March 2024 Sand Update at Kua Bay

- Remember when we showed you Kua Bay with NO sand in February after severe erosion from winter high surf events? We visited today to give you an update and although there is still no sand on the southern portion of the beach, there is plenty on the north side! The sand level is not up yet to where it usually is in Summer, but it's great news for those coming for spring break!

As someone who’s been going to that beach since the time we had to hike in, I had no idea the sand came back that quickly! I assumed once the winter waves washed it out it would take the summer waves to bring it back.

Lol every year guys... nothing new here. That was my favorite beach the last 8 years went there all the time. I've seen 15ft of sand missing straight down from that lil lava cave. You could walk out 200ft and be knee high still .

So funny how all us locals knew that the sand comes and goes since we were kids. Only these kind people think they need to "update" us on things we knew our whole life. Welcome to Hawaii I guess...
You sound goofy bah this was actually helpful. I don't live close anymore so it was helpful to know ahead of time it was back bumbai now I know I can make the hour long drive knowing it won't still be gone and have to go somewhere else.
