Hi Tony I really enjoyed this video on the Bauhong paper and the differences between the 3 types. I have used it before but I found the rough to be way too rough for me. I am a recent convert to Saunders Rough, if I ever try the bauhong paper again I’ll go for the medium. I’m not a fan of smooth or hot press either.
Thanks for watching, Vicki. The more I use it, the more I dig it. There seems to be a shortage of Saunders at the moment so this’ll come in handy for sure. P.s how funny am I!?!?! Hahah
I love, love, love the Baohong papers and have abandoned painting on Arches or other papers. I do love the rough, but I usually do pet commissions on the cold press. I torture my paper and scrub and use the Magic Eraser, and layer, all day long. It just takes whatever I can throw at it. I buy the Academy grade and it is wonderful. I might have to try the "Artist" grade but I can't imagine a more perfect paper for my style of paper abuse.
Hi Tony. I bought two each ofAcademy by Baohong, (doesn't say masters) of Temu. Smooth and Rough. About $16 for a pad of 20. Green cover, 260x180. Rough good. Smooth I didn't like. Temu is great, you can send back if not opened. I did that for the unopened Smooth one.
So even a year later, this appears to be the only review of Masters Choice. Ive used the hot press artists grade just to try it as I don't like Arches HP and looking for a new paper. Thomas Schaller raves about the Masters Choice rough and it seems to have qualities I'd love so I put a pack of sheets in my cart from Jerry's. Very impressed with the price compared to my Saunders Waterford rough so I came to RUclips get the scoop and I'm excited to pull the trigger.
I just discovered this paper.i bought the professional fell in love with it.watched a couple of videos on utube and ordered the student paper to give it a try.
Good demo Tony. All Baohong paper? I only use arches rough but used some smooth today as a play around. Wow, it was like going back to kindy. Don’t like it. Love love love rough.
The rough is where it’s at, that’s for sure. I honestly think it’s the best option, but yeh, very keen to paint on the medium as well. Thanks for watching.
Glad to find this review. I'm just learning and on a budget i think I'll give this a go as I paint a lot but am not particularly good so I need something that is relatively cheap. Useful review.
It’s really well priced here in Australia compared to others. It’s always a preference of mine to prioritise paper quality. It’s all getting quite expensive these days though. Thanks for watching.

Yeh, I'm getting used to them for sure. I just got a supply of the Medium which I'm digging as well. Love it... ':). Thanks for watching... :) Tony

Awesome Morgen. Great to see. You’ll love it. Thanks for watching.
Got it. Love it. Thanks again!

Yep. It’s amazing stuff. Love it. Thanks for watching. :)
Hi Tony...
Yep...am using this paper, both medium and rough and find them excellent to work with!
Great stuff. Yep, gotta get me some medium but I love the rough, that’s for sure. 😊 what had you been using previously?
@@TonyWhiteWatercolour I was using Saunders Waterford

Thanks so much for watching. It’s great paper. It’s all I use these days. :)
The Masters Choice is a highly overpriced markup of Baohong for import to other countries. You can get the regular Baohong for much less.

Do you mean the masters choice is a higher priced but similar version of their 'academy' line, or is there another grade?
@@morgenmachen2400 It's the same as the artist line, only rebranded.
I am no professional but I am cringing watching you paint on the hot pressed paper. I use smooth paper a lot and it’s needs a different approach.
Yep. Just tested them all with the same approach is all.
