There is genuinely nothing more hopeless feeling than trying to get a super obscure thing working in Mame. I’ve spent days sometimes
TLG in the Vinny comments, woah, feels like a crossover episode lol
There is. Trying to get an obscure Amiga game or program working in UAE. And then trying to run something different (for those who don't know, if you set up UAE so that one game/program works well, often different one will not even boot on the same settings).
That just sounds like a terribly designed program
@@ryanb8302 once I found out about FBAlpha I never looked back
@@eternalreturnal As good as FB Alpha is, it lacks 3D game support, and doesn't have everything. It's best way to play Data East and Capcom games for sure though.
This is probably the first Plug and Plague I have seen that I have actually played. Big nostalgia value.
Same! I especially loved that you could switch the joystick's place to the left.

I still can't believe an officially licensed plug n play had it.
Wonder if this just flew under Nintendo's radar at the time, or if Miyamoto saw the product and laughed himself to sleep
@@Atylonisus They were prolly too busy beating up the dev of a free fan game in a back alley to notice a legitimate legal issue. Kinda how they ignore all the blatant mobile game stuff.

Random fact: when I was like five or six, I wanted one of these.
My dad got an Xbox 360 for us instead. Looking back, I think this was for the better.
I'm curious what gamer the other you would be, or if they'd give up lol

@@gaminglol1167 Yeah if I was 3-5 it would have been good enough for me, it looked functional and the sound wasn't unbearable.
Had a vsmile, and i never used it often. Was more of a DS/Wii person anyway
It's awesome to hear Vinny take a dump all over my earliest gaming memories.

Imagine the poor parent that probably spent money on this for their child to be entertained and then ends up constantly bombarded with loud "BLUEBLUEBLUEYELLOWREDBLUEBLUEBLUEYELLOWGREENBLUEBLUE" being heard in the living room.
Edit: I see Vinny made this remark a bit after writing this haha
These are rare to find because most parents took these out back for rapid disassembly.
Not to mention seeing KKK appearing in the game.
aaaaand thats why i had my own crt tv in my bedroom XD
I actually had this and the portable as a child and my parents enjoyed me playing it because they thought other video games were violent and they didn't want their daughter to suffer. I usually played it with the volume down because I was embarrassed. My parents actually would WATCH me play it and cheer me on to specifically embarrass me.
These games were on physical cartridges and there was a compartment on the system that fit up to 8 cartridges in them (2 rows, 4 cartridges per game). I played the shit out of Shrek 3, Alphabet Park Adventure, Noddy, Dora, and Cinderella. I experienced evisceral joy every birthday I got a new one. It was actually really good for the demographic and I got cracked as hell at platformers.
43:34 I like when Vinny wants to go so fast through the baby games that he actually ends up playing like a 5 year old, that Batman gameplay was toddler worthy 👌
when i was really little i only had a leapfrog and a v-smile and i thought all video games were like that. one day i went over to my cousins house and they were playing lego star wars on the wii and it blew my mind
I had a similar experience, I had a bootleg plug and play in the shape of an n64 controller (didnt know that at the time) with a ton of nes games on it. This was when the gamecube and ps2 was a thing but I had no idea games other than 8 bit ones existed.
@@ryanb8302 Oh dude, I also had a bootleg n64 controller console. I had a lot of fun with it, even though I already owned a SNES and a real N64 lmao
40:10 Let's go. Fuckle up.
I had a lot of nightmare fuel from the first game just bc of the kids falling and going "aa AAA NOOOOO!!!"
AND THE CLIMBING SOUNDS
I HATED THAT IT WAS SO WEIRD LOL
Good to know I wasn't the only one
The creepy factory TERRIFIED ME when I was little
The toy level was the thing of my nightmares are I remember being terrified of it for absolutely no reason

43:47 i like how when vinny starts smashing the buttons it sounds like Batman is saying NUT at times....BatNut 🦇

Uh oh.

Hold the phone 🤨
....
This device was literally my intro to gaming. Wow crazy to see it on here of all places
43:34 onwards had me in stitches. The cacophony of fart sounds and beeps coupled with the disjointed narrator had me laughing so hard I couldn't breath
4:30 this is NOT the type of learning adventure i wANT to go on
This is gonna sound suspect... but that's actually the third time the KKK has come up for me today (I can explain why and I have no fondness towards the group IRL, for the record)
@Tanner Gates Holy shit it's Wakka's alt account.
@HenryStudioCA its a sign, bro. Time to put on the white robe of your destiny.
What gets me is how angry Vinny sounds
@Ambrose Donth in his mind, it was a baseball reference
3:17 The timing makes it seem like the narrator is the one throwing the ball. "Watch your head! *BONK!*"
22:42 that soundboard diseased gnome fart genuinely spooked me while I had this on the background
Edit: I really do love/hate how much the Batman voice sounds like Vinny’s “Diaper Chief” voice lmao
I love that you can hear Vinny preparing to do it earlier because he laughs before he even does it. 22:35 specifically
Unironically I learned more from regular video games than I did from the V-Smile. The V-Smile didn't teach me to read, Zelda did. The V-Smile didn't teach me to do math, Paper Mario did. The V-Smile didn't teach me about George W Bush's propaganda machine and America's bloodlust for oil, Guitar Hero: World Tour did.
I thought that last one was going to be metal gear.
Using Minecraft to learn logic gates
@@rompevuevitos222actually Minecraft is not a bad tool for teaching kids can learn to become builders
These things can actually be worse for a child's learning because they gate skill development to such low levels. Kids who had Leapfrogs were worse at language skills for example because nobody in real life uses such simple sentence structure and short words so regularly. In real life kids are exposed to a variety of different vocabularies, dialects, and contexts that span from grunting like an ape to explaining ego death in precise language. Meanwhile those toys isolate each individual facet, pare them down as much as possible, and prevent them from interacting. You can't divorce teaching a skill from using a skill the way so many "childhood development toys" end up doing.
@@ahmadmalaki8364 There is actually an entire version of Minecraft dedicated entirely to edutainment.
Go to 32:32 for Vinny's reaction to the Shrek game plagiarizing Zelda music. It also stole Saria's Song in a later level, and the boss music from SAGA Frontier
Which song from SaGa Frontier? Last Battle T260G?
The gameplay is just DK to be fair
@@ThelronFjord just the base battle music. Looped the first bit of melody. Ah Ah happy others recognized it.

Bob The Builder fixing the leaking pipes with the landlord method.
Like vinny pointed out at 28:45, the way the different voice clips are meshed makes it kinda sound like they just jerk their heads a lot closer to the mic for specific words that they REALLY want you to hear
this entire stream sent me like 15 years into the past holy fucking shit i REMEMBER having one of these things, hearing the alphabet park menu screen i swear made me have a ratatouille moment

22:46 one of the most legendary nose farts i’ve ever heard
I wasn't allowed to have any sort of console growing up besides this because of the edutainment factor. Still, I have fond memories playing the V-Smile a lot; Alphabet Adventure Park was THE game since it gave me a good challenge on the hard difficulty.
Thank you Binyot for playing these crazy games on this weird console that holds the earliest memories of my gaming childhood
The way the guy in the Word Worm game said MUG! was really good.
22:00

God I remember playing this as a kid, alphabet park unlocked some sleeper cells in my brain, B! F! G! WATCH YOUR HEAD! GREEN YELLOW GREEN YEL-YEL-GREEN!
Hearing Zelda in a Shrek game is SUPER unexpected lol
10:26 rare footage where we see Vinny almost transforming into daffy duck
Donkey sounds like Eddie died before Shrek two, so with what limited technology they had back in the day they tried to replicate his voice, and this is the product
My jaw actually dropped when i heard the zelda music in the officially license shrek game
even now I still get emotional when I hear old kids games complimenting me. besides that, this was fun to watch
4:33
Ah, yes. The Krusty Komedy Klassic
37:07 i'm pretty sure shrek's voice is literally just audio from the movies
Then I guess you could say that the movie actor voices the game lol
Vinny got genuinely pissed when he saw that KKK on the screen.
I imagine it was a complete coincidence and that Vinny rolled the 1/26 odds to have the first letter chosen to be a 'K'. Pretty funny.
Probably scared that twitch might ban him for it why he freaked
@@MrWolfSnack You're imagining scenarios in your head again, lad.
My little brother had this growing up cause my parents thought they could just throw a edutainment console at him and he'll just learn. I lived upstairs and had to hear him mashing BLUE YEL YEL GREEN GR YE BLU BLUE GREEN. This was a nice trip down trauma lane.
I freakin' love Cranium.
Vinny finally plays REAL baby games
I had this growing up. Deadass I would play the SpongeBob one all day
4:32 this reminds me of the simpsons krusty komedy klassic joke that i didn't get when i was a child
Was it really necessary to add a ᵀᴹ on Supermanᵀᴹ's health bar? 1:05:28
6:55 kinda sounds like part of the AVGN theme
“He’s the angriest gamer you’ve ever heard”
This is super nostalgic. Thanks Vinny for checking this out! I enjoyed every second!
The vsmile was my first gaming experience. I had a Barney game, Cinderella, the little mermaid, Care Bears, and other ones I don’t remember. I remember loving it. I think I played it everyday until I was just actually too old and it was a babi game to me. Can’t wait to watch Vinny shit all over it.
Note: Watch this after smoking a joint for the best results
They used to publish two versions of many games, the actual game and a stripped hack educational version, for example for the spongebob movie game
These Plug and Plague episodes are very funny. Please keep making them Vinny.
10:41 this fucking logo gave me whiplash
Surprised that Vinny apologized about being mean to Barney. I remember that people HATED Barney in the 90s. You can see this in some of the pop culture from the time. There's even an entire movie starring Robin Williams about hating Barney.

I miss the days when educational games were quite magical...,. I mean, Educational Series like Reader Rabbit, JumpStart, The LeapFrog learning toys of the past (including the Leapster and other devices) and even educational games based on Licensed Properties were all quite magical, and they had a charm that you don’t see in newer educational games released nowadays...
Heck, even the V-Smile was quite magical too, even if I didn’t play it!
Some even featured Charles Martinet as a voice actor too! You know, the voice of Mario, Fowl Mouth (Cel Damage), that big-ol dragon from Skyrim, and more recently, a Dragon Ball character! Yeah, he actually played a voice in some educational games!
I grew up with everything 😂 v smile, ps2, ds, psp, wii
That Shrek Zelda thing reminded me of something Jules Conroy mentioned in one of his Speedruns.
It in was his video titled “you would not believe what stole ocarina of time’s music”.
now he needs to do the leapster.
4:31 mega bruh moment
Really Nostalgic for me, my earliest introduction to video games was my GBA, Game Cube, and the Vsmile lol
I contributed the segment's logo and suggested the VSmile in the first place. I'm really glad to be a part of Vinesauce history, even if I had to spam chat for two hours (sorry mods!)
you’re part of vine history bro
I used to have a VSmile. What a blast from the past, it might have been one of my first 'game consoles'
i owned one of these as a child - several, actually. i think we still actually have it in our garage somewhere.
i had a pink version that had some kind of drawing part where the big button was. used to play a bunch of these games as a kid. so glad these aren't lost media.
Holy shiiit. These games are some buried early childhood memories for me, specifically the Shrek one and some Spider-Man ones.
4:40 cancelled moment
I actually remember playing that SpongeBob game, and now, after seeing Vinny play it, I eminently just question my sanity on how did I manage to play the damn game.
4:04 unlocked a core memory of being a young child and being extremely pissed at this specific part of the game
i used to make a heavily caddicarus-inspired comedic game review series back when i was around 14 in 2016, and i did an episode on v-smile. i played the hell out of this as a kid.
what's so funny about the shrek zelda music ripoff thing is that because i was primarily a playstation kid aside from v-smile, i didn't find out about the lost woods theme until i was much older. so i was very confused hearing that for the first time
This is such a fucking deep cut holy shit. I had the displeasure of playing this abomination as a child and the only thing I could remember about it was it's ugly controller. Great vid Vin 😂
I actually had this as a little child.
Major nostalgia for alphabet park
Holy shit I used to own this!!! Seeing the picture of the physical console unlocked vaulted memories.
I remember loving the Finding Nemo and Toy Story 2 ones as a kid.
My younger brother got this for his birthday in like 2007 and this brought back some nostalgia that I didn’t even realize wasn’t a fever dream
My brother has one of these cursed devices, can't remember what cartridge he had for it but good goddamn it was anything but educational.
I remember this and being absolutely terrified by the games when I was young
The Legend of Zelda: Tears from the Onions
Insanely underrated comment.
@@LillyWhiteFairy Thanks :)

Felling like that critic from Ratatouille right now with the nostalgia trip this is giving me.

Everyone feeling nostalgia for this.
And then there’s me, the Leapster kid.
"Skip count by 5's"
???? was this game made for supergeniuses? I don't have the slightest clue what they meant there
It's supposed to be multiples of 5 but they worded it the worst way possible
You know, when I heard people making fun of Vinny playing "baby games", I didn't realize they meant actual baby games.
I do NOT remember the voices in Alphabet Adventure sounding like some ultra low budget 90s anime dub.
I think there's two different versions with different voices
@@reallyawiimini Now that I think of it, I believe I got the later version that had different characters.
had this growing up, did NOT make me smarter
I feel blessed to have grown up with quality edutainment games (e.g. Magic School Bus, Star Wars Droidworks).
