Post Hurricane Trout Bite Was 🔥🔥🔥
I haven't done a lot of fishing for the past month, and Hurricane Beryl pulled my attention away from fishing. Finally made it out today after spending Friday and Saturday cleaning up debris around the house. I didn't know what to expect since I hadn't taken the boat to my normal spots in about a month. I went out early in the morning before the sun was up. Hit the mouth of Big Pasture and the topwater trout bite got intense real fast. I used a Duke Dog Mirrolure and tangled up with 3 upper slot trout within the first hour of fishing. The sky was overcast which extended the topwater bite. Water clarity was good and wind was barely there at about 4-6 mph, so we had glass conditions.
Went to the back of the marsh and only caught a few dinks, so decided to hit up Triple Cut. We caught trout on nearly every cast. Most trout were in the 11-13" range, but they were aggressive and fought hard. They were hitting our lures as soon as they hit the water or within a second of reeling it in. Could have thrown anything at them and they would have gobbled it up. Ended up closing out our limits with 3 more slot trout and released another 4. We must have caught at least another 30 under-slot trout.
Ended the trip in 3 hours and left them biting.
