standard mode. It doesn’t actually speed that much when there’s other traffic on the road, mostly it just blends in. It’s rare to be the only car in NYC so I guess I haven’t tested it when I have the road to myself, but honestly in those cases I normally speed like crazy too so I probably wouldn’t mind.
I usually didn't miss the 40%, but too often in 25 or 35 zones it would be going way too fast (for me) even in chill. so I think 15% is where I'll be at for now
I wouldn't be able to use it here in rural Ohio. Even with 10% offset the car often will keep going 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. And there are quite a few photo radars ...
I had a fender bender in FSD like your first right turn that was close. Of course, I had an 85 yo behind the wheel for an FSD demo. It went from total amazement to a complete demo fail as the cybertruck rolled into the side of a stopped truck. Lesson learned.. don't demo tight spots unless I'm behind the wheel.
@joshcarter-com Very little damage to my Cybertruck. After we impacted the side of his truck bed. He drove forward. That caused most of the damage. It only bent my front fender corner out. But the stainless drug thru his thin metal all the way to his wheel arch. His truck had a lot of damage. The fuel line was ripped from the opening, he claims it felt like the cab was shifted on the frame and the doors wouldn't close. The cyber fender was bent and the bumper cover had some abrasions. The cybertruck did not deploy airbags or indicate anything was wrong. I've been driving it for weeks waiting to get into the Tesla Collision center. Impact was 5-10mph.
It was amazing to meet you, I never thought I'd see you in my city. Thanks for taking the time to indulge me in a little chat. I hope to get a chance to talk with you again sometime. Welcome, our city government prioritizes landscaping and aesthetics over visibility of traffic every time, and sets up every turn across traffic to be a death trap by making the turning lanes block each others' view. How I love living here. I have noticed that when I leave it at +15%, it will have apparently random sections of road where it reverts to the assumption of +40% regardless, and I don't know how to report that. It is my personal opinion that unprotected lefts are just a ridiculous waste of time and also less safe than just turning right and turning around, and I think Tesla needs to prioritize safety and time over unprotected lefts when it comes to routing.
Chris, please, when trying a U-turn, and it moves way too slowly and you had to grab the wheel and hit the accelerator, it was prompting you to press the mic button and tell the team what happened... please take the opportunity to do this... your viewers will totally understand you taking your focus off them for a moment.
Same. For instance, there are times where my Model S will “change” lanes in the middle of a left turn (if there are 2 left turn lanes, for instance), but only if there’s no car next to me And when I say “change” lanes, it doesn’t even have an upcoming reason to be in the other lane. It just doesn’t follow the dotted lines and turns into the “wrong” lane But again, when I’m surrounded by other cars it doesn’t do that (and just follows the dotted lines)
I appreciate your honest review, not hiding the parts when FSD is struggling. How's Max Speed behaving? Do you have to use the accelerator much to "encourage" it to get to the speed limit? Does it slow down when getting in a slower speed limit?
In hurry it'll usually get up to a fast speed. It seems to have trouble changing speed zones, whether it's up or down... It just likes to stick with what speed it's at for a while.
Great video, Chris! But I have just one question: How did you get the name of your sponsor (Jowua) on the tailgate of your Cybertruck screen rendition? That is pretty cool!
@@DirtyTesla - Nice feature! We have a Cybertruck on order, but are probably going to hold off until the price comes down a bit more in the next year or so ... love watching your videos!
In the last video he said that with the last update the ability to upload your own skin was added. Not sure it was the CyberTruck only or the holiday update.
In the semi-rural areas I live in 5% over the speed limit is about what you can do to never get pulled over on the highways. I haven't tested it too much, but it seemed like with my Cybertruck at 40% (and speed limit warnings off...which I shutoff most warnings), it would just jack the speed up to crazy for here even in chill, 70-80 in a 55 and I was always scroll wheeling it down. And again I haven't tested it a ton, but it seemed like re-enabling the speed limit warning calmed it down a bit, but still a tad high even at 20%. I'll try 15% I feel like there should be 2 targets (and they don't have to be specific numbers/pcts), an amount you want it to go when you're the only one on the road and an amount over to pass/keep up with traffic. Like someone mentioned about Europe, there are places where you need to be zero over or a fixed small amount and other places where you better add 10-20 mph to not get run over. I guess Tesla is trying to collect this information for you, but ultimately it's still the driver who would get the ticket...
How do you keep getting software updates a full day (or more) ahead of me? My regular notice of a new update is when you post a drive video; then I get the update a day later.
Most cities in California have their speed limits set to let cars travel 10% more than the speed limit and still be safe is typical circumstances. Driving 15% over the speed limit can get you a ticket. The highway patrol deals with speeding on most 65 MPH freeways. They have their own calculus for when to give you a ticket.
We are from Michigan (not to far from you) we spend 3 months in Florida and yesterday we were at Walmart and Parker next to a Cyber Truck . I just wonder if it was yours? It was on 27 Just north of 192.
I’ve had problems just like your unprotected left, e.g. trying to cross a large highway with traffic coming (at speed!) which FSD doesn’t gauge properly. Also FSD routing keeps routing towards those awful crossings when an intersection with a traffic light is close by.
Do you ever disengage mid-video to give Tesla feedback for the feedback loop? It would probably learn faster if you did that and then it would showcase to watchers how to speed up FSD improvements.
Making left turns is indeed a significant challenge, but I believe that machine learning will eventually address this issue as well. Completely removing the steering wheel will likely require substantial training and development.
is it just the camera angle or is the sensor shrourd mounted crooked on the windshield? My OCD wants me tobreach thorough the screen and try to straighten it!😂
I'm just jealous that folks are still getting updates. I'm stuck on the nightmare that is 12.5.4.2. I don't use it unless I'm on the highway, it's that bad.
You'd think with 4WS the Cybertruck would perform U-Turns with ease - but there's no urgency in the turn speed - this needs addressing.... FSD constantly learning!
13% offset fits the cliche “8 and you skate, 9 and you’re mine” that a lot of police and jurisdictions subscribe to. I was disappointed when Tesla took 1% increments away on the 13.2.2 update.
Your butt wasn't out there (in the two main lanes of traffic). Take a look at the visualization. Your rear was in the turn lane, which wouldn't be an issue in those scenarios. Now it didn't make the question mark maneuver but not as bad as you made it out to be. The u turn was fine as well, not a real disengagement. 100% your issues. I'm not sure you know what to look for on most of these drives.
If there was more traffic coming from the right it probably wouldn’t have attempted the turn though. So sticking the butt out wasn’t as bad. I get the point though.
Hey Dirty Tesla. I'm wondering if you have noticed these behaviors on your trip with FSD 13+ Well, after 350 highway miles with 12.6 I have to say for me it is sadly terrible. 12.5.4.2 was much better for me. I hate the lack of the switch to keep lane changes to a minimum. The car has a definite big bias to go to the right lane(s). Not useful in mountain driving with two lanes and semis and trucks pulling trailers in the right lane. The car will pass one vehicle and immediately go back to the right lane. With heavy traffic in the left lane going by the slow traffic in the right line you will NEVER get out of the slow lane. At one point back in town on a freeway, I put the car in the diamond lane and after a mile or so, boom it moves two lanes to the right. Also it now no longer holds the center of the lane as it used to. On sweeping right and left curves the car biases significantly toward the inside of the curve, so much so that IT EVEN GOES OVER THE LANE DIVIDERS. Unacceptable and really no reason for it. This isn't F1 where we are trying to hit the apex of the turn. It even does the lane "drift" when other cars are passing in the next lane. When getting off of the highway at one point, once the car was barely off of the highway with a 75 MPH speed limit, it immediately dropped the speed limit (and the car speed ) to 35 MPH on a long off ramp. Completely unnecessary. This was never the behavior previously and I thank my lucky stars there was no car exiting behind me as no sane driver would ever drop his speed like that.
Actually the roll out to HW3 cars still is focused on very small subset of cars for 12.6.1. Zero Model 3 and 16 Model Y, so definitely still not wide release. Stats always shows 1000’s on wide pushes. I think it’s funny, Tesla’s take rate on AI4 cars of FSD or subs is so low the only way they can get test data of versions is constantly give AI4 cars free FSD. If FSD wide was half as good as your videos there would be higher take rate.
that must be one of the less clever conclusions Ive heard. So you suggest that there is zero benefit for Tesla to get people to star subscribing to the FSD service so the only reason they would do it is to get feedback on usage? WOW! :p I can tell you that Tesla will give out a free FSD month no matter if the take rate is 5% or 55% because every new owner that opt in will give tesla thousands of dollars over the long time and it cost Tesla 0 dollar to let a user try FSD for a little while..... Also.. It is not like the cameras are shut off if you dont have FSD so all Tesla cars no matter if they have FSD or not will help to give data towards Tesla AI training.
i'm only interested in how fsd is working on model y's and 3's and the Robotaxi. Nobody is buying the cybertruck so its kind of irrelevant. looking forward to seeing you back in your y.

If FSD is ever to come to Europe, the speed over the limit will have to be 0. Speed traps are everywhere!
They could train it to recognize speed cameras 😄
They also have speedtraps inside parked cars

Don’t worry about the butt sticking out from the median too much. It’s nothing new down here. We’re just a bunch of rebels. 😂
4:30 I kind of assume Telsa recommends 45% speed offset, so that they get data on when people are needing to turn it down lower. Just a theory...

@ interesting! This would be local roads in my area and it never speeds, in fact it even goes under the posted limit. Basically, it feels comfortable.
A Cybertruck owner, great attitude, and family man… love the videos.
Love that flat Florida topography.

What kind of damage was there to each truck? I’m very curious how the CT does in that low-speed scenario.
@joshcarter-com Very little damage to my Cybertruck. After we impacted the side of his truck bed. He drove forward. That caused most of the damage. It only bent my front fender corner out. Nice to see Dirty Tesla fsding in Florida.
11:00 you need tap the acceleration pedal to get it going.

that neighbourhood is insane, the roads are so geometric
Beautifully framed thumbnail ❤
Great graduation, buddy. Good luck developing the channel.
At 11:35, I'm convinced FSD knows whether it can leave its butt sticking out and will only do it if it can safely.

Yeah

How did you get the text jowua to appear on the tailgate of the cybertruck on your screen?
are you planning on removing the side mirrors?
I'm interested but I do actually use them so... 😂
Have you noticed that the graphics are new? Seems like the occupancy network is used for cars at certain times when used on FSD at slower speeds.
The speed of these updates releases are insane… I can’t wait to see what they can do with Optimus

Looks like as if CT doesn't know its dimensions well so it hesitates. I wonder if Tesla will train a separate FSD model for CT
You need to up your sound by about 6 dB.

The speeding question, IMO, is contextual. I don't like speeding at all on roads

I just want to say I was expecting this video but I was expected it with the model 3 or y so we could the optimal example.

8:35 I would hit the button and report it for them? Not an owner but I'm sure having them aware of it would be helpful. Same with 11:31 maybe?
Still need to stop faster at stop signs, and hopefully, they can do E-Z pass recognition in the future.
Maybe 13.2.4 is Tesla’s way of bringing Cybertruck up to par with the 3 and Y? Could be a Cybertruck only update?
How long has JOWA been on the back of your truck on the display?
Since holiday update
You'd think with 4WS the Cybertruck would perform U-Turns with ease - but there's no urgency in the turn speed - this needs addressing.... FSD constantly learning!

13.2.2.1 on my MY has at least twice now made a right turn too slowly for oncoming traffic. I would have waited in both cases.
Wary = apprehensive
Weary = tired 😜
Sorry I meant whimsical
What's the point of a system that's always messing up? If you're stuck babysitting, wouldn't driving yourself be way less stressful?
A toy to play with until you get the 13.3 that's supposed to be just around the corner...
Left it’s butt out there 🤣

One step forward, 1 step back. Seems like a lot of hokey pokey.
That’s what it’s all about…
That's how things progress.. eventually you're going two steps forward and one step back, and then finally you're moving forward. 😉
That's not how I would describe my experience. It is more like hundreds of thousands of steps forward and problem areas disappearing exponentially.
