i always wondered how youtube artists did their work so effortlessly until I finally bought cotton watercolor. anyone should at least try it once before they hang up their hat with watercolor, it really can't be beat and makes it much easier to get beautiful art.
The Academy surface is "machine made," while the Pro surface is "mold made." That accounts for the pattern on the lower grade. Beyond mold made is "hand made." Those are usually even more expensive. Twinrocker and Indigo are examples of handmade paper.
Hi Reynald!! Thank you so much for this comparison! To be honest, while the video was loading I looked at the number of views and likes and I was prepared for a video with low production quality, poor techniques/practices or unscripted ramblings. One of those videos in which I have to fight against the person who did the video to get the information I am looking for. But wow! Nothing to do with reality! I am sorry for having judged without knowing. I was surprised at the clarity of your video, the editing, the audio, and the way you presented the information. I am super grateful to you for taking the efforts necessary to produce quality content. I think it is only a matter of time before your channel grows like crazy. Wish you the best!!!
Salamat Reynald! Been using the Artist grade of baohong (because it is really comparable to Arches but a lot cheaper) and someone commented on facebook if I faced 'sizing' with Baohong. Told her nope and I think the one she pertains w/ sizing problem is present with Academy grade (those 'baby powder' effect and the lack of movement w/ watercolor). So I guess I will not try the academy anymore to test and see the difference. Appreciate your review! 😀
@@see_rencio Hello, I saw the Arto watercolor paper and it was very cheap but it sold out during the payday sale on Shopee. Perhaps you know where to find the 300 gsm one with 100% cotton?
Thabks for reviewing this. Helped me choose baohoan academy as my main watercolor paper as compared to other more known brsnds these offer 20 sheets with oure cotton paper. Having it on a block was also a plus as loose sheet needs to be stretched to avoid buckling
Muchas gracias por la comparación, quiero probar esta marca, y me parece que para aprender estaría muy bien la academy, y el profesional usarlo cuando ya tenga más experiencia.
I really appreciate this review. I was interested myself in knowing the difference between the two. This was so helpful! Hope your channel Grows more and more
Thanks for the review. I've bought some Artist grade paper. It hasn't arrived yet, but I 'spose I should have checked reviews before purchasing, but I feel I have made the correct choice. I loved the way you did the video. Many have too much chatter, so I never finish them. You spoke what was needed, when it was needed, and didn't waste everyone's time with nothingness. Great job. Loved it all. 😊
Thank you for this review, is the most helpful video that I've found for this particular brand. I wasn't sure if I should buy it but this convinced me :) Thanks :)
Awesome! i learned something new today!:) .. i know nothing about water color painting or any art for that matter but i was honestly glued to this video. thanks nald! baohong kuwang!👃🏻
Very good Reynald, I appreciate the review and this will probably be my next paper purchase because of your review. P.S. I have subscribed to your channel....good luck on your future videos.
Thank you for this review. But Which one do you think is better between the 2 coming fr a professional artist point of view. I have both but I work more on the academy. It seems like it’s more workable than the artist grade. But I need to know your point of view. Thank you
I once bought from another online store. One cold pressed, one hot pressed. But I felt really down when the parcels arrived. I received a candy and a rag. I already paid for it through g cash. But thank God 😊 I got my refund. I spent around three thousand for both. I still feel traumatized with what happened. I am so vigilant now when buying online. I hope bookstores and artshops sell baohong watercolour paper. I am reluctant to purchase again online. I felt really disappointed with those online sellers. They are scammers! I hope the rests are not.
For me, personally, invest on papers first even if you only have student grades paints para lang mafeel mo difference ng cotton sa di cotton.....
Salamat uli sir! Keep it up 👌
Regardless of what grade, using 100% cotton is waaaaaaay better than using ordinary cellulose paper. If money isn't an issue then go for the professional grade but for me personally using the student grade is sufficient enough :). Thank you for watching my video.
Thank you brother. For some weird reason I cant buy them in regular art stores here in south carolina. Tapos yung arches sobrang mahal nmn for beginner. I bought the sample pack 5x7 few weeks ago online. The first two were artist grade. Without me knowing that there was an artist grade and academy, but it was really vibrant. Tas when i was using na yung sa student grade i can see the difference. Though I already purchased the academy grade 15x10. I will sure use them first then will buy the artist grade next time. Thanks for this review, more power to your channel.
Maraming salamat po... :) I've seen more than a couple videos na sabi hirap daw mahanap tong brand na to dyan, parang accessible sa asia lang kasi made in china haha.
😢 online sobrang mahal kasi inaangkat pa galing ibat-ibang bansa. Have you heard the brand Arteza? That one is reasonable. pero mas mura pa din tong baohong. Anyway, looking forward sa next vid mo. :)
@@renk.1321 oo meron Arteza didto available sa shopee pero mas gusto ko itry Arto na brand mas kasing presyo lang nang baohong pero hindi block, sheets lang.

@@see_rencio actually, masmahal yung Arto.. Arto has 10 sheets while Baohong has 20, but then again it can be the same grade as the Baohong Artist, making it much better and almsot the same price as that. On a pleasant note, you don't have to repeat "Hi I'm Reynald" when that's literally your channel name. The one in billion scenario where you don't need to do it. Save that energy. :p
