The Classics | Boulder EP#1 Midnight Lightning

- At the top the most famous big wall, below the most famous climbing camp ground and, in its centre, the most famous boulder on the planet: El Capitan, Camp 4, Midnight Lightning. Without this triumvirate, the Yosemite Valley would not be the most famous climbing area in the world! However, it was by no means easy for a boulder to rise to legendary status here in the homeland of iconic bigwalls such as Nose and Salathé.

Only the Great Ron Kauk can spot you from 30' away. Legend
i died at this
Hearing Ron Kauk's perspective is fantastic.
4:45 That has to be the most beautiful mantle move I have ever seen.
What a great series, please do more. I love that you are doing oldschool classics and bringing on the person who did the FA
Ron is a solid gent! After living in the valley in the 80s 90s its great to see his humility passing on the spirt of the rock.
Just discovered this video... Kauk is one of the true OGs of Camp 4 and Yosemite climbing. Hero...
Love how Ron brings up Bachar and Yabo, both dearly departed, standouts in their day!
“Bacher & Yablonsky .... our little group”
RIP JB & JY LEGENDS
I can't even imagine doing this problem in front of Ron Kauk. Unbelievably special.
This is the cleanest send on Midnight Lightning I've ever seen.
I agree.
Lynn Hill floats it ... check out her vid; Carlo Traversi as well
Definitely you can tell it was a piece of cake for this guy, he sent it without any effort. Basically, a warm up.
Opportunity of timing my man! 1978 wow! 10 years ahead at least. Nice to see and hear someone of interest talk about climbing.
"Yablonski and Bacchar standing there looking at this..." I had no idea Jon Yablonski was such a pioneer. I thought he was just a tortured soul in my high school art class. And I am sure I saw another Los Gatos High alumnus do midnight lighting around 1976 or 77... Mark Blanchard... wonder if he gone now too?
Was never man enough for the top out. Such an intimidating move
Classics like that are everywhere, if you have the vision.
sunrise
this boulder looks so cool. classic!
Hell yes, I'm going to try and send this before the summer ends!
Did you send it ?
Thank you Ron Kauk, John Bacher, And especially you, Yabo.
So cool to see Ron
love the video, music went so well with the feel!
Do you have any ideas what is the name of the background music?
so happy this series is back! :D
HELL YEAH! please more!
Ron is so cool
Which version of Midnight Lightning did you used for the background ? All the ones i know got lyrics on it. :) Super good job guys keep it up !
that was awesome!
I was hoping Ron was going to hop on next...I wonder if he can still climb that? Anyways, cool video..nicely done.
Nah, I don't think so.
Great Video
amazing video. does anyone know the name of the guitar track?
nice video
Kauk talks like a native american... is he?
ye
Not exactly but the mother of his children is... her father is Ahwahneechee (native of Yosemite Valley) and her mother is from a Coastal Tribe, I think Coastal Miwok?
The girl looks out of it...get some redbull in her or something!
