Apart from being my uncle, Navin mama and his younger brothers are the people who inspired me to love and take up music. I still remember going to his home in Darjeeling during holidays and festivals and taking a lot of the cassettes from his music collection after he and Pravin mama had already moved to Kathmandu. I remember Navin mama giving me the Cadenza album, If you dont mind again on my 13th birthday and me playing that cd over and over again till I understood a bit of it. Great musician, awesome relative and an inspiration, not just for me but to a lot of musicians in Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
Yo Sir la ham lai danger Pittthyo yar drum chutya jasto. Darr Lagdo sir. I was so afraid to touch the instrument because I thought if I made a mistake chutai khancha. I never liked him and other teachers In Elites, They were all about slapping and Punishing more than teaching and helping.
All the kids who grew up in the 90's and early 2000's were disciplined by a little thrashing by our parents and teachers. That was a very important part of our childhood because the way we were disciplined helped us a lot to become the people that we are today. Be thankful that you learnt music from such great people. Not everyone is as fortunate as you. I hope you turned out to be a successful person even though you sound like bitch right now.
