I bought the pw 325x and cooler For my first tig welder. The night I was setting it up I thought I was having issues so I called the number, of course it was after hours and no one answered so I hung up, the next morning the office of prime weld called my phone to make sure everything was good and I didn’t need anything! Thats going above the call of normal business and I am very impressed! Of course there was no issue, it was user error! lol. Just figured I’d share, thanks for the great tips and videos!
Thank you for the interesting video. I bought one of your tig control but haven't put it on yet. Hell, I haven't picked up a tig torch since 2016, I'm old and I don't want to rush into anything too quickly! LOL!!
I just got mine last week and I’m loving it works amazing I’ve got a lincon mig welder and the build quality on the prime weld is just as good if not better if you ask me good job primeweld
I have a Primeweld Tig 225x w/ watercooler & CK worldwide flex-loc water-cooled torch had it now for 3 years now and no complaints I do the same thing take a picture of the settings for what I'm doing.. this is my first Tig machine I couldn't justify scrolling through the menu to find what I was looking for wether it's blue, red, green they all have it what happens if it gets a back geed from AC welding? Hmmmmmm don't think they thought about it 😮😮😮😮😮😮 Thanks for the great tips over the years Aaron you and Justin, Jodie are the ones that I followed to teach myself to tig weld never looked back. Keep up the amazing content 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love my PrimWeld 325X also. Lots of control and easily adjustable with all parameters' using knobs. I do use an gas cooled torch capable of 200Amps that I have pushed to 325Amps for a short time. 👍
I liked the middle one best, I’d be happy with either of them. That 325 primeweld machine is priced very reasonably. I like your tig button, some day 255 ext.
i wish the 325 was out when i got my 225. sometimes that little umph starting out would be nice on thicker stuff but i cant complain regardless. especially for the price. at work we have the same miller dynasty and i honestly prefer the prime weld which i didnt expect when ordering. between the PW, flexloc, abiltiy to switch between pedal and your button quickly, and furick gas lenses its an unbeatable set up
My wife already told me that once I get to our new house and line up enough work I can add a tig button to my arsenal 😉 would love to use one and see the difference between always using the pedal for welding..
Great video, thanks! I just picked up a 325x and I'm really impressed with the build quality so far. I'm considering a project that would involve butt welding 1/2" 6061 plate together. Any advice or ideas for making that joint with this machine?
that's great. analog controls are so much better than hunting through digital computer screen programs! at work we have fronius 400 wire feed tig machines, and it's like a gameboy screen or something. for 25K you'd think they could come up with better controls...
I have a fairly “normal “ question; where was your ground clamped for this video? I have ground issues when doing aluminum like this (smaller pieces that can move around or if clamped to the table)? I do have a smaller set up table that I normally ground to and it works fine for everything else. Second question is a bit odd; I had a complete shoulder replacement this past D-Day. I’m finally back to being able to do everything I could prior, and a friend of mine who is a long time welder mentioned casually that I may be far more a candidate for shocks now when welding. He wasn’t breaking my balls or anything, he had said he had seen it happen in person and knew the guy getting the shocks had a whole bunch of metal in him. He said it was hilarious (my friend was welding a motorcycle frame and the guy getting zapped was holding the bike in place as it was being welded) of course, but mentioned that I should tread cautiously. Quick race bike fixes at the track are not in my future anymore, but I’m asking anyone that may have a clue. My doc and PT doc looked at me like I had small rodents crawling out of my ears when I asked them.
Man, you nailed it with that comment about changing things to justify their existence! I spend 30+ years in upper management and I can tell you, about 1/3 of staff do just that very thing. Especially if they have a cushy job and know they are just along for the ride contributing nothing to the overall success of their company. Make me want to puke!🤮
You are an artist, a true artist. I love your channel. My question is what are your opinions on the primeweld tig 325x vs the 225x? For a home hobbyist, who aspires to your level of craftsmanship, this is an important question, and i cant seem to find it answered adequately anywhere. Thanks.
I do have 225X it is good machine, but somehow complicated to set up for aluminum welding, don't have digital reading for individual setting like 325X have, just for amperage. Scale around knobs is not very helpful for fine settings. But no problem to dial for steel or stainless. If the 325X would be available when I made purchase I will rather have that machine. IMHO
@@milosusa Thanks for that. That's along the lines of what I remember seeing in a yt video some time back, maybe a year ago. But now that I'm about ready to make the purchase, I cant find that video again. I'm def leaning towards the 325X both for extra capability and the interface like you said.
@6061 How does the 325x compare to the higher end Dynasty's? I have a Synch200 and a Everlast 256. After welding with a buddies Dynasty 200 it seemed to start and run quite a bit smoother with the arc than my other tigs. I'm looking for a higher current tig at the moment, but how much difference is there in current control from the 325x , and say a Dynasty? I know the price points are opposite ends, but you would have personal experience with both.
I dunno... I changed the first "2" on my Primeweld 225 to a "3" with a perfectly color-matched paint pen, and I have yet to realize the difference. Should I do up the led display too?
6061, what do you do about the tiny sharp points at the puddle edge intersection with the top of the lap joint? I end up filing them down and putting a bit of chamfer to this area but don't think that looks as nice as leaving the 'as-welded' edge - except those sharp points aren't very nice to handle. Do you fill more to get a bit more bulge to the bead- to avoid that little sag along the top edge which forms the points??
You can add a bit more rod so it humps up higher if you want, or radius/pre-chamfer that top edge so the transition is smoother. 1/4" thick material is about as thick as you want to do a single-pass. Any taller/thicker, you'd want to probably do multiple pass (making your last pass barely hump up so there's no "undercut"). Hopefully that makes sense.
@@6061 Yeah, makes perfect sense. Thanks for the time to reply. I generally don't have many lap joints in thicker stock but when i do; I've either double passed or just slowed travel and added filler. (I use a cold wire feed TIG Gun so dialing up feed volume isn't hard). Still those doggone 'points' have been a pain in some jobs.
Do you find that higher amperage machine has poor arc stability on low amps AC? I have an everlast 325ext from 2015 and the arc struggles at around 20amps.
@@6061paraplegic motorsports TIG welder here… been using your tig button for couple years now. Legit game changer for me. Allows me to use my index, middle, and thumb… depending on position/reach.
The miller dynasty probably went with a screen because it makes for a lower parts count. They are probably pretty desperate to compete with less expensive imports. Soon they will either offshore their mfg (if they haven’t already) or fold like every other American mfg

glad to hear thats how they handled things. that how i expect it tbh. most companies dont care anymore.
I like the wider spacing, I'll consider the prime weld when my current machine dies. I too hate hidden menu's on anything!
Loved your comment about “someone trying to justify his job” by changing something that worked perfectly fine ! Ain’t that the truth 👍❣️
That accounts for about 90% of the "improvements" we see in products from corn flakes to rocket ships.

Great video Aaron! 🔥 Thank you! 💯 Your recommendation was the last thing I needed as confirmation to save up and get this machine 👍🏾

I'm the proud owner of a Primeweld 325, I like it
I definitely liked the second bead as well. It would be interesting to see a cut and etch to see if there is any difference in penetration.
Wider spacing looks better to me, but all your welds are beautiful
I'd prefer it with no ripples. A perfectly smooth weld.
I have their plasma cutter. Customer service is top notch
Nice mate, ill be looking at getting a new welder soon, i think this will be top of the list👌
You’ve sold me on the prime welder pity no one in New Zealand imports them that I’m aware of.
Dude, every time I think I'm getting better at laying aluminum dimes, you gotta make a video! 😆
Beautiful Aaron 💯
Great video as always
Great vid , can't say I agree with the anti update mentally,we would still be welding from a buzz box without it .
Have you seen the new yes welder DP200 ? 7 inch led screen
0:47 yea because this is so much better than having an actual GUI
Now I want one.

Great review. Always appreciate the info. Wider dabs for me. Just cosmetic.

Why are you not using the torch that came with the prime weld. I noticed the torch you’re using is a miller?

It depends on how thick of metal you are welding, and how often. For me, I need at least 300 amps and a water cooled torch.

Tighter spacing Always Looks better on Aluminum. I Always weld tight Ripple's look so Much nicer More professional!

The top and the middle! If I could weld half as good! 😂

How much pressure does actually take to use the tig finger? I almost cut my left index finger off in 2015 it’s there but no a lot of dexterity!
Not much. You can use your middle finger. I do quite often.
