  • I leased this tiller from Home Depot and gave me a hard time because of the lightweight so I added some weight to fix the problem and it did help to handle the tiller

I have this machine. It is excellent. Wheel needs to be UP. Drag bar needs to be DOWN full extend. My soil is wet clay! No extta wt needed

Thank you for the video. You convinced me not to give $1,500 for this. Honda should be ashamed to put their name on these smaller tillers and instead get more of their engines on the rear tine models of other brands as an upgrade from Briggs engines. Honda engines are the best. Next time please turn your phone sideways.

Seems like you don’t have your drag bar adjusted deep enough. I own this tiller and have never had an issue tilling in very hard compacted dirt and clay.

Jaffo...Can you offer me any pointers on technique possibly with this beast? I just rented this for the weekend. I am 70, and this thing was getting away from me today. One major down side is I am attempting it on a lawn area thats been scalped of most of the old veg, and somewhat compacted. Do I need to lean down on the bars more so the drag bar is really digging in and hopefully slowing it down? Otherwise, I guess I'll jury rig a harness so my body holds it back. Best regards, Rick

@@rickschultz5159 you should try slowing eating away layer by layer and slowly let your tines go deeper with the adjustment bar….for example like a lawnmower cutting tall grass you should start with your blades high away from the bottom of the grass so it’s less to cut then lower blades once’s the grass is lower and easier to cut…my grandfather is 79 and try’s to start deep every year and is all beat up from it so I broke the top layer first and then went in a Little Deeper and then my final passes I let that tiller go as deep as I could with having the depth gauge bar all the way out so it would go down I hope this helps

The wheels should be up while tilling

Gotcha, was having same issue until I adjusted the rear bar to sit lower and slows down tiller. No pro, just figured it out.

Put the wheels up and adjust the drag bar. Jeez. Follow instructions.

Funny stuff, find what you have available and bungy/rubber band it to the machine to make it work right. Sadly, this model is a PITA.
