It's funny but french mirage won numerous red flag exercices against the so superior american jets... and even F22 had only hard time with the rafale. the F35 is not even a match to Rafale. Also during the 1st gulf war, in the very few engagements in the air, american fighters lost more than win against old Mirage F1.
Stephen The Falklands saw Mirage IIIs and Israeli built Neshers sent without inflight refueling on one way attack missions. They arrived with no fuel to fight with and often no air to air missiles. Their poor performance in the Falklands is a testament to the awful strategic thinking of the Argentine air command. If a modernized variant with inflight refueling (like the Mirage 2000) had been used in the Falklands the RAF and Royal Navy would’ve had a much tougher time.

The Mirage F-1 is a good jet but it comes from an older set of technologies than something like an F-16 or a Mirage 2000. However the rest of the world is far behind the USA in fighter technology and the deployment of the newest technology. Example: there are about 195 F-22 Raptors in use. No other country has 'fielded' 5th generation fighters in operational numbers. And we have the national debt to prove it.

Ah, I see your logic, "cost" "reliability". You are either a "bean-counter" or finding points of merit. What about a what it does in the air? As opposed to financial consideration. I would think the F-15 series would hold the edge when it comes to actual results/performance.
+rusher80 The Mystere had very similar performance to the F-86 series, but it had a HUGE advantage; it was armed with 2 30mm CANNON instead of the 6 .50 cal MGs that the USAF seemed to be obsessed with, until their inadequacy was demonstrated over Korea. Turns out the 13 to one kill loss ratio was actually only about 6 to one (or thereabouts), as shown by Soviet records, since so many of the Migs that looked ot be blown apart in the gun cam films were actually just badly damaged and made it home. This included hte first jet kill claim by an F-80, its Soviet pilot got it down according records. Barely, but it made it. Cannon was the way to go.
You are right, they look alike. Designers looked what others did to work quickly I guess. Also the one after is a Trident jet with the turbojets at the end of each wing and a main rocket engine. It was just a prototype.
@@gringologie9302 They were talking about Mirage 2000 which is from the late 70's. Fly by wire was invented in the 30's. The Avro Arrow, F8 crusader, a few Sukhois, the Concorde and even the lunar lander all had fly by wire before the Mirage 2000, it was an old invention at that point. I love Dassault, but that was just a bit thick.
For me in the history of jet fighter history mirage and f16 are the summary if technology content here still is sufficient to carry on with the most modern warfare
Mirage 2000 has defeated F16 in almost all their exercices engagement between allies... but everyone still see M2000 as poor because french and F16 superb because american then far superior... The fighter jet is important, sure, but it does NOT replace the pilot. Greek pilots proved it too.
wow i cant believe theres even a question here.... the F15 is an air superiority fighter that even at its age can and will continue to dominate the air.... sorry mirage theres no contest here....
It seems you haven't seen the numerous result in red flags. Especially that most of french jets are mutli or omni role (2000 serie and rafale serie), not superiority, but always stunned in allied meeting and exercices. Everyone expected the F22 to thrash the rafale and to have harder moments with Typhoon, it was by far the opposite.
It is a little known fact that the first mirage was designed in england. The fairy delta 2 was a british plane. A delta wing fighter 2 were made and it was very good but the uk government did not put it into production and sold it to france where it became the mirage. so the delta wing is not a classic french design but a uk one. you can see video of it on youtube.
Is that the reason there are barely 70 of those jets operational within France after 20+ years of production and no export contract until India where Dassault sold the entire production line to get the contract? Don't get me wrong, the aircraft is not bad but there is no basis to claim it is outstanding when not even the country of origin prefers it other than being the exclusive carrier aircraft.
The French should continue designing their own aircraft as they are so beautiful.

i agree, they are the most beautiful

It was just a prototype.
the plane who look like F104 was a Leduc 022 (the first Leduc was made in 1946 with the same look), the first flight of F104 was 1956
And you don't know the Griffon!
The F16 is similar.
BANGLADESH air Force wanted to buy multirole combat aircraft
IAF SU30s whipped US F15s in a war games...it is documented
The end u must silent.. but how?
Why do they talk like fly-by-wire was their invention? It had been in use for years.
That was embarrassing..
The doc is very old. And they were questioning retired pilotes. So they were talking about old time.
I wannt it in war thunder
Thank u miraj.. u are one of the reasons for pak defeated in 1999 kargil war
I love Mirages (specially the F1) but they cannot beat the beauty of S-35 :D not even the Rafale.
19:57 not a rafale but a mirage 4000
19:57
wow i cant believe theres even a question here.... the F15 is an air superiority fighter that even at its age can and will continue to dominate the air.... sorry mirage theres no contest here....
The Mirage III had the glide slope of a brick when the (single) engine failed and the Americans used to refer to them as ‘aluminium death tube’, lol
Still better than f104 aka flying coffin...
