Just drink them after you’re already lit up and they all taste good.
Not wrong 😂, but a dangerous game sometimes 😂😂
@@Robiruu no, just get some Bucky and you’re good.
I once had a shot of absinthe at the beginning of the night and literally every drink that was put in my hands tasted delicious
@@bmeisteryaboi6322 see what i mean lol
Yo this is SOOOOOO TRUE! Once I'm actually on a bender☃️ and it's 7:30am on a statutory holiday, I'll drink a bottle of Olde English like it's French champagne 🍾 🤪 (Tbh I quit drinking about 5-6 years ago, and im about 2.5 years off drugs) But when I was partying, especially the drinking, omg what a toxic lifestyle! People don't realize how hard just booze, cigarettes and snorting coke actually is on them. Some good times while it lasted but im glad it's in the past because there were a ton of really hard times too. But that's life I guess...
As a native Kentuckian, a bourbon drinker, and a bagpiper, I have tried and tried to get a flavor for scotch whisky and I just can't do it. I've tried the expensive stuff, the cheap stuff, the stuff in between, and I just can't do it. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I'll have to look for this one and give it a try.
I’m the same way, but opposite. The smell of Bourbon & Tennessee whiskey makes my stomach turn, but I love Islay whisky & Irish.
@@revolvermaster4939 Same!! I can't stand bourbon, but any other whiskey is fantastic, including rye.
Yeahhh. Personally scotch is rough. Might as well drink very old barton.😂
And if yhall don't know. Thats kys cheap af stuff to drink.
@@revolvermaster4939 same, i also think Bourbon lacks the complexity that scotch has. That means not only is it rough but it often tastes cheap! Apart from the biggest hitters… but even then I’d take a Macallan 30 over a pappy all day long.
@@revolvermaster4939 I think it is the proof my guy. As bourbon bros we are so used to higher proof whiskey 100 proof and above. When we get an 80 proof which is most irish scotch, we do not like it.
Glenmorangie 10 or Glenlivet 15 are great, easy drinkers. My all time favourite is Bunnahabhain 12, no peat but some strong flavours.
My wife got me a Glenmorangie 15 and it is so smooth
Second the glenmorangie! Its alot milder and sweeter than the glenlivet or glenfiddich. But I like my glenfiddich the most
Bowmore 15 was a great gateway Scotch for me, personally. It has a nice raisiny chocolatey character to it that is very pleasant. It is an Islay scotch, so it’s peaty. But the Bowmore is what helped open that door to me.
Bowmore 15 is by far my favorite of the Islay scotches!
You would love the Dalmore Cigar Malt.
You know, I’ve gotta say that I’m proud of you for at least giving this your all. Us scotch drinkers appreciate the effort
Another one that is quite sweet and very easy to drink is the Glenmorangie 14 with a Port Wood finish. The port barrel used for the finish is a ruby port, which imparts a sweet and fruity undertone. Cheers!
Glenmorangie is another great gateway scotch. You may be able to find a sherry finished version as well, I had one in scotland so I know its out there.
That would be the Glenmorangie La Santa. He should try the port as well - Quinta Ruban
Glenmorangie 14 port cask
Try a Glendronach with some age on it. The 18 year old is a good one for the money. The older bottlings have much older (20 yr+) whiskies included in the final blend leftover from before the brand was revived.
Bourbon is much better than scotch. If scotch is prime, Bourbon is waygu kobe. Scotch makers don't even care about their barrels they'll use used Bourbon barrels. Bourbon is much better, period.
@@CrabbinFeverTerrible take - Bourbon is so one dimensional which has a time and place (usually when you want to drink something you don't have to think about)
Scotch has so many varieties in flavours, which are probably far too complex for your Yank palate to digest 😂
@kit475 It is bourbon that truly exemplifies sophistication and depth in whiskey. Bourbon's adherence to strict production standards ensures consistency and quality, while its aging in new charred oak barrels imparts rich and complex flavors that evolve, with each sip. The AMERICAN palate, far from being limited, appreciates bourbons harmonious balance of sweetness, spice, and oak, making it a quintessential choice for the discerning connoisseur So while scotch may offer variety, bourbon offers unparalleled refinement, making it the superior choice for those who seek the epitome of whiskey excellence.
@@CrabbinFever you can find this refinement within the Scottish Whisky, as well as experimental whisky branches, as well as whisky's that will hit you like a train.
Having the same three main flavour profiles allows you guys to believe you are conissuiers by picking up notes of bullshit flavours that 99% of drinkers will never pick up. Just the classic syndrome of oh X reviewer said they tasted slight hints of burnt marshmallows on a cool summer's eve so I taste that too!
Holding back experimentations amongst your 'strict' standards is ultimately what makes Whiskey so one dimensional.
One of my favorites, Dalmore 12 sherry is sick. I'd really recommend abelour!
If it's the harshness you don't like about scotch I would suggest something like Aberlour A'bunadh or one of the less smoky Glenrothes bottles, the whisky makers cut variants are always amazing!
YUSSS! He did the Dalmore!
Glendronach 12 or 15, Aberlour A'bunadh, Balvenie 15 Single Barrel are great Sherry Bombs. From there, if you want to transition to something with a touch of smoke, try Highland Park 18 (or 12 for a more affordable option) or Oban 14. Don’t go straight to a Lagavulin or Laphroaig, you’ll need to either let your palate develop to that point or go into it with a determination that you’re going to drink it till you like it… once your palate adapts… you’ve just opened up a whole new world!
Aberlour A'bunadh is so damn good 🤌🏻🤌🏻
Macallan 12 is also sherry finished i believe. Try that if you like finished scotch. I also recommend any lowland scotch for beginners.
I’ve always enjoyed Speyside whiskeys, not too peaty and very easy to drink, glen moray original is my go to for an affordable drink
A kindred spirit I see ! (Pun intended!)😂
Most Highland and Speyside are not smokey or peaty at all.
I really like the 12 year and cigar mash from their set.
The dalmore 15 has a great chocolate orange smell and taste
Highland Park 12 has a wonderful balance of dark fruit and honey flavors with a warming smokey finish. It’s not a sherry cask but appeals to my bourbon preference
Highland Park is definitely an approachable scotch!
Be aware, it’s got that smoky piety note quite present, but it’s my favorite ‘go-to’. Sweet enough to be approachable, piety enough to identify as a Scotch.
For Sherry-forward, I’d go for either the Macallan 12 Double Cask or the Balvenie Doublewood 12!
@@bpouelas Balvenie Carribean Cask is also a great sweeter scotch.
Glenlivet Caribbean!!!! Go go go!
The Dalmore Cigar Malt is amazing.
My favorite beginner Scotch back in the day was the Highland Park 12 year. But they changed the branding to something like "Viking Honour" and it's quite a bit different than what you could get back in 2010 or so. I still think it's fairly approachable, but it's not the homerun the old ones were.
Try the dalmore cigar malt!!!! It makes people fall in love!!
TJ - I’ll keep recommending Macallan… I know they’re pricey, but they’re my favorite scotches by a large margin because they are so light, clean and fruity tasting.
Glenlivet. And speyside basically. Those are what you want to go for if you want more fruit/floral palettes.
Caol Ila is nice, even fairly mellow once you get past your distaste of the coast :)
The Balvenie double cask, finished in Sherry. by far my favorite Scotch
Aberlour 16 was a fantastic entry into the scotch world for me
I'm honestly a big fan of Glenfiddich. It's actually very smooth in my opinion
You just pulled out my current favorite Highland Scotch to date! I 100% agree too - the balance of sweetness mellows our the maltiness. I just picked up the 15 year bottle with high hopes...
You should try the glenallachie 12/15 amazing flavors, fruitiness, and well balanced
I need some scotch content. Bourbon is always my second choice but I would love to see you review some common bottles once you get used to that flavor profile
Maybe the Auchentoshan Three Wood. Finished in bourbon, and two different sherry casks. " Blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin notes are present in our Three Wood. Fruit and syrup. Hazelnut with hints of cinnamon and lemon. A butterscotch sweetness adds to the overall complexity."
Balvenie 14 Caribbean Rum cask is one of my favorites and should please most bourbons drinkers.
This dude is chill
My suggestion isn’t one you’d find around America- highland park. I haven’t tried the full range but the 12 year seems the most popular
Glenallachie 12 is what I would recommend as an entry level & sherry forward scotch. It's unpeated & not overly malty. Sweet & fruity upfront with classic sherry notes. Finish is mellow with almost no burn.
Glenfiddich 12yo was my first scotch I tried and 10 years later it's still my favourite!
Me and My friend edward are watching this and as soon as he said irish he says”oh i’m irish”
One of my 2 favorite scotches
Dalmore Sherry Cask Select & Longmorn 16y
Glendronach is another very good sherry forward scotch. Just make sure the bottle you pick is marked Natural Color, and Non-chill filtered. As sadly in the world of scotch many distilleries will add E130 to artificially add a darker hue to mimic age.
That is one of my favorites.
Glenfiddich 12 & 15 Year Single Malt Scotches. Both aging years sound like they would be right up your alley
The Dalmore 12 Sherry Cask was the first Scotch I tried and I absolutely love it.
I rlly respect u fellas honing your niche channels. Interesting to see ur marketing scheme in action, educational
What is the word coming to? You like Scotch now?! My brain can’t handle it, HA!
I have some cask scotch… says deanston, 2008, aged 13 years. Really smooth and chocolatey to me, but ive had people break into tears having a sip of my drink, after i watered it down.
The Balvenie Caribbean cast is a good place to start…. All the Balvenieline is delicious. Oban is another that’s a must try
u are welcome for me recommending that , please try dalmore 15 next
Try Aberlour A'bunadh
I love your content
As a brit I tend towards the Sherry cask finished Speyside - I'd recommend trying tamdhu 10 year - about $40 a bottle and very mild sweet fruity/toffee notes
One of my favorite whisky
Macallan 12 sherry cask finish. It’s my favorite.
I think you would like the glenlivet Caribbean reserve, it’s scotch aged in a rum barrel
Yep
Aberfeldy! Great intro scotch.
The glenfiddich double oak is a really smooth dram
Not a great pour but cheap and decent
I loved GF 15 until they ruined it in sherry. Now they’ve gone woke and I don’t buy anything from William Grant & Sons.
Glenfiddich 12; has a lighter body but the floral and pear components are great. Great price too
I'll always vouch for Johnnie Walker Double Black. It's such an easy to drink scotch. In fact, it's probably the only scotch I've ever tried that I prefer to drink neat. It's also finished in Sherry casks, but the big selling point is that they're charred prior to being used to finish the scotch. The floral palate on that stuff is unbelievable, and there's so so much of a peat flavor on the back end that you'll still be feeling that smokiness for about a minute after you drink it. Notes of citrus, honey, and chocolate. It can be a bit hard to find, but it is entirely worth it, and if you can't, there are online vendors who sell 50mL bottles, which I would suggest unless you're very confident that you'll like it, considering the MSRP is about $50-55 for a fifth.
This is interesting because I absolutely love Scotch, Peat, and smoke.... So anytime you find a scotch that you like I typically know I can avoid it haha. I appreciate the service!
You MUST try a glenfarclas 21 year old. Great sherry taste, a real treat!
Aberlour A'Bunadh absolutely must try
Glenlivet 14 finished in cognac casks.
Bought this as a celebration bottle for my first home. Great choice.
Glenmoragie anything from them is fantastic
Definitely need to try Monkey Shoulder Scottish whiskey. Definitely a good choice!
Love monkey shoulder!
Glenfiddich used to market a 15y/o Solera, finished in sherry casks. tames the smoke and gives a slightly sweet tinge to the back of the tongue.
Dalmore has always been my favorite Scotch, picked up the 14yr a week ago. And I was thoroughly impressed, gotta give the 15yr a try next
GLENFIDDICH ORIGINAL 12. It's the green triangle bottle. Thank me later!!
Great recommendation…mild Sherry finish. Smooth….exceptional scotch. Blows Glenlivet 12 away
I'm surprised this is so far down, I love the flavor of glenfiddich 14. Its wonderful for cooking as well.
The nomad blended scotch is a good pick
Glenlivet 14 cognac cask. But what you need to do to break down that wall is get a bottle of Ardbeg 10, or Laphroaig 10 and just power through a glass. After that any other scotch you try will taste like 100% sweetness. Finish the bottle and you will never find Dalmore "smokey" again.
He’ll never take another sip of scotch if he jumps straight into Laphroaig 10. I drink scotch and I despise the super smoky, peaty, bog scotch. That stuff is downright foul.
Bought this bottle based on this video. It is the only scotch I have ever liked. Will try the Balvenie rum finished next
Definitely an arbelour, in particular give the abunadh a spin. It is 👌
Honestly my favorite to sip, it was love at first sight. Just behind it is monkey shoulder and Basil Hayden’s
If you can get it there, try Penderyn madeira welsh whisky they have won quiet a few awards for a small distillery
When it comes to scotch I have three rules.
1. Single malt
2. French Oak
3. Highlands
Scotches like this tend to be spicy and sweet.
I recommend Lagavulin 10, Glengoyne 10 or Glenlivet 15.
Enjoy!
Lagavulin is the best always, love that shit
Hell yes! Somebody else who recommends Lagavulin. Some of them are Sherry cask finished. If I ever win the lottery, the 26 year old special release Laga is gonna be mine!!!
Glenlivet 15 is great for a starter
I commented on a video earlier today and I'll say it again! Chivas regal 21 royal salute. Fucking delicious and the finish is phenomenal. As a scotch drinker I recommend it to all my good friends.
Arran Sherry Cask, i love it.
Glenmorangie Lasanta. It’s a nice scotch with a sherry cask finish. 😊
Auchentoshan American Oak is a good gateway whisky, not smoky or peaty or too challenging on the palette
Dalmore king Alexander is a must try if you have never had it. It is an amazing scotch whiskey
Macallan was my gateway to scotch. 10 or 15 yr. Both Sherry cask. I’m huge into the peated stuff now, but good luck getting there if you really have to have your whisky sweet.
Yep, I’m almost to the point that if it isn’t Islay, I don’t want it!
@@revolvermaster4939 What’s your go-to and what’s the best stuff you’ve ever had?
Go-to: Uigeadail or Port Charlotte 10yr (it’s a toss-up)
Favorite: Octomore 7.3
@@Or_else_it_gets_the_hose_again Uigeadail, Wee Beastie, Lore, 10, 1/4 Cask and Lagavulin 8 & 16 are what I drink 80% of the time. I’ve never seen Port Charlotte or Octomore. Lore & Uigeadail are my favorites.
@@Or_else_it_gets_the_hose_again can’t find Laphroaig Triple Wood or 18 anymore, well I’ve seen the 18, but at 6X what I used to pay for it, ain’t doing it.
I work in the alcohol selling industry and one I recommend is Aran malt Amarone cask. The fruitiness of the wine really came through and I think it’s the perfect starter scotch
Balvenie triple Cask is really smoothe
Glenmorangie Sherry Cask finished is great!
Do teeling whisky next!
Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or no doubt! It's sweet, fruity, easy to find 🥃
I will also second the Highland Park 12, nice honey-ish note that goes really nicely with the smoke.
Highland park 18, full volume, cask strength ❤❤❤❤❤
Macallan (Scottish distillery) does a sherry cask whisky... usually not cheap though
....or if you can find it, I'd recommend Penderyn single malt, from Wales 🏴
balvenie 14yr caribbean cask. It's my gateway scotch for my friends who like whiskey but not scotch. The rum makes its extra smooth and sweet. Then I move them to highland park 12.
Glenmorangie 12 year "The Lesanta" is great as well.
Try Balvenie 12 year Doublewood..$60. ❤
Glenmorangie Lasanta
Glenlivet founders reserve is my favorite.
Try Auchentoshan 12. It’s aged in ex bourbon and sherry barrels. You’ll love it.
If it's finished in a sherry cask it's right up my ally
A couple scotches you can try that may help you get used to the maltiness: Cardhu 12, Highland Park 10 ( not the 12, that’s too smoky), Glenlivet 15, Glenfiddich 12 (finished on bourbon casks), Arran 10, Aberlour 12, Glenmorangie 10
Try Glencadam 15- single malt, taste like the old ways, --its delicate, fruity, floral, softly agressive, pear, red apple, mild banana, lemon oil, little green ginger, unpeated--. no color aded non chill filtered
Very good pick.
Fellow Alabamian and bourbon lover here. The only scotch I’ve found so far that I like that’s readily available is Glenlivet double oak
