It gives me fallout 1 vibes from the gameplay and such, i loved fallout 1 and 2, and once i get a bit of breathing room in the budget this is also one i am getting a bit envious of people playing it now.
Gonna check this out! I bought this game when the early access dropped but I've been waiting for full release to play it! glad to see you're back doing vids!!
Very talented game makers and very creative. Game is contagious as hell. Just pass first initial shock of navigating you will learn to love it after few hours cause exploration is top in this game . Dialog smart. Combat tactical. Characters reflections of people you know and ideas they have. This is not ship in space this is planet earth now ,before and after. Atmosphere is something I won't even praise it is beyond short cheap praise it is Art .
I love this game. Finished it 2 times, Underdog and then Hero. The worst thing about it is it is criminally short. If i were rich, I'd pay them for double the time DLC, but I'm poor, so i may be have to stoop to level of kidnapping.
Thank you for great videos! Colony Ship is the game I am excited even more than Baldurs Gate. Colony Ship has unique setting, I can not remember I encountered it in games before. Really great.
Missed the opportunity to quote Marx @18:20 "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."
@@ColonelRPG tbf, quoting Marx haven't got you laid since McCarthyism It's probably his second most well known quote after "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" Marx was a fun character. Brilliant economist, decent political theorist, used to pawn his pants to fund his chronic alcoholism, wrote letters with Abe Lincoln (they were mutual admirers 🫶) and died 38 years before people would immediately think of Stalin when they heard his name But what's really interesting is that this game obviously draws on historical political and theological theorists for its world building and that's A++ in my book
This game reminds me of Empire of Sin. just a lot more in depth and reading. story, choices. etc. but combat at least is basically same. honestly looks boring lol. but i know empire of sin is fun game for me.... but it a buggy mess so often crashes to where i loose my save. Reviews for this game i dont see that as an issue. it doesnt sound flawless. but overal people are lovingit. 87% reviews compared to empire sin 48%.. although in its defense was always around 60-70% until they abandoned the game finally closing their doors on it......
Amazing how they mixed together combat from SS with a cover system from xcom and have it make no sense while being painfully dull at the same time. The combat isn't even as visceral or satisfying as SSS which is a 20 year old game.. Modern gaming is so disappointing.
What do you think of the game? I think they tinkered with the balance of the game so much and so often that they completly forgot or neglected to make the game more fun or give it more replayability. While they have multiple quest solutions(usually 2, rarely 3) and 7 endings with a big numbers of possible builds the game itself is very short, especially when you learn in what order to do things. The game might have a lot of options but in a single playthrough you will experience a max of about 60% of the content or even less because many doors will be closed, some quests or challenges can't be finished and much of the content is "see the other team". They also refused to put procedural fights or a mechanic to stop a downward spiral so people will be forced to restart their game once they see the huge mistakes the game lets you make. I like the concept, story and overall immersion but this an RPG that took rpg games back 10 years or more because of it's obtuze thinking and mechanics. Not to mention the huge and painful restrictions the game has, you will feel like the game is open world and you could change companions BUT the game will lock into certain areas until you solve a quest or you could completly fail a quest just by leaving an area. Y ou will also be penalised for changing companions and you will find much better companions later BUT they are not allowed to enter certain areas. It just beyond any reason or logic to do it like this. Another problem is the lackluster guns and mediocre accuracy system where you can have a 20% chance to shot someone at point blank range or a 5% chance to shoot someone adjacent to you if they have some cover. Guns are usualy balanced by having around 10 damage(8-12, 9-11,10-12 and later a bit more) and the better guns have a few points more damage BUT more passive stats so they are stat buffers mostly. Also, some fights you are supposed to do much later or even use a gimmick to win, some fights are so unfair that you would need to pass skill checks to win them or resolve them another way. The usually combat means you enter a room, the combat gets triggered and you can change your positions in a 6X2 area in the middle of the room or in the worst possible locations. So imagine entering a door and then being forced to stay in the middle of the room with no cover and the enemies being in cover and throwing grenades or just shooting your weakest character until it dies.
Honestly that sounds like all the same design decisions they made for The Age of Decadence. It worked for that game, I haven't seen why it wouldn't work for this one.
@@ColonelRPG Exactly. This is not meant to be an open world, see everything, be master of all guilds, grind your way through the game. I understand many people might like games designed that way, but it's not a golden standard all games must adhere to, and we like a game built around trying different builds and story choices in subsequent playthroughs. We never promoted this as an isometric "open world" game, nor we think it should be. Basically, it's a different design preference. The game does what it's designed to do, and we know that while some players might dislike it, for others is what they love about the game.
Great informative video. Regarding the game however, the more videos I see about it the more I'm driven away from it. It feels over-written and the combat is so boring, slow and static. The setting is great though.
not sure why you think that. but unless you like mindless fps games... or mindless mmo grindfests. this game very indepth. and slow paced. i not a fan of all the text. a lot to read. but same time i understand why and once u get into it. i sure it be fun.
I started the game yesterday and its one of the most well designed and deep rpg's i ever played in my 25 years of gaming.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad that you are enjoying it =)

I was only ever going to watch _your_ playthrough of this. So it’s a good thing such a playthrough is beginning to exist.
Glad to see you back at it! =)

Real glad you decided to do an updated playthrough your past commentary was very good.

I wonder why title screen shows a planet instead of, well, colony ship?
The entire point of the colony ship is it colonize Proxima. It's the 'mission' and it is central to so many aspects of the story.

i have a big basement
Really enjoy your playthroughs
YES!!!! I've been waiting for this.
Nice! Was waiting for it since you tried it in early access, seemed decent even then!
Thank you for great videos!
Colony Ship is the game I am excited even more than Baldurs Gate. Colony Ship has unique setting, I can not remember I encountered it in games before. Really great.
I know the two games are nothing alike but, this gives me a Crusader: No Regret vibe for whatever reason.
aaah, i miss that game
I am amazed you didn't use melee weapons when at point blank, it would probably have better hit chances and even do more damage
You do need to have the melee weapons equipped.
@@ColonelRPG I see, it is not one of those games that you can change mid battle
not a bad start, just as you are progressing
There is no way I'll play it myself. It's so difficult. But I'll happily watch your walkthrough just for the story.
There is an easy mode.
Nice, Jagged Alliance in space.

it's Unreal engine not unity
Wow, that is some wall of text to get you started in the game...
U forgot the boxes near the junkies bro
Don't worry, I went back to them later :)
0:32 Not the UNITY engine, but UNREAL Engine 4
