      naijaflavor60 it’s a sleeper considering people expect to run into a car that runs low 14s to high 13s with a good driver. When in reality it has a super charger and should be deep 12s

    Good alternative for people who can't afford a newer stang.You can pick one of these up with decent mileage and condition for like $9,000-$15,000 and a good supercharger is only about $5,000 all said and done. Good job David!

    Say whatever you like about this car, but its the reason that there is a Camaro and a Challenger again. After 2002, other than the Terminator, the American Muscle/Pony car scene didn't have much to offer. The S197 reopened the market. Made everybody step their game up. Just like the original. It's great to be an American car guy today, we are in a great era.

    • @richardlacourse2944

    • @richardlacourse2944
      @richardlacourse2944 5 лет назад +3

      Mark evans, apparently you can start it by yourself, there was no competition when the terminator came, camaro disappeared for how long, and where was the challenger, hmmm, chevy and everyone else jumped on the bandwagon after,

    • @markevans658
      @markevans658 5 лет назад +4

      Richard Lacourse the Terminator is a great car but it didn’t start the horsepower wars. It’s pretty much universally accepted that the S197’s sales numbers triggered Chevrolet and Dodge to jump back in the game at all, Then GT500 was answered initially by the limited SRT Challenger and it took Camaro a couple more years to bring out the ZL1. The Terminator had nothing to do with any of that. Still a good car though.

    • @richardlacourse2944
      @richardlacourse2944 5 лет назад +5

      The s197 brought retro back to muscle car scene, it didnot bring horse power until 2007, to think the terminator had nothing to do with it is wrong, i own a cobra and a S197, the S197 is a good car and i like it, but its not the same, and im done, have a good day,

    I've got to say, after owning a 4.6 s197 for 9 years. (2006 White GT Premium Manual, and my current car 2008 Bullitt), They're not that bad. For what it is, the 4.6L 3V is solid. It's not impossible to drive hard around corners, the power isn't bad, and it's not a dog. The engine responds to mods well, and they're not as heavy as 5.0's. They're user friendly and solid. Not saying the improvements made to the 5.0's are nominal or worthless. They're not, but the S197 4.6's are not bad cars, hard to drive, or Dogs by any means. It's still a driver's car. I'm looking to get a 5.0 next year, but I'm keeping my Bullitt and planning to keep modding it.

    Having owned both a 3 valve and Coyote Mustang, It's hard for me to say ones 'better' than the other. The Coyote definitely has more potential overall and is stronger out of the box,.. but I've seen modded 3 valves making 350 n/a horsepower and 1500+ hp on boost. (Built of course) I say this subjectively but I think I even prefer the sound of the 3 valve over the Coyote. If you have a 3 valve and love the genre? you are not hurting. Love the Coyote though too so.. well... choices! I'll shut up now. :)

    the 2005 Mustang is still the best looking, a Coyote motor doesn't excuse the ugly styling of the 2011-2016 Mustangs, it makes me sad, they had perfection with the first S197 body, couldn't they just add the coyote and IRS on the older body?

  • @camyota
    @camyota 2 года назад

    Not a big 05-09 guy but I love the 10-14(especially the 13/14) and the interior is part of what makes the car for me. It's cheap like a classic. There's absolutely no need for a fancy interior, I'd be happy with sheet metal for that matter. The s550 has nothing for me except for a little more power stock and auto rev match.

    You should make a video on turbos vs. supercharged cars

    • @twistedtaipan3862
      @twistedtaipan3862 6 лет назад

      Turbo: adjust power on the fly with boost controller, better top end, but generally less reliable and more expensive to do right.
      Supercharger: no way to adjust power on the fly, better bottom end, but generally more reliable and less temperamental.
      I prefer superchargers(specifically twin screw) because they're simple and they seem like the best bang for buck.

    Dude your videos are great, we own 3 stangs in my family, my brothers 06, my dads 08 convertible and my 13, needless to say they're all GTs. I completely agree with you, once you drive a coyote it's hard not to notice the little deficiencies on the 4.6, but they are still pretty sweet cars and a lot of fun to drive. Keep up the good work!!!

    I had a 2006 4.6, now a 2016 5.0. 4.6 was better for burn outs and the stock exhaust sound (gurgle). I liked the look of the 2006 better but the 2016 is more refined. I like this reviewer.

    I have a thought. The first motor blew because you probably shouldn't be sending 470 WHP through a stock bottom end. Almost anything over 450-460 crank horsepower, is asking for trouble. Sure you may get away with putting a new stock motor back in and it will survive for a while, but that much power isn't good for a stock bottom end.

    Love my 05, with 63k on it. I haven't had to replace anything on it until now; it'll need a clutch this year. I'm going to upgrade it to a Spec stage 2 or 3 with a lightened flywheel. Since I gotta take the drive shaft out, parts of the exhaust, I'm just going to upgrade those as well. I'm ordering LT headers, H pipe, with high flow CATs carbon fiber shaft, and a tuner. I already have a throttle body and CAI, (that I have yet to install). Once the weather breaks, its gonna get done. That's how I roll with my S197.

    I truly wish I bought this vehicle as my first car a little over a year and a half ago... I regret it almost every day, because I grew up idolizing the '05-'09 Mustang GT's and wanted one ever since... However, I've gotten too used to the luxury and interior quality of my current vehicle which sucks because now I don't think I'll ever get to experience the car I grew up idolizing, but instead I plan to buy the 2020 HPP Ecoboost next year. Every now and then though, I think about if I should just buy one of these instead still to live out that life long fantasy.

      William Pritchard Not excellent.
      Remember my B16?
      That ate shit, it wont start and it's puffing smoke, I'll try to figure it out tommorow.
      And I took the Civic(not the FN2) apart again, I was noticing that the body was flexing too much in the corners and I found out why.
      There was rust hiding where the back seats were.
      If the engine actually is crapped up, I'm thinking about turning the car into a drag car and then getting a Miata for the track, but that's just me thinking outloud.
      Or I just use the Civic as a weekend toy, y'know something I can drive to and on the track.
      I'm also thinking about a 3-stage VTEC engine, but I dunno.
      I don't know actually what I'm gonna do.

    • @Proff0ak
      @Proff0ak 9 лет назад

      William Pritchard Well, the previous owner didn't care about the car, and it's really crappy that you have problems aswell.
      I don't know if your car is fuel injected or not, but if it is, that could probably be why you're losing acceleration.
      Your transmission is clunking probably because it's been through a lot of miles, but those older Honda transmissions are decent, so it could be the transmission mounts aswell.
      I found out about a hidden EK gem recently, and that just might be my next daily driver.
      The problem is, it's pretty rare and most of them are in Japan.
      If you're wondering what it is, it's an EK3 VTi.

    • @Proff0ak
      @Proff0ak 9 лет назад

      William Pritchard You should also check the fuel pump and even the car's computer, but that's assuming that the engine is not getting enough fuel.
