    Thanks for the video! but shouldn't the derivative of f(x) = 1/(x+1) be equal to -2/(x+1)^2 instead of -1/(x+1)^2. I know this isn't the case for this video, but I am just wondering what is right :)

      No, recall that the derivative of 1/(x+1) is equivalent to taking the derivative of (x+1)^(-1). Taking the power rule and applying the chain rule gives -1 * (x+1)^(-2) = -1/(x+1)^2.
