Thank you so much for making this video. I was able to install a 2012 Mustang convertible steering wheel into a 2006 GT following your exact instructions with full functionality for volume control and title skip, and even nighttime illumination on the spoke buttons. Even substituting the PC motherboard USB header plugs in place of the expensive Ford WPT-440 Pigtails to route the button controls through the clockspring (the usb expansion slot with 2 of those plugs cost me $6 USD on Amazon). My installation however routes from the 2nd clockspring socket over to an Axxess ASWC-1 Steering wheel control interface, which it attached to a Parrot Asteroid Smart headunit via a 3.5mm input headphone plug Purple wire in the steering wheel harness routes to White/Green on the Axxess interface harness, while the Yellow from the steering wheel harness goes to chassis ground. Whats the nighttime illumination color suppose to be on the spoke buttons? Are they blue? The old steering wheel was green. Much nicer and more modern steering wheel however, and i'm thrilled to have radio controls on the wheel again.
Using the aswc-1, did you still ground the green & blue wires along with the yellow wire? I'm trying to use the same interface with my metra mf-9500-1 with key-1 & key-2 wires.
@Jason Garcia Depends on the car. Go to axxessinterfaces.com/ and use the vehicle fitment guide and look at the vehicle specific PDF document This will tell you which color wires to use off the Axxess interface harness. I used the axxess specs For a 2012 Ford Mustang since axxess specs for a 05/06 mustang did not exist. it's White/green and yellow to ground. It's different for every car. i basically fooled the axxess interface into thinking it was in a 2012 mustang instead of a 06. My audi before it were both pink wires (pink-white, pink-blue). from there you would use the 3.5mm headphone jack coming out of the axxess interface and plug the 3.5mm female pigtail with the two loose brown wires, those two brown wires will go to your key1 and key2 of your radio harness. Once you solder those wires together. Don't forget to push the button on the axxess interface with a paperclip, it will go into an autodetect mode and try to figure out which wires you're using.

Hey Paul. Great video. Question, what do the Key1 and Key2 wires do? Do they just provide power to the buttons or do they carry data? I've got a Seicane Model:H228G and the wiring document in the manual only has a Key1 wire...

I have a 2012 mustang and I want to install a 2015 steering wheel on it. It seems the wheel will fit fine almost directly plug and play, but from the diagrams I’ve seen, it looks like the only thing that would be needed to do is use the 2012 main harness, (connecting box) removing the previous wires from it. And wire the 2015 main harness (wires) into the 2012 (empty harness box) for a direct plug and play... I’m by no means an electrician nor a mechanic, but maybe you can help me with this theory and give me some input, I’d greatly appreciate it!
