    As a European, despite what I've heard has been going on in US high schools in relation to guns, US high schools still look fun, awesome and interesting at the same time. Heck, even from watching this video, this high school already looks better than the high school that I went to! This to me looks like the kinda place you wanna spend at least a year in :)

But you'll need a lotta money to get such an education.. I feel lucky to have enjoyed it for a span of three years in A South Indian school. Yet after that I really missed it alot.. The point is, there are schools with such infrastructures but they come with a huge cost as fee.. While the middle and lower lvl schools are kinda like 8am-6pm based schools with studies and a little bit of sport that's it..

We have to learn everyday and we have homeworks every single day(especially in the weekend when we have more homework because we have more time to study. We can't use our phones in the school and we don't have tehnology in any school. The teachers are gonna punish you if you are using a modern device in the clases and sometimes in the break. This is my dream definition of school life. Especially at 10:00 where everyone just comes together and cheers for their friends or favorite team. That spirit of togetherness. I'm a senior high schooler here in Malaysia (Grade 12) and we don't get such things.. being an Asian country, it's mostly just study study study, score your As and you're good. There are some after-school activities available but they definitely don't come close to the scale of the activities of you guys' schools. The high school experience in both our countries are vastly different. Anyway... I hope you enjoy your high school life there

Today, I needed to prepare a presentation for my students about the daily life of an American high school student, and I picked your video! Woow, amazing video, you have no idea how interesting is this video to a student in Europe :) Your school is huuuge (and your friends are kinda weird haha). We don't have the same classes here in Hungary (Advisory, for example, to be honest, I don't really know what's that exactly, but it looks really interesting!) and we are not this close with our teachers (which is so sad btw). But we have history here too, and that's my fav subject too! :)
    We never take quizzes, only essays or normal "tests" (question-answer) and our classrooms are much much smaller. It is also very interesting to see the hype for football, I know that it is a big thing in the US, unfortunately, in Hungary, we don't really have much to be hyped for ... :(
    Anyway, loved the editing, keep up the good work!

    Great video! We are students from a German middle school and we watched the video in our English lesson. We think its's really interesting to see how an average day in the life of an American student really is. First of all, the school and the area you live in looked really nice, all the students seemed really fun and the teachers really supportive.
    What we also noticed is that you have Apple PCs. Our school has very old and slow PCs.
    Also, our school is significantly smaller than yours since we have less students (about 700-880). We also have to pay for lockers but they're still third the size of American lockers. The classrooms are different as well. Our first lesson starts at 8:00 am and ends at 1:15 pm. We´ve got two 15-minute breaks and there we can go to the Kiosk and buy some food. It´s very expensive there. You’re lucky you have a great cafeteria. We have wide tables for two people. So we can cheat from each other😉.
    But similarities are that both schools have no dress code.
    We would like to ask you how long the time between school and the football matches is. What do you do in that time? We would also like to know how often the football team has to play matches and if there is a special day for those matches. If you could change something at your school, what would it be? Thank you for showing us a day in your life! Greetings from Germany!

      @LucasKultBanout  Год назад +9

      Hi! Thanks for watching my video :) It's awesome that you all are tuning in all the way from Germany!
      The football teams plays once a week in the fall and games are about 4 hours after school ends at 3:11 pm.
      Overall I absolutely love my school, but I think if I could change one thing I would make the school lunches way healthier.

    I just got to say that I read the comments prior to watching the video and was expecting something really over the top when actually a typical day this high school is no different than when I attended high school in South Carolina in 1978. The only visual difference is of course technology and we used lockers instead of backpacks. But the overall classrooms, gyms, cheerleaders, football games, pep rallies, football stadiums and track fields are the same. We also had students walk to school but like myself, a large amount of students drove their own car..... thanks for the memories ❤️

    Very interesting! I also go to high school in the USA, but it’s so different. My school is for kids 12-21 who were kicked out of public school and/or need daily therapy. No one goes to school with siblings, no one walks to school (I ride a school bus for an hour). My class is 7 kids, in 9th and 10th grade. We start every morning with a meeting with the other 9th/10th grade class. The teachers tell us our schedule for the day, what teachers and students are absent, and what events are coming up. Then, my class of 7 goes to science class. 4 of us are taking chemistry and 3 are taking biology in the same class. 3 days a week, our next class is group therapy. Once a week we take music appreciation or art, and once a week we take a class on being a disabled adult. After 2nd period, we have a 10 minute break. My class tends to walk around the school and chit chat. 3rd period is history. We mainly have discussions about current events, but we sometimes talk about historical stuff. 4th is English class. Each year, everyone reads a book by grade level. This year the middle schoolers read The Giver and the high schoolers are reading The Crucible. 5th period is math. 3 of us are doing geometry, and the other 4 are doing algebra 1. Next we have lunch. From October to April, we get to choose between eating in our home room or eating in the art room. The rest of the year, we also have the choice to eat outside. After lunch, we split up into our elective classes. 3 days a week we take interest classes, though there are requirements still. I’m currently taking cooking and woodworking as 7th and 8th period respectively. Twice a week we take a gym class, though most options aren’t really gym. I’m currently taking drivers ed. and gym classes last 7th and 8th periods. Once 8th period is over, we reconvene in our home rooms. Then, we get dismissed to our busses home.

    2012 alum here. OP represent! GO HUSKIES!
    The more things change, the more they stay the same. I was there when they first installed those screaming clocks.
    It's interesting to me to hear the different bell. I'm a bit of a school bell/PA system geek; can anyone identify what system they use now based on that bell tone?
    The fire alarms at OPRF were the WORST. Evil. I hated them. I see they still have at least a few of the vibrating horns (the ones that buzz), but it looks like they've upgraded to a few electric horns (the ones that "screech" or "shriek") as well. I only had one class at OPRF that had an electric horn in the classroom. I always hated that they didn't just switch the whole system to speaker/strobes with voice evacuation, even though they clearly _had_ a voice evacuation system that they used for tornados and lockdowns.

    • @LucasKultBanout
      @LucasKultBanout  3 года назад +2

    I’m a 6th grader in middle school currently. I watched this video since I really wanted to see how high school would be like and the experiences of it. And it does look pretty different from what we do in MS. Like we have advisory in the afternoon before our 4th and 8th periods. Our classes are split between days. Our first 4 classes are in one day, being classified as an A day. Then we have our next four classes the next day, which we call a B day. But I believe every public MS has that. We also watch CNN 10, but during our cultural study classes only.

    Hi there Lucas! I’m from India 🇮🇳. The American high school is definitely 💯 part of the American dream. One thing I’ve noticed is that in the American school system, people choose to study subjects based on their interests and passions and therefore they’re just so much more involved in what they do and how they spend time at school, being purposeful in spending their time on they find “cool”. Here in India, the choice of education is more inclined towards societal value and doing certain things because it’s a proven field like engineering, medicine, finances and law. One thing that I’ve sure to take away from your video is that, being optimistic on every day and going to school to make sure you get to progress and learn something new that you deem cool, that’s the best anyone can take from their school days.

    • @LucasKultBanout
      @LucasKultBanout  11 месяцев назад +2

      When I went there from 2000 - 2004, it was Sophomores to Seniors that could go out too. When my brother went there some years later, he said they basically couldn't do anything anymore. Students had to wear their IDs, they canceled Morps, no one could leave anymore for lunch. Sounded like a jail to me. I don't see them going back to what it was before. BTW. when I was there there were Morps (casual Proms, Prom spelled backwards). But people started doing sexual things in the dark, so then they made it so we had to keep the lights on, and by the time my brother got there, they canceled them entirely.

    By the way, if you really didn't know, that song that was playing was the school's fight song or Loyalty song. Haha.
    " We're loyal to you Oak Park High,
    We're orange and blue, Oak Park High.
    We'll back you to stand 'gainst the best in the land,
    For we know you've got sand, Oak Park High.
    Rah! Rah!
    Go crashing ahead, Oak Park High!
    Go smash that blockade, Oak Park High!
    Our team is a fame protector, Run, team for we expect
    A victory from you, Oak Park High!"
    I memorized it because I was in sports there (Cross Country, and Swimming). Also, probably because our Principal at the time was an elder (Sue Bridge).
    You are correct about how old the song sounds, because I'm sure it is from pretty early in the school's history.
